This is a very small town. The cottages are managed by someone who is managing 3 locations at 1 time but they are very helpful and accommodating. The cottages are older and looks like they went through some renovations ( lipstick on a pig sort or ) but the renovations were fine and the cottages were comfortable and clean, probably better than some hotels I have stayed in. I would say this is a good choice for the area, since there isn't much here.

They only have two RV spots, but we snagged one of them for three nights during a very hot spell. We enjoyed our two full days of kayaking while conveniently renting our kayaks across the street and then putting in at their beach one day (with our shuttled truck waiting for us at the other end) and taking out the next (after having been shuttled with our boats at the upper river put in), made easy with the shuttle they can also provide. The beach across the street that they own is the best part. A green lawn rolls down to the river's edge to a very long river frontage. We would jump in at the up river property edge, then float down river while cooling off in the refreshing water of the Trinity to then get out at the other property end. Walk up river, repeat.... When not getting wet, there is some shade in which to relax, watch the river run by, read, chat, take photographs, or ...

My husband I stayed in the Maple cabin. It was a nice ,clean little cabin. We will definitely be returning to stay again. It was nice to have a kitchen and BBQ to use. Great for rafters on the Trinity River! Absolutely stunning area!

Unfortunately I will never stay there again, cleanliness was a issue. You can tell that the cabin was not cleaned well, stuff in the fridge, stains, cobwebs and spiders all over. Worse and foremost was the mouse droppings everywhere. The place needs a dramatic up grade, I wouldn’t be upset but for $150 after tax definitely not worth it. They need to take those high profits and apply them to more cleaning and newer amenities!

This place is as awesome as it gets. The owners Brianna & Matt are super nice. They will go out of there way to help you in any way they can. The cottages, RV spots, & the grounds are beautiful. Wanna get on the river? Make Big Foot Rafting part of the experience, it's just right there & it is very convenient. The guides are super knowledgeable & Friendly! Their Trips Are Top Notch. Gotta Try Them Out.... As far as both are concerned, I don't think I have ever met a nicer group of people in my life.

It was apparent the unit was not cleaned before we got there. I can deal with old and rustic but not dirty. After only 5 minutes there, we decided as a family we will not stay another night and leave immediately after our rafting tour the very next day. This meant we would lose money on the second night because there are no cancellations and at this point we didn’t care. The pictures do not lie and I hope I can save someone from making the same mistake we did. Bigfoot Rafting was awesome!!! We’ll definitely do this again however, we will not be staying at the Steelhead Cottages.

We are a family who rented several cabins in connection with a raft trip with Bigfoot rafting. The cabins are basic but fine, with a very comfortable bed and adequate room overall. The kitchen equipment is not high end but it was fine for BBQ and making dinner. The riverfront portion of the property (across the street) is fabulous. Great lawn area and nice landscaping, small but very nice private river beach. Rafting company staff were terrific. Everyone was conscientious about the pandemic - related social distancing.

I planned a getaway for some R&R, and finding these cottages was a BIG plus-comfy mattress, clean, peaceful surroundings with riverfront access. Briana was easy to work with and accommodated my late arrival. As well, she greeted me at 11:00 PM and had a fan on to cool down my room. She is delightful, and I immediately felt at home.

Great communication, Owners were very nice and informative! Cabins were clean and cozy. Had everything we needed, the kitchen was stocked with plates, cups, utensils, wine opener, pots, pans and a bread maker! BBQ outside and towels and linens. We Will be going back for sure!

Steelhead Cottages are comfortable cabins located across the street from the Trinity River. Opening the door I got that mountain air, almost musty scent that reminded me of our cabin on the North fork of the Santiam River in Oregon...a real throwback to my childhood memories! The cabin was clean and tidy...small living area with a small flat screen TV with DISH service. The compact kitchen has a small table, stove, frig and coffee maker. There were no paper towels, so you might want to bring some. The two beds were comfy and with lots of windows we were able to keep the room cool without AC. We were rafting with Bigfoot the next morning, which is also across the street in the river side of the highway, so the location was perfect. You also get a rafting discount if you spend the night. Food is scarce without a half hour drive, so you might want to pack your own dinner, or at least bring plenty of snacks. The Strawhouse is the only restaurant that is close (about 100 yards away) but they have limited hours and menu selections, so check their website to see if that works for you. All in all, a reasonably priced cabin in the woods...no complaints.
