My spouse and I visited Orchard Hill as a special anniversary trip, and we were welcomed with cake and champagne. The staff was very welcoming and helpful, the room was so charming, and the food was delicious! The views from the lodge are spectacular, especially at sunset. The hotel has a lot of rules, but they were very easy to follow.
Stayed 2 nights as an anniversary gift from our daughter. Would have expected more for $400 per night! Only had a 1 person jacuzzi tub and no shower. My wife woke up with a migraine and when I went for the complimentary breakfast I was told we had to eat in the dining room. Management was not accommodating us to eat in the room we paid $400 a night to stay at, in fact they discouraged taking food into the room and don’t even provide a small microwave. The room was very cute though and clean. Won’t go back.
We love coming here. We come 2-3 times a year and have always been greeted warmly and very welcoming. We stay in one of the cottages and it’s always a wonderful and pleasant stay. So close to town, yet up the hill and away from it all. We even had a birthday cake waiting for us this last weekend (as we were celebrating our birthdays). Comfortable, clean, and cozy accommodations. We highly recommend the dinner they offer on the weekends in the lodge…the food is amazing! Reservations required. They even offer a Happy Hour and free breakfast. Beautiful setting/scenery. We won’t stay anywhere else in Julian!
I was looking for property in Julian and got late on me that decided to find a place to spend the night and rest, one place referred me to another and that placereferred me to the orchard hill, the little store in the corner showed me it was uphill, drove there got lost in the gravel road, finally found the nice entry, to my surprised a male guy did not welcome me, was busy in the computer, then a gal came and help him and she answer my questions, i told her they had referred me there because they heard they had one room left, she was very unwelcoming, made me feel an intruder, asked me if i had to stay there before, when i looked at her is like she wanted to hear a yes, so I said yes, long time ago, i just wanted a place to stay, she sounded like she wanted to convince me not to stay, so i asked her to show me the room and when she showed me the room, i said i will take it, well it was pricey but wanted the experience of staying in that nice place, my birthday was coming soon that i wanted to relax just that night, every thing just coming from her felt so negative, she asked me for vac certificate and went and asked somebody, then came and said okay i could stay, i felt such a struggle with the lady or their policy, finally after i paid, i went to relax and going to my room could not open the darn door, that i had to ask for help, then they acted nice and offered me a glass of wine, i accepted but could not forget the struggle, then the best part came, the bed in number 8 was so freaking cold, must of taken a short nap that i had a nighmare so strong, is like it has two ghosts, one seem to be an employee male tall that seem to hate the owners and the other was a lady, i understood then why it was so cold, then I could not sleep fast and was midnight, i was entertained with a strog wind making noise, then i turn tv and such a lousy reception, that had to turn off and go into my cell then i inspected the room, dusty shutters, mold growing around the tub i started to cough not sure if from getting cold or from the dust. finally fell asleep and got up and went to breakfast, where i was enjoying my bagel the owner comes and asks me question from the guest card, said she had not met me, did not even welcome me just was interested in fact checking me, she grab my purse and sat in the floormy so she could sit in that chair at the table I was eating, but i guess an owner can do whaterver, gosh i really did not like it, you are paying so much for treating yourself, not making points with the owner, they dont care about you, so why the visit? but i guess some people find it interesting.then when the owner lady left she put her finger and pressed my right side of my front head, so irrespectful touching me there. I know owners of really good hotels and none will act like this lady.…
We recently spent a celebratory week-end in Julian CA. We didn't know what to expect, however, from the moment we were on the property we were smiling. The cottage we stayed in was spacious and well appointed, from the king-sized bed with its cushy linens to the double-sided fireplace and wing-backed chair. The delicious breakfast was always fresh and included local flavor. As wonderful as this all was, the thing that impressed us the most was the personnel. Every single person, from the owner to the housekeeping staff was congenial, knowledgable and accommodating. We will absolutely return!
We loved our 2 night stay in Julian at the Orchard Hill Country Inn. It was a quiet and relaxed atmosphere, the food was high quality, the amenities were charming, and the location was close to town and convenient - you really can't beat it!
Two friends and I stayed over night and had a great visit to Julian, Orchard Hill Inn was the perfect place to stay (walking distance to town) while we were there picking apples for a wonderful charity - Produce Good. The apples are so sweet this time of year and they will go to feed the homeless and food insecure. All of the staff at the Inn were fantastic and we loved the happy hour wine and cheese outside in the afternoon sun - really made the trip!
This was a nice little get away for us from the hustle and bustle of city life. Welcoming staff from the time of calling directly to book, to walking through the front doors at check-in, to the time we checked-out. When we called to book and inquired to horseback riding while we were in town, they stated they didn’t know off-hand, but would look into it, and they followed through with a quick turn around time of some suggestions, which showed stellar customer service (for any other guests wanting a trail ride, we highly recommend adding Integrity Stables as a go-to referral). The Inn is a great location, with just a short walk down to Julian’s Main Street, yet you still feel tucked away. They offer a complimentary hors d'oeuvres and wine/beer time daily, which was a welcome wind down from the day. We are glad one of the days of our stay their dining area was open for dinner (open on Sat. & Sun.) as we were seated with incredible mountain top views during sunset while eating absolutely delicious food! We were greeted for dinner by the owner and she verified our room and was aware of the food allergies noted, and this was given careful consideration throughout each course of the dinner. Being world travelers and having stayed at some of the best places, it truly is a sign that a place is outstanding when they take note of details like that, and it was indeed noted our first night there. One of the only reasons for not giving the 5/5 rating is that attention to detail of food allergies was not translated to our first breakfast. Having suffered from being Celiac most of my life, I’m use to being my own advocate and alerting others to not being able to have gluten when ordering food, so when we did not get the same awareness we experienced from the night before by our breakfast staff, I alerted her to it when ordering (again, no big deal I’m use to it) and was still brought a meal with it. Maybe it depends on what staff you get, as our next morning breakfast staff knew right away that our room was noted with this allergy and breakfast was superb. Our room was clean and quaint. The bed was comfortable. It was chilly enough the second night to turn the fireplace on and cuddle up with the robes provided and it made for a cozy stay. The only downfall was the walls are very thin as we could hear the cottage adjacent guests entire conversations all through the night, so it didn’t feel like an entirely private stay. We were fortunate the second night of our stay that there were new guests who were very quiet (not that the first night guests were loud, it just seemed to be that the walls are thin). We stayed in one of the cottages, which is attached to 2 other cottages, each with their own outdoor space with 2 chairs and a table. Sitting outside first thing in the morning with a cup of coffee or tea and taking in the fresh air and beautiful scenery was delightful. They also have a gift shop that we stopped in before heading out and picked up some of their house wine and other goodies.…
Can’t say enough about this beautiful weekend that I had it was above and beyond my expectations. It was my husband and my anniversary. We were welcomed with champagne in our room and he beautiful little cake we were so surprised weren’t expecting all this. We were greeted by everybody it was just so amazing just can’t say enough about how perfect are we can was. The rooms were spotless so beautiful and clean. I just want to think Pat the owner and her family for such a lovely time that we had. The breakfast the food was just so outstanding. I just can’t wait to go back thank you so much Pat and your family for such a beautiful stay that we had. Robbie and Dean Schlaufman
We LOVED our stay from the moment we arrived until it was time to leave after three days of luxuriating in this family owned and operated Country Inn. We wouldn’t change anything and look forward to returning for an even longer stay. The warm and welcoming culture and space design elements fostered an atmosphere where guests easily became acquainted with one another around the roaring fire in the fireplace, over breakfast or because everyone was friendly. It is nestled in the woods with beautiful landscaping and very close to downtown, several restaurants, hiking trails and local attractions.
