Big Cat exceeded all of our expectations, from Chuck and Nan's wonderful hospitality, to the amazing views and rustic, yet very comfortable amenities. We were completely in awe of the woodwork and personality this cabin has. It has been a truly magical experience and we plan to return very soon.

Big Cat Cabin is our favorite mountain get-a-way. We have been staying here 15+ years & it has never lost it's charm. Big Cat is in a beautiful, peaceful forest setting. The cabin itself is very large, open concept, vaulted ceilings, wood beams, floor to ceiling wood burning fire place, spotlessly clean & has so many large windows in every...

If you need to get away from everyday stress and become a happy positive person again then this is the place to go. The "New" Artist Loft is an incredible experience from the moment you walk in to the time you leave. Nestled in Pine Hills and surrounded by a mix of pine trees, oaks, and other chaparral vegetation the...

Out of all the places in the world we have stayed this has to be one of our favourites for its shear peace and tranquility and the care and attention put in to it by Chuck and Nan. We spent two wonderful nights in March in Strawberry Hill Cabin. We were greeted on arrival by Nan who showed us where...

My wife spent two blissful nights at the Artists Loft in Pine Hills, CA this past week. Chuck and Nan have created the Platonic Ideal of the mountain cabin, and our only regret is that we had to leave. This is truly a magical experience. Why? (a) location: Pines Hills is a quiet remote neighborhood near scenic Julian, CA meaning...

A feeling of amazement and serenity took over when I first drove into the beautiful & natural drive. When I entered into "Big Cat" I began...

OK, we are neighbors of the owners of the Artist's Loft B & B. So you may think we are biased in favor if this business. And we are, because we know that Chuck and Nan care about what their guests. You can expect a clean place to stay with wonderful views. Expect a few visits from the local deer....

Just came back from a one night stay at the Strawberry Hill Cabin, and it was not nearly long enough. It is so charming, from the wood burning stove to the incredible views of the mountains and the Pacific. Chuck and Nan are such lovely and warm people, and did a really great job of helping us to take advantage...

The way its built is impressive, the beautiful soild beams showing in the structure. There is a lot of natural wood and textiles such as wool and cotton...

My wife and I just spent two mid-week days at the Artists' Loft in Julian, CA. The cabin is absolutely lovely, inside and out. The view is magnificent. We were visited by several local deer early in the morning on the second day of our visit. The owners-managers were friendly and helpful. I hope to return during the fall, winter,...

“If you have friends/children that you'd like to bring along, it's worth it to rent the 2nd bedroom and be able to enjoy the entire property - makes it a little more affordable to share the cost between two couples. Both bedrooms are outstanding.”
