This is a great place to stay with wonderful hosts! Mona was wonderful and so accommodating to our needs. She really made our stay the best! Thank you Mona!! We had room 15 with 2 queen beds on the second floor. It was roomy and had everything we needed, including a fridge, microwave and a full kitchenette with pots, plans, dishes and silverware. Kernville is just a few minutes drive south and to the north is the amazing and beautiful country including the Johnsondale Bridge, tons of fishing along the Kern River, Trail of 100 Giants and the Ponderosa Lodge & Restaurant, Needles Pint Lookout Trailhead and so much more!

After reading reviews, I had no idea that the walls would be so thin that you could carry on a conversation with people in adjacent rooms. We were in Room #13 which is on the upper floor at the end toward the road/river. I am not a particularly light sleeper, but I was awakened at least 4 times each night by noise from the adjacent room or outside (and I am talking about the times the noise woke us up after midnight.) The building doesn't seem to have any sound insulation at all and people can be pretty inconsiderate. I wasn't expecting much from the breakfast and it was in fact not much. They did okay on cleanliness, but the shower curtain was growing something and smelled like it. From a security standpoint, I was a little worried about what might happen if there was a fire due to the construction of both the structure and the walkways/stairs (if you were bringing a lot of luggage the outer rooms on either end of the second floor would be pretty difficult. Sleep was a problem - the mattresses were uncomfortable, the noise was almost intolerable from adjacent rooms and outside, I would hate to see it if there was a lot of traffic on the road late at night. I realize this location is a bit remote and you can't expect too much, but I don't think I would stay there again. We paid $135 per night with tax it was $148.50, but they seem to get it because of the scarcity of rooms in the area. Visiting the Giant Sequoia's was great, but I would find another place to stay.

Thank you for lodging with us. We are sorry that you we disturbed by noise issues and wish you had brought this to the attention of the front office so that it could have been addressed at the time of your stay. Our FREE continental breakfast consist of coffee, teas, juices, milk, hot choc,hot/cold cereals, pastry's,muffins, toast, yogurt, fruit and hard boiled eggs. I can assure you that the shower curtain was not growing anything, we do have hard water that sometimes stains the curtains. All you had to do was ask at the front office for it to be replaced and we would have gladly accommodated you. We do get compliments on the comfort of our mattresses from many guest.

This place is great to stay at. Half way up the upper Kern river. Great getaway! The rooms were great. Very clean and has a nice kitchenette with everything u need to cook with. Great staff. Katie checked us in and she is a wealth of information about the area. We spent about a 1/2 hr. with her talking about the history of the town and surrounding areas. She knows great places to see and also great restaurants to eat at. The continental breakfast was simple and great. They even have propane BBQ’s to cook on. All in all this is a perfect remote place and the price was just right! Will definitely stay here again.

The front desk lady was very cordial and gave us our key, we stayed on the top floor which had a beautiful view of the landscape and river form the front door. I will say the room doors are not the most secure as you open it with a key so I would caution you to bring a safe if you have any important items with you. The room was clean and bed comfortable enough, the room had a kitchen area with a stove, micro, sink and a mini fridge (we forgot our Tequila so whoever came next, your welcome ;) There is a flat screen smart TV in the room as well that was in kind of an awkward position to the left of the bed, not that we cared because we didn't plan to watch tv but just to mention. The check in and out was easy and fast, overall we were happy with our stay and will likely choose this lodge again next time we visit Kernville.

The place was comfortable and clean. Breakfast was basically just cereal but it was a clean nice dining area. There was a full kitchen in our room which was nice. I would just plan to make breakfast in the room next time.
