The only modern hotel in downtown Julian still has that antique flair that so many come to Julian to experience! Modeled after the 1880's "Washington Hotel" and situated in the downtown business district, Julian Lodge is minutes from dining, shopping and all Julian-related activities. The Julian Lodge offers private accommodates suitable for one or two guests as well as family-friendly accommodations. The Julian Lodge is also pet friendly! We offer group rates, wedding blocks and special discounts for AAA, Senior, Veterans and PCT Hikers. Our rooms include brand new HDTVs with both satellite and streaming capabilities. Our rooms feature free wi-fi, premium bath amenities, coffee makers, and our Deluxe rooms feature a refrigerator, microwave, and additional space! Unfortunately, breakfast has been discontinued as of May 2020. Parking is available on-site for a $5.00 daily fee. Permit is required and is issued by the front desk.

Staff here is extremely helpful and friendly. Rooms are pretty basic. Fridge but no microwave. Larger bathroom in my room with high ceiling which was great. Walking distance to mostly everything on the main strip of town. Great place to stay after a day of hiking in the area (I was coming from Anza Borrego) if you can get a decent price.

Stayed at the Julian Lodge for four nights in October. I wanted to visit Julian and have access to the Desert and San Diego. From my very first contact with the front desk to check in I was impressed with how helpful the staff was. Carolina was very helpful during check in and even gave me some places to check out the beautiful sunrise and sunsets. I don’t know the names of the other staff members that I came in contact with but everyone was so friendly and helpful. The room was just enough to meet my needs and very pleasant. I hope to get back to Julian someday and the Julian Lodge will be the my getaway place to stay!
Thank you for everything and hope to visit again!!

Absolutely the worst place I have ever stayed. This was a last minute trip for an overnight getaway with my pregnant wife. We took a trip to Julian for the fall festivities with some friends and decided to stay the night. The Julian Lodge looks quaint and nice but it’s anything but. While visiting a small mountain town you expect prices to be a bit over the top. Beginning with a $180/night queen room that barely fit the bed seems a bit extra, but ok we are paying for location. Got it. Now, we have 2 pups that cost us $30/per so now we are up to $240/night. Ok our choice.
Now, sometime in the middle of the night my pregnant wife is trying to get out of bed to get to the bathroom in an unfamiliar place and has an accident and had a small spot of urine on the comforter. Most places this would not have been an issue since linens are typically laundered between guests (at least I’m assuming they do right?) Not the Julian Lodge. I received a very rude voicemail from the man working the front desk after we finished our breakfast (which the breakfast part of the bead and breakfast is not included right now because of Covid, but the price is still the same). He accused our dogs of soiling the sheets and demanded that I call him back immediately. When I called back there was no answer and I left a voicemail explaining the situation. I said that if he needed to discuss things further he could call me back. Now this evening I get an email (no more phone calls) that they had assessed damages of $120 for a duvee and comforter.
I called immediately to discuss this with the Lodge and was met with the absolute worst customer service ever. The manager Amanda’s response was “well maybe your wife should take precautions if this is going to happen.” Excuse me did you really just say that to an 8 month pregnant woman? First time that’s happened and it was in a dark and unfamiliar place. The only response I get is “well it’s unfortunate but that’s our policy” and that they had to throw the linens away. I truly find that hard to believe since another review reports a bed full of someone else’s hair when he went to go to bed. Let’s just stay that we don’t recommend staying in this overpriced room without a view unless you wish to be greeted with rude and unyielding staff. 100% not recommended

Hello Chad, we want to apologize your stay was unsatisfactory. For the safety of future guests and our team members all contaminated linen must be discarded. We would like to ensure you all blankets, comforters and sheets are washed in between guests. Thank you for your consideration with this matter and we hope you can continue to be safe during this time.

Absolutely awful and something I have never experienced prior. The Julian lodge decided to move our booking to a hotel 3 miles away and considerably lower category place without even informing us. When I called them the person at the reception had no clue. We got to know because the property where they moved us messaged to confirm. All of this on the morning of our checkin. Completely ridiculous. Also, they charged us the same price, absolutely unbelievable.

This was about our 17 th visit to this wonderful Boutique hotel - our favourite in all of Europe. This time we stayed two weeks. We were the first to occupy the newly-renovated #402. Very tastefully updated, with all new bathroom and very comfortable furniture. As always, the breakfasts are so extensive, we hardly need any lunch. Most of all, we love all of the staff, many of whom we have come to know very well over the years. They are always so kind and accommodating to our every wish. We have already booked a return visit for next winter, this time accompanied by some of our Canadian family.

Came up midweek without a reservation and got a room a few hours later after it was cleaned. Kid and pet friendly. CLEAN. Place was maintained well. Continental breakfast was canceled because of Covid. Central location in Julian. Employees all seem happy there and make recommendations of stores to visit. I like that the town supports each business and I believe this is a mom n pop owned business which I want to support. For sure coming back soon!

Booked a room with free cancellation up to one week in advance. Called daily for 4 days asking to change my reservation to 2 weeks later. Left messages each day but No one EVER bothered to call back. Ended up paying for a room I never used. I understand that small hotels are struggling during COVID, but returning calls is a must.

We did not stay in this lodge when we visited Julian but we checked it out for future visits. Our friends, however, stayed here so we were able to look at their accommodation.
The one room that we looked at had big room and spacious bathroom. There was even a small coffee maker in the room. The lobby had coffee in the morning for guests. One added bonus to staying in this lodge is that it has parking for guests.

Very nice, clean, well-appointed place to stay in Julian, just off main street, close to everything, good off-street parking, very good staff. We stayed in one of the king suites, up stairs, and enjoyed the extra roominess. Hopefully we can return some day. Only downside was the walls, being a little thin (consistent with age of the building), allowed us to "enjoy" everything said by a noisy party that arrived late at night. Breakfast was pretty good.

How much for the weekend room for my husband and me?
Answer from Monique L
Oceanside CA26 contributions4 helpful votes
We had the dogs which was an additional 30$ and we had a room with fridge and micro. With tax, it was $184 for a Saturday I believe so without the dogs would have been 150. Without extras (fridge/microwave)was less and Sun- Thurs is less. They book up for the weekends it sounds like and that is why we had to get the higher priced room.
