10 Rustic ocean front bungalows where you can take in the stunning views of one of the best beaches in Cambodia, with the most beautiful white sand stretching for 500meters. A secluded paradise where you can forgo the trappings of the modern hustle and bustle for the quiet castaway lifestyle. Located on the eastern side of Koh Rong samloem Island which is 19 klm from the Cambodian coastal town of Sihanoukville. Explore the jungle and river safely with our local tour guides, there’s monkeys in the jungle to be admired from afar and we even have turtles in the river that runs under the restaurant, 15 at last count. On a moonless night we have phosphorescent algae, it lights up around you when you swim but only on a really dark night with no moon or waves. Enjoy our Restaurant and bar where we have fresh seafood and BBQ or you can have the staff train you to cook local Khmer food.. We have snorkeling at both ends of the beach and plenty of snorkelling gear to hire.

Spent a few nights there with family. Bungalow are basic, but face the sea and have A/C, which is a nice bonus considering the relatively low price. The bungalows have 1 large bed and 1 single bed, so a bit tight for a family of 4. The beach is kept clean, however the restaurant area is quite run down. The menu is very limited and khmer only. No fruit, smoothies, juices, etc, but if you ask they can make an omelette or pancake. Descent stay overall, but definitely not the most scenic part of the island. There is a large construction site nearby and quite a bit of deforestation. Options for food are limited as the other hotels have expensive and not so inspiring food.

Sandy Beach it is one of quiet Beaches of koh rong Saloem. So let’s start with the good aspects: - The Beach it’s very pacific - The Water at the sea it’s perfect and that’s almost it... For now you have three options to stay, Tube, Bodega or Sandy. But it seams like they are building a hudge resort, wich it’s not good news :( As Sandy restaurant was in renovation, we only had 3 options to eat: Tube’s, Bodega and a local Restaurant at the village. Tube’s has very bad and expensive Breakfast , but for the rest of the menu it’s not bad. For vegetarians it has 3 or 4 options and for vegans one or two. Bodega’s it is a young people resort, with loud music ( but bearable) with an interesting menu, the best option for breakfast it’s there. For other meals it is ok, although it has always a lot of artificial sauces. I would recomend the humus flat bread or the Veggie burger with mushrooms and Tofu. The local restaurant has homemade options, but we didn’t get to try it. The Sandy bungalow it is renovated, but they could made it better...I stayed at the wood houses with fan. The deco it’s nice and the bathroom it’s confortable (no hot water), but the matress it’s too soft if you move the hole bed shakes. The construction has a lot of holes. We saw rats in the bungalow and at Tubes Restaurant, but that doesn’t suprise us because even though this must be one of cleanest beaches in all koh rong islands, the dirty starts as soon as you step out the resort area, with lot’s of dirt and garbage spread every where. It is a shame that these islands doesn’t have any trash policy, and people are destroying it very fast. I stayed here 3 years ago and it’s seams a lot worst. The windows at the bungalow don’t close very well so they put bars at the window wich it is not very nice. The mosquito’s are another huge problem, with stoped waters near by, I was bitten more than 50 times in 4 days. My body was a field of battle for mosquitos. The mosquito net it’s too small for the bed. So the sleep wasn’t very good. The deet or mosquito spray didn’t work here has there was so many mosquitos. The area in front of the bungalows has some sun shadows with sun beds, only half has comfortable mattress on it, so people tend to reserve them the all day with towels, when they go to lunch and even on the day before... the resort should clean the all area in the evening, and put some signs to this bad educated people... unfortunately it’s not only here, they are spread all over the world. We talked about the rats to the manager and their reaction was the worst part, they were patronizing has if it’s normal, but it’s not, that’s a bad symptom of all the lack of higiene in the island. These paradise islands with this kind of people behind will became a nightmare in a few years... and that’s very sad.

Hello, thank you for coming to Sandy Beach Resort and taking your time to write us a review. Sadly, our restaurant is not ready to be open. We are pushing ourselves to get it open very soon. If you might have notice, in the property we put big trash can all over the resort for guest usage. We are doing the cleaning together with other resort in our area to Make sure that we do our due diligence on regards to trash. It’s a problem yes and it happens all over the world. We do best with what we can do here on the island. As for the rat issues I have spoken to you regards to that. As rats are attracted to food and we do notice our guests bring some food in the room. We always advise our guest to make sure that they keep the food nicely packed, so it won’t attract any rats to our bungalows. We are making sure that we will always put hygiene as our priority. Regarding, the mosquitoes that is in the room. It’s an island problem and we are battling with that issues. As for the beds, we don’t have any problem with the bedding and so far, we didn’t receive any complaints regarding the bed. We hope that you will make another visit at our resort soon and see the changes that is being done. We hope to see you again and thank you once again for your honest review. Kind Regards from all Sandy Beach Resort team!

Bungalows are okey equipped and have aircon. The bed is next to a glass wall which separates the room and toilet. Toilet is typical Asian wet room with combined toilet and shower. Stay is fine however their restaurant was under renovation when we stayed there leaving you only to two more restaurants on this side of the island and there is no possibility to walk to the other side. The beach is amazing but short. From one end to the other it’s a 10-15 min walk. And that’s how far you will be able to move around on this side of the island. The Hotel has a free boat to Saracen bay where there are a lot more restaurant and things to do. Last boat back is 1600.

This was one of my best island locales after 10 years of travelling small islands in ASia. The hotel was perfect in that it was comfortable, laid back, and had great staff who treated me like family. I went fishing with some staff, and was invited to parties with staff and guests. The hotel was clean and the air conditioning was strong. The bed was comfortable, and the island is pristine. great snorkeling was just around the corner, and the fishing was ok. I loved my stay and Abang, the GM was very friendly and kind.

After a few hectic days in Bangkok and intensiv Temple hopping in Angkor we are slowly learning the Cambodian mode - take nothing för granted and always double check all arrangements agred, preferably by telephone. Mailas in advance simply seems to be forgotten. 5 With these impressions and experiences we continued to Koh Rong Salaloem for 5 Days relax on the beach. Perfect hide away for us looking for clean, uncompromized beaches and a peaceful rather than busy atmosphre. After 2 days we decided to translocate from the main Saracen beach to the isolated and very secluded Sandy Beach. Booked a sea front Chalet at Sandy Resort. This requies a long tail transport offered free by the resort-3 times a day. Here a minor miscommunication arose, and we had to give the resort a calll and alert. The boat arrived an hour late, to our great dissatisfaction. But upon arrival Mr Sean and his very helpful colleagues recieved us and immediately gave us an excuse and an overwhelming compensation that far outweight the inconvenience. The personell at both this Resort and the higher tier next door Tube Resort (same owner) are communicative in English in a way we never experienced here before - an international mix of Finnish; South African, Malaysian and locals. All with unparalleled skills in service, attention and problem solving with authority. Thé resort(s) itself exceeded our high expectations. The only restaurant is a bit more expensiv than others we have tried on the island, but simply superb. Apart from swimming, reading, tanning, resting there are few things to do on this 500m long isolated beach resort, than plåtning or dinner at the on-the-beach restaurant. But without Mr Sean's and the receptionists at both Sandy Resort and the Tube site next door, I am afraid my review Gould have been repellent and full of negatives. But now I say; don't miss this hidden Pearl. I let the other reviewers focus on the rest.
