We recently planned a 3 day stay with multiple events for a birthday celebration at Timber Cove and were blown away by the experience there. We heard nothing but rave reviews all week from the hosts and their guests. They felt incredibly pampered. I worked for many years in a director position for a Forbes 5 star resort and now have a luxury event planning company that travels around around the country planning events with Four Seasons, Ritz, Auberge Resorts, etc. - I know how much work and training goes into providing the best guest experiences and we were so pleased with what we experienced at Timber Cove. The entire team was incredibly helpful, kind, willing to work outside of the box to customize their offerings, and truly just a delight. The property itself is clean, charming, a welcome retreat from the busy world, and so beautifully situated overlooking the ocean. No one wanted to leave. This property is perfect for a buyout and either social or corporate incentive groups, or just as a great weekend getaway! …
Booked a "forest view room" and we got a "parking lot view room" - see pic for our view. Upon arrival, went right to the manager on site to express my disappointment and he told us "yes, this is what we market as a forest view room" and shot me a look that said "Too bad, we're the only game in town". No attempt at an accommodation even when I offered to pay for an ocean view room which are severely overpriced. Worse yet was that there was an event and these trucks were loading and unloading starting at about 6:30 AM and then again well past midnight. Room was dated and was dirty with used straw wrappers, a dirty curtain which was partially detached from the rail and a toilet with a tank stopper that kept coming loose causing the toilet to run and a ceiling sunroof shade with a remote that wasn't working. We did enjoy the restaurant for breakfast and one dinner. Had our other dinner down the road in Jenner at River's End which was far superior. Also enjoyed walking the Timber Cove grounds and the firepit out back at night. Our time off the "resort" was by far the most enjoyable with a visit to Salt Point State Park to hike and another day down in Jenner on the Red Hill Trail off of Shell Beach. The hikes saved the weekend by keeping us away from Timber Cove. 2 stars - 1 for the restaurant and the grounds, 1 for the time away from the captive lodge, 0 for the dated, dirty room with the "forest (parking lot) view".…
We enjoyed the outdoor space and the surrounding region, especially Salt Point State Park and Red Hill trail down in Jenner by Shell Beach. Unfortunately, our room was overlooking the parking lot even though it was marketed as a “forest view” room. The hotel staged an event for the weekend and they loaded and unloaded trucks right outside our room rather than in a more remote section of the parking lot which would have been very easy to do. This occurred in early morning and late night, past midnight. Upon arrival, we asked to change rooms and they could not accommodate us and made no attempt to do so. It is a remote site and you will be a captive audience as it’s basically the only game in town. Meals were good and our waiter Shannon got them to 3 stars as well as our hikes off property. Otherwise, 1.5 for us. Would consider going back to an ocean facing room, but unlikely. …
We had an exceptional time at Timber Cove, which is now my favorite getaway by the coast. The hotel is wonderfully maintained, the staff are great, the restaurant was also great. No complaints at all.
Lovely lodge in a dramatic setting along Highway 1. Warm & friendly service make this a great place to relax and unwind. We came here for a last-minute trip to get away from the city and it hit the spot.
The location is absolutely stunning. A bit hard to enjoy in the afternoon and evening because the wind really picks up. Our suite was very long and tunnel like. There is no HVAC, only a gas fireplace that nobody tells you how to operate. No towel bars in bathroom and very little counter space. Our kitchen consisted of a fridge and electric hot water kettle. Can’t reheat leftovers or cook anything so you are stuck with the very expensive restaurant food during the hours they are open. Almost all the vinyl was scratched or warped. On the upside, they are dog friendly and all staff was very nice.
The property grounds and staff were simply wonderful. We had a coastal view and it felt like a fake backdrop there whole week we were there. There were some fun amenities also. Pool table, board games, record players in each room with a record library in the lobby. There was free beer/wine tasting every Tuesday/Thursday from a local brewery/winery. We were even able to bring our little pup. What an amazing property. The one drawback is the limited food options and no microwave to be able to warm up any leftovers. Be prepared to spend a lot of money at the restaurant and bar on the grounds. There aren’t many food options close to the property and on the menu of the property restaurant. Luckily the options that were available were good quality.
Took a solo birthday trip up the coast and am so happy that I found this place. Was an amazing experience from start to finish and can honestly say that it is now one of my most favorite places on Earth! Can't wait for my next visit.
The view was breathtaking, Hotel was so into the details of everything! I recommend room service on the deck! The trails around the property were great to walk. We love coffee and the coffee and tea in the room were great and plenty of it! We loved this part of our vacation the best!
We had a magical 24 hours at Timber Cove. We stayed in an Ocean View room on the second floor with phenomenal views of the Pacific. The room was cool and well-appointed. The fireplace and the record player were nice touches. Honestly, we had a blast. The whole atmosphere was pretty special. I had been concerned by some of the negative reviews online -- ranging in topic from quality of the rooms to quality of the views to quality of the service. I wouldn't pay too much attention to them in retrospect. There seem to be some generally unhappy people out there who tend to find fault with things no matter how nice. This is a very cool hotel with a hip, understated, and rustic sense of luxury. I left thinking that some of the negative reviews were maybe from people who were after a different kind of luxury -- perhaps more of the traditional manicured lawns and white table cloths variety. I focus on all of this only because I worried a good deal about the negative reviews online and wished someone online had been able to reconcile them for me. If you're after cool understated luxury in one of the most beautiful places in the world, you'll enjoy this place. …
