Recently refreshed rooms with LVP flooring which is way better than carpet. White bedspreads which is a must these days to ensure cleanliness ( old school printed ones definitely can hide nasty stuff and aren’t routinely washed). Inside of room had a cottage feel. I think they’re still in the process of the revitalization so soda/snack/ice machine wasn’t in use nor was the pool open since they had drained it to paint. Definitely quiet out here and can easily see the stars.

Family outing, four in room 5, two in room 2. Spacious and very clean rooms, nicely decorated, shower and toilet rooms good. Fridges, coffee machines in both rooms. Strange, almost unfriendly system for booking in and leaving, almost as if they don't want to meet their guests, all done via phones and codes. I did actually see and speck to someone, as my wife wanted to borrow a hair drier, I got it, but the guy shut and locked the door behind me as if I'd broken into reception and he was too busy to deal with anyone else.

Thanks for sharing your experiences with us. We do have a toucheless check in procedure, but always available should you want to check-in in person. We have found guests appreciate being able to go straight to their rooms vs. coming up to the front desk. We only lock the front desk when we our staff is moving to a different area of the hotel. We can be reached though and will return immediately should you need any assistance.

We didn’t expect much, and so were pretty satisfied. Personally, I liked the check in method. Super easy and no-contact due to Covid. The bed was comfortable and the remodeled room was cute and clean. We appreciated the Keurig with decent coffee, as well as the pet friendly attitude. As people mentioned, there is a No Drink order for the water, but we were given plenty of bottles. I’m sure we could have gotten more if we needed them.
I would have given 4 stars if a hair dryer had been provided as well as 2 more pillows. Neither was a super big deal, but would have just made our stay better.
But for $80? We were satisfied.

Thanks for your detailed review. We do offer complimentary hair dryers and can always send additional pillows at no charge. We did have hair dryers in the rooms but guests were taking them with them so we now offer them by request.

Hotel's Favorite
This is the 2nd time that we have been to Apple Tree Inn. The refurbishment was done very well. The heat and air conditioning work great and you get hot water right away. The check in and check out process is super easy. Jeremy's on the hill was great for dinner. Wynola is a cute little town and t's only a 5 minute drive to Julian. We will be back for another staycation.

I wrote this review after our visit but did not publish immediately because I did not want the owners to tie up a review with a specific guest. Also I have toned down what my spouse wanted me to write as they were horrified by what we paid and what we got. So this review will not include everything that is wrong with this motel.
Let’s start with the check in process. At check in time you receive a text with your room number and door code. Problems with this, you need to remember to have the phone with the number you used for the booking on you – not a problem for us, but I know many people who would forget. Also you need phone service which is not consistent in that area.
So having gone through the not efficient check in process, we got into our room. This looked nice, but you know the saying “if you put lipstick on a pig”? This was definitely trying to make the rooms look nice without making sure they worked. Doors don’t close, lights with nowhere to plug them in, bathroom sinks that look nice but are inefficient.
And as the cherry on top, still a pod in the Keurig machine.

Thanks for your honest review. Our rates are very competitive with the area hotels and can vary based on demand. We offer the seamless check in, but we have staff on site 24 hours per day. Most guests appreciate the efficiency, but those that don't have phones or prefer a live person are welcome to check in at the front desk. The inn keeper isn't always at the front desk, but a door bell at the front desk rings right to them and we have the phone number clearly posted. We will speak to the housekeepers about the coffee pod that was left from the previous guest. They are trained to remove the old pods and refill the machines after each guest.

My husband and I stayed here for a night before our friends' wedding at Sacred Mountain Julian. The contactless check in was convenient because we knew we were getting in late. We got a text the day of with information about our stay and the code for the key box. Code worked and we got in! Has everything you need for sleeping and getting ready. Bed was comfy. I brought my own pillow so I can't comment on the pillows. Perfect outlet placements for phone charging. The headboard is mounted to the wall and not attached to the bed so if you bumped it it kept kind of vibrating and hitting the wall so we put one of our jackets over it to prevent that from happening. The only thing I would request is to maybe put an outlet plug in near the vanity because I didn't have a place to plug in my curling iron to curl my hair where I could set the curling iron down in a convenient place. The light switch had an outlet but it was at such an awkward height and place. I had to switch between putting my curling iron in / near the sink or hanging it on the door handle. There is a Keurig machine in the room with K-Cups, sugar and creamer, and a fridge. Check out was very simple you just took the room key to the front office and put it in a drop box. Didn't get a picture inside the room but it was very clean, lights worked and there is an AC/heating unit on the wall in the main room. It is right across the street from the Julian farm and Orchard and that was very convenient, we definitely went over there and checked it out. It's only a 5-minute drive from the main part of Julian so that was great. We would definitely stay here again and for more nights because we wanted to hang out in Julian for more days but had to get back to work on Monday. Very cute inn and great location.

My significant other and I thought this was a cute looking motel and decided to try it. Mistake! First the OK stuff. We did like the check-in policy on cell phones. Quick and easy. We liked the availability of restaurants across the street with outdoor seating and heaters. Now the downsides: The room had no luggage racks on which to put our suitcases. There was no counter space in the bathroom so we had to work out of our suitcases. BUT the absolutely most gross thing was crusty dried stains on the sheets that looked like ejaculate! It was 9:00 PM so we had nowhere else to go. Calling the number in the room produced a hang up first, then someone answered the second time I called. He brought fresh sheets but said we’d have to change them ourselves. Ewww! This is the very last time we’ll stay here. What a waste of the $182 we paid for this hovel! I don’t even pay that much at a Marriott! Good luck if you decide to book.

Wow!!! We are quite shocked to see your review. We immediately came to your room and offered to change your sheets, but you chose to do it yourself. After closer inspection we found the stain you mentioned was an ink stain that did not come out with bleach and the hot water we washed the sheets with. We find your review unfair and biased as we would have been happy to move you a different room should you have wanted to do that instead.

I love Julian and when i return in 2 weeks, atleast that’s the plan, it will be my 3rd visit in a year to this amazing little motel. First it’s not in downtown Julian so you will have to drive into the cute town. Their is a pizza place across from it. I recommend if you are staying during the off season (during the week) get a kitchenette or rent the farm house as their is no place for breakfast in town. The rooms do have a small fridge so milk and cereal is an option.

Great walking distance to the pumpkin patch great restaurant nearby and short driving distance to in town Julian and Dons Market. Place was clean but would suggest to blow off debris from walking path and stairs. Fix very minor cosmetic exterior trim on windows, and refill all soap containers. While we were there they were painting the sign. Which was nice to see they were taking care of the place. Also, we asked for an early check in which they granted in without charging us extra!

I stayed with my mom and sister on a trip to see the desert in bloom. We arrived after dark and it was easy to find the Inn and pull off the highway. The directions on how to find our key were great. The rooms are spare but have everything you need. Everything was clean and tidy and worked. The manager responded quickly when we asked for extra TP. The headboards were squeaky, but the beds and bedding were just fine for comfort. I’d stay here again and would recommend the place.

We unfortunately do not have a washer and dryer on site.
All rooms remodeled as of September 2018 ! Farm House and all rooms have AC. Place is beautiful!
