This was our second time renting a cabin at Double Eagle Resort. As a family of 5 we enjoy the resort because it offers the best of both worlds- a private cabin and resort amenities. Onsite amenities we appreciate are the pool and spa, gym, fishing pond and onsite restaurant. With the cabin we like the fact that it comes equipped with everything you need from kitchen necessities, bbq, outdoor table and chairs, etc. The only con for this resort would be the price because it is considerable more money compared to other cabin rentals in the June Lake area.
The resort setting and grounds are lovely, the spa is well-maintained and the rooms well-appointed, but there is not the same attention to detail that makes a resort hum. Confusion around check-in time, a bed that needs fixing, menu shortages all need some tlc.Not as wonderful as I remembered.
Beautiful setting and great access to surrounding areas, but reception and food service so poorly executed its tough to be positive about Double Eagle. Staff while positive and well intended seem to have no direction or supervision. It was as if the property just opened and they were struggling to find their rhythm. Rooms are clean and quaint but poorly lit and in need of freshening. Based on prior reviews and price point we expected a lot more. No need to go back for stay or restaurant any time soon.
A very lovely location. Am I being overly sensitive? But now with COVID, I feel that this pandemic has given those in the hospitality industry a way out- guests should never be responsible for emptying trash cans, gathering linens and washing dishes, etc. And if we are trying to be hyper clean, do I really want the last guest to wash my dishes? Seems illogical. And please replace the threadbare towels that we are supposed to gather- strings hanging.
My family and I truly enjoyed our stay the 4th of July weekend in a cabin at Double Eagle Resort. The resort is very well taken care of with lovely grounds including a large fishing pond, indoor swimming pool, day spa, and on site restaurant. We stayed in a 2 bedroom cabin which backed up to the forest and had an awesome deck with table and chairs and a BBQ. The cabin had a kitchen with full refrigerator, oven/stove, microwave and sink. My only con for the cabin was the beds were pretty broken down and hard to sleep in. The master's King bed was uneven and so worn down that my husband and I had to sleep with our head at the foot of the bed in order to sleep, as the head of the bed was lower then the bottom of the bed from being used for so long. While it didn't bother us too much, travelers should be aware this resort hosts weddings and it is some what of a hindrance to guests. While the ceremony took place on the lawn, our access was blocked to go to the pool and spa area and then the reception was very loud with music until 10 pm. Travelers with children should also be aware that children under 14 are only allowed into the pool from 11:30-1:30 and 4:30-6:30. We were able to make it work but it was an inconvenience to not be able to use at certain times we would have and generally the pool was totally empty during the non-kid hours during our stay. Lastly, as with many places, due to covid there is no cleaning services to the room during your stay. You may request extra supplies (t.p., towels, etc.) and they will deliver them to you.…
Nestled in the woods with great views of the eastern Sierra mountains. Accommodations are cabin style, we had 2 BR's, LR, and kitchen, all nicely appointed. Bed was a bit squishy but comfortable. The facilities also have a nice gym, spa, and restaurant. The location is close to June Lake, Silver Lake, and our favorite Mono Lake.
This place is one of my favorite places!! Been going for a few years now and always have the best time! The Gym, Spa and Dining restaurant are near perfect! You could lounge at the resort all day and don't feel you need to go anywhere. Seriously! Really can't say enough, I truly enjoyed this getaway. The backdrop of the Mountains and so Close to Mammoth is just wonderful.
I'm a bit late writing this review but we loved our stay here in june/July 2020. It was our first stay anywhere during covid and we felt very safe. The hotel had minimal occupancy and everything felt very clean. We stayed for 4 nights in an upstairs king room. I loved how we parked right outside our room and the spacious room. It was a little dated but very comfortable. Lovely lake view, quiet and relaxing. Location for the lakes and Yosemite was perfect. We got takeout each night from the restaurant, the burger was amazing, possibly the best I've had!!
Amazing staff hooked us up proper after a booking mixup through expedia. My group (4 motorcyclists) rolled into town around 8pm, hungry and tired, only to find out our room had been given away because of a communication error between them and expedia. Even though the resort was 'fully booked', the staff hooked us up with the "guest house"—a full 3 BR house with plenty of space. Panic averted. We managed to sneak in a couple hours at the restaurant before it closed—amazing staff, delicious food (try the spicy pasta!). Being dark as we rolled into town, we had no idea what surrounded us when we woke up in the morning—what a surprise. Nestled in tight amongst towering rock mountains. Thank you to everyone that helped make our evening in JL a great one. I'll be back.
We are a 5th generation family that vacations at Silver Lake in the June Lake Loop. I’ve been vacationing here my whole married life and love the peaceful beauty of this area. This was my first time renting cabins for my family at the Double Eagel Resort. The Double Eagel is the highest quality resort in this area and its pet friendly too. The June Lake Loop is extremely short on accommodations for people traveling with pets. So hurray for pet friendly Double Eagel!!! CHECK-IN; I had called to confirm my reservations a few days before check-in and told the sweet lady on the phone that we would probably arrive early because of our drive. She said no problem. We got to the Double Eagel at about 1:45. She said she’d call us when the cabins were ready. So we went to the Silver Lake Resort store and we got the call 15 minutes later that the cabins were ready. Way to go Housekeeping!!!! The lady at Check-in was informative & efficient. All Covid rules are in place and we felt safe. RESORT; Absolutely beautiful and grounds are very well maintained. The resort has everything you need to never leave it, restaurant, spa, pond, sitting areas by the stream and walking trails. CABINS; Cabins have lovely little front decks with tables & 4 chairs to sit on, to look at the beautiful trees & mountains. The two bedroom cabins are comfortable & cozy with fireplaces. Cabins have heat but NO air conditioning. Kitchen; The kitchen if you have to cook has everything thing you need. I prefer the Eagles nest restaurant though, lol, it’s my vacation too. Bathroom; The bathroom is a little on the tight side and needs a minimum of 6 towel hooks for wet towels to dry, the 2 small towel bars are inefficient. Water pressure in the shower is great! Toiletries provided are very nice, especially the lotion. Bedrooms; Bedroom 1, clean & fresh. Queen beds were comfortable. Bedroom 2; Twin beds were not comfortable for adults. No mirrors in bedrooms for ladies to do hair & makeup. Both bedrooms need ceiling fans since there’s no air conditioning. All linens were soft & fresh. TIP; bring a portable fan if you need air movement or run hot at night. RESTAURANT; We had excellent service and the food is good quality, flavorful and fantastic! The whole family enjoyed eating here. The DOUBLE EAGLE RESORT & SPA will now be our family’s go to place.…
