Lovely hotel, staff friendly, smiling and always helpful. All meals we had there were really good and well presented It’s very central to everything I.e lovely temples. There are plenty of restaurants around at varying price levels if do not want to eat at hotel. Nice touch was fresh fruit each day in room.

The Tamarind satisfied my lodging needs satisfactorily. I liked the place very much, overall. The gentleman handling check-in and daily needs was very personable and helpful. The facilities were well-maintained and clean. The cafe next to the Tamarind’s beautiful pool area is fine and most convenient. I was particularly fond of the cook/server. My room was large, a/c was fine, bathroom/ shower were ok but water pressure was very low presumably due to major construction in the area. The room has a desk/chair, extra chairs/table, luggage rack, small fridge, digital safe and bedside tables with lamps. The area is safe and is an easily walkable 1-1.5km to the ferry pier to Koh Rong. It is quiet and tranquil but a <5 minute walk to the beach & beach bars. There is much construction going on in the area of The Tamarind which makes it a bit noisy and dusty. Wifi started fine but the last two days of my 6 day stay, wifi was very poor.

stayed 5 nights in tamarind and with 15 dollar a head (60 for the room number 5) I consider to have paid a fair price during songkran. Yes sure I would have preferred a Samsung OLED TV 55 inch and a Bose surround system and a free shuttle to Otres Beach and back, yet for this price I will settle for an Akira TV and AC Living 7 years in Cambodia and after visiting at least 20, times Sihanoukville I understand that many customers are disappointed in Sihanoukville , and with the main beach close to the hotel gone it is even worse as the alternatives to go to the beach side close to the hotel are really poor . So one has to pay about 8/14 dollar (depend if you are Khmer or not) a day to go up and down to otres beach . A year ago SHV had plenty to offer in the evening , that is also finished except if you are a casino fan so conclusion is that you better off to sleep in Otres now if not opt for Kep that is , till today, a non Chinese destination in Cambodia. But it is a little unfair to be influenced by Sihanouk itself while writing a review about a hotel . The hotel has a nice swimming pool with far too hot water , nicely settled in a nice garden . Loungers and tables are next to the pool. It is understandable that they start late with breakfast, if not they have problems with the guests sleeping close to the breakfast place. We took the breakfast first morning and yes there are 8 options, yet we were served wrong food and also took too long time and the quality of the food served was average . For 5 dollar there are plenty of buffet breakfasts available close by I neither understand people complaining about the location , we are 2018 and one can find what is the exact location of this or any other hotel . Once this hotel was far away from the busy center, now it is surrounded by new buildings mostly occupied by Chinese long stayers and the new build casinos are coming closer and closer The power cuts are common in Cambodia and out of control of the management As I was bored the whole stay I started reading the comments from customers and more in particular the reactions of the owner. I understand that the owner is not keen to receive negative feed back as the internet can make or break and running a hotel in Sihanoukville is not so easy nowadays . we have a few constructive remarks regarding the basics of hospitality business the hotel claims to be clean ? ,; if not the cleanest in SHV ?? enclose a picture of our room when we opened the window ....our room was number 5 the wifi is ok ? I enclose picture taken at 4pm , that is the moment all clients are absent ..the wifi from grand sihanoukville on the other side of the street is more strong than the signal of the tamarind even we having a router in our room I was little surprised when I asked the reception if there was something wrong with the water, we had no water when we checked in. The reply was that the hotel is fully booked so we have to be "lucky" to have water .. The water pressure we had was deceiving , again explained later on as there is an issue with the pump . it is clear fact that the rooms next to the swimming pool are by far better than the "uites"in the house. We will book two of those next time and give it a second chance The stay was in general ok but some improvement is needed . For 15 dollar a person in the garden rooms you have a good deal .

Thanks for your extensive comments. Songkran is the Thai New Year, so I suppose you are one those transplants from Thailand a few years ago. Khmer call it Joul chnam khmer (transliteration). We couldn't see your enclosed pictures. Let me just say in comparison to the other approx. 500 reviews online, cleanliness and wi-fi are certainly not mentioned very often. There are always instances when there is a slower transmission with Metfone - the Grand Sihanoukville Hotel uses a different provider with far fewer subscribers. Nevertheless, I am at the hotel most every day and download things at speeds over 1 Gbps. I certainly don't call that slow. Sometimes guests just need to clear caches, or RAM on their mobiles/tablets. Yes, we are not too keen on negative reviews especially when they are about trifle things, totally ridiculous, or outright false. Sometimes families with kids complain about cleanliness, or clogged toilets forgetting that their kids caused the problems to begin with. It is unbelievable how some guests leave their rooms - this guest excepted. We appreciate your trying to be fair and objective, although you didn't quite succeed. A word with the reception would usually remove any cause for a complaint. Breakfast is standard hotel fare - nearby cafes serve up pretty much the same. But 80% of our guests book without breakfast which doesn't make it any easier for us to offer top-notch food for reasons of logistics.

Only stayed one night, but when this place is on offer it is great value. A cute, simple place with a nice hotel and bar. Easy, friendly service and a well equipped bedroom. A good base for one night while arranging travel in this area.

Thank you but we would beg to differ. The hotel is certainly good for more than one night stays. You can relax at the pool and just tune out, reading a good book or browsing the internet.

Nice hotel to stay a night, it's quiet and at walking distance from the city centre. The personnel is very kind and the breakfast is a nice buffet. Swimming pool is a bit hot, not very good to cool down. The room is okay, but there where a lot of musquito's in it. The towels could have been a little bit more clean. But, overall, nice stay!

Thank you. You stayed in April, the hottest month in Cambodia with temps up 38° which feels like well over 40°. Other than putting ice into the pool there is not much we can do about the temp in April. The towels are washed every day, they may lose their original color but they are always clean. Please be a little more judicial with your remarks.
