NEW OWNERSHIP AS OF FEBRUARY 2016. Where the scenic Russian River meets the crashing Pacific, the landmark Jenner Inn is being reborn. Its new owners are painstakingly restoring the historic inn, room by charming room, transforming the hostelry into a destination worthy of its breathtaking setting. Charlie Coyne, along with wife Katie and his cousins Marty and Tom, are the principals of Dublin Square, the family-owned company that is behind the renovation and rebirth of the Jenner Inn. The Coyne family has demonstrated its ability to breathe new life into historic properties and create superior hospitality experiences. A native Northern Californian, Charlie was practicing law in the 1980’s in San Rafael when his brothers brought him on board to join them in resurrecting the foundering Delta King stern-wheeler that used to ferry passengers across the San Francisco Bay. Under the Coyne family’s leadership, the Delta King is now a thriving hotel and restaurant operation moored on the Sacramento River in Old Sacramento. Tracing its roots to 1904, the Jenner Inn began life as a lumber mill, and played a critical role in the rebuilding of San Francisco after the 1906 earthquake and fire. The mill closed in 1914 when the town consisted of some fifty buildings, seven of which are today part of the Jenner Inn. After the original hotel on the site was destroyed by fire in 1948, the current main structure was built—a one-of-a-kind redwood building with galleon windows, wheel beamed ceilings, and solid oak floors—its design reminiscent of a sailing ship (not surprising since the craftsmen who constructed it were Swedish boat-builders). The building is believed to have been designed by an associate of famed architect Julia Morgan. Today the Jenner Inn is a collection of 21 rooms and free-standing cottages scattered throughout the village, many of them dating to the era of the town’s founding. The Coyne family’s vision for the property is to maintain the inn’s legendary charm while updating its decor, furnishings and amenities. Most important, the inn aims to meld seamlessly with its setting, capitalizing on the surrounding natural scenery, quaint village atmosphere, and proximity to Sonoma Wine Country. Because each room is unique, prices will vary, but the goal is to offer a romantic destination emphasizing the natural beauty and activities of west Sonoma, including kayaking, whale and seal watching, abalone diving, fishing, bicycling and the world class Sonoma wine and food bounty. Several rooms are being designated as pet friendly. Renovation of the inn is occurring in stages, one building at a time, with the hotel continuing to operate throughout the process. Guests may choose from any of eight lodging types, ranging from the cottages with waterfront, meadow or grotto views; to the Jenner House’s comfortable creek side rooms and suites; to private studios. Many have kitchens, most have water views, some have private decks, and all offer comfort, privacy, and charm. In coming months the Jenner Inn’s dining room will include a full bar, and restaurant, beginning with full made-to-order breakfast for guests. The Coyne family’s vision for the Jenner Inn grows from Charlie’s experience as general manager of the Delta King Hotel and Restaurant for twenty-two years, as well as involvement in other hospitality projects in Northern California. An avid abalone diver, Charlie happened upon the Jenner Inn while returning from a diving trip. Dublin Square LLC purchased the Jenner Inn in February 2016, opening the door to another adventurous chapter for the Coyne family. Says Charlie Coyne, “ Our attraction to the Jenner Inn mirrors what motivated our purchase of the Delta King. We will be guardians of an incomparable asset with significance that transcends our ownership. We view the Jenner Inn as a treasure of historic proportion and natural beauty that cannot be duplicated. Our emphasis will be to accent the inherent attractions of the Jenner Inn and west Sonoma County. We were elated at the opportunity to acquire such a unique property located so close to the Bay Area. “

I am looking forward to returning to the Jenner Inn later this month. Our last stay was in the Pomo bungalow which we LOVED. I was sad to learn they no longer accept small dogs in that particular room. It has a huge table great for puzzling while drinking wine and watching the ocean. It had a great deck for enjoying the small yard and was nice to sit out there with our tiny dog safely. The kitchen was lovely and huge and well equipped and the place had TWO bathrooms!! We don't even have two bathrooms at home so that was a treat. The breakfast was awesome, ample and leftovers were nice to take hiking later in the day. We have two upcoming reservations for two other rooms. We were trying to gauge the table size in the pictures for puzzling while we enjoy water views with our dog and a good glass of wine. We can't afford to own a whole coastal cabin or a sea ranch timeshare, but we can afford a few visits to the Jenner Inn each year which is a wonderful second option.

Misrepresented accommodation! Reservations for three very senior travelers on 3/2/22. $300.00. A beautiful rainy day and a nice quaint room with a view of the sea… The management assured us that it would accommodate three because it featured a comfortable hide a bed…Wrong! The hide a bed featured protruding springs In a 4” mattress, that was not usable. I (6-4), had to sleep on a well used 5’ couch, and the ladies slept in a well used queen size. The good part was the Continental Breakfast: (in a box that included 3 Nature bars & fruit, gaff included) Naturally, the manager was gone & the office was closed… thanks for the. memories! Joseph B. We stayed in two different rooms, the Milky Way and the Monte Rio. Without a doubt, the Monte Rio was the absolute winner!!!!! It was bigger than my own apartment, had FAR MORE privacy and less noice than the Milky Way and was just truly truly perfect. I would come back to Jenner just to spend time in the Monte Rio again. The Milky Way was a nice room but there are NO CURTAINS in the bathroom. Literally, someone goes onto the balcony, they can see you on the bathroom. Same with kayakers and possibly one of the rooms above you. The staff were all super sweet, the area gorgeous and overall just a great place to unwind.

Very satisfied with the room. Simple and in a great location. Quiet. Staff helpful and friendly. Clean. Wish the comforter was softer. It was very stiff and like dead weight. That was our only complaint. Quite a lot to do around the area. We will return.

We came here to celebrate an anniversary. The room we wanted (with outdoor deck) was unavailable so we stayed in the Starlight Cottage adjacent to the roadway. The plus was that you didn’t have to descend a steep stairway to reach your room but the negative was you didn’t have an outdoor deck to sit on. Nevertheless, the room had three huge windows from which we could enjoy the spectacular views of the Russian River. The room was also very large and despite it being next to the roadway it was very quiet. The room was furnished with two sitting chairs & coffee table & comfortable lounge chair & had a dining table with two chairs. The room also had a kitchenette with sink, plates, cups, wine glasses & stainless steel flatware which was convenient! BreaKfast in a box (juice, muffins, banana, etc.) was provided for Covid-safety as on site restaurant was closed. At 4pm when we checked in we were unaware there are almost no restaurants in town. The hotel staff recommended two places but one place was out of everything we wanted to order & the other was closed for the day. A nicer restaurant was booked requiring advance reservations, which staff suggested we do the next morning (good tip). So we picked up take out food in Bodega Bay. (If driving in from south best to stop in Bodega for dinner first). Staff was very helpful & on our last day we rented a tandem kayak which was quite enjoyable—especially after having watched so many other people kayaking from our room! Very peaceful & idyllic place to stay.

Stayed at the Jenner Inn in the Sonoma Room for 2 nights. It was perfect for us. The room was clean and quiet. The view from the balcony was amazing. The to go breakfast was plenty for my husband and I. No cell phone service, but that just adds to the appeal for me. The inn has a phone if you really need it. Wi fi worked fine. All employees we interacted with were friendly and helpful. Overall we loved it and definitely would return in the future.

Lovely little inn in a convenient location where the Russian River meets the Pacific Ocean. Clean room with comfortable bed. Continental breakfast in a bag because of COVID. Staff was kind, friendly and welcoming. I would stay here again.

We needed an overnight getaway and with Covid complications we decided to stay close to home. My husband and I escaped to the Jenner Inn ( 50 minutes from home) where we spent a cozy, relaxing and quiet overnight on the Russian River. So close to the ocean we could hear it from our balcony! Every staff member welcomed us with warmth, hospitality and a professional style. Jenner Inn has kayaks for rent so for two hours we had some river fun and even pulled up to a local cafe to hear some live music while sitting in our double kayak. We ordered take out from the River's End Restaurant (delicious) and ate dinner while enjoying local wines on our large deck at sunset. We stayed in the Milky Way and highly recommend it. Next time we will stay for a minimum of two nights!

Wanted a getaway during these crazy times, so headed up the coast. This is a series of cottages alongside Rt 1 in Jenner. I stayed in the Fort Ross queen suite. The view was stunning and the accommodations comfortable. There is a full size stove/oven, microwave, part size refrig, assortment of dishes, pots & pans. It worked for me as I didn’t want to do a lot of cooking. The cottages are located right along Rt 1 so if there were a lot of traffic it could be noisy. Included breakfast was a “bag lunch” of fruit, yogurt and pastry due to restrictions.

Feeling cooped up in my house I felt the need for a quick getaway by myself. Bodega Bay and the Jenner Inn seemed like a good option...which it was. Rustic cabins, comfortable and quiet. Yes, wifi barely works, which was not necessarily a bad thing, I actually enjoyed being disconnected. It worked pretty well late evening, not so well during the day. I stayed in the River Otter room for 2 nights, as I said it was comfortable, bed was nice., slept well. You do hear the neighbors next door a bit as you may expect from a cabin, but it was fine...not a big deal. My disappointment in the trip, which has nothing to do with the inn was the Covid restrictions on restaurants. Everything was take out only. I really wanted to sit and enjoy some fine dining. Oh well, maybe next trip. Overall a very enjoyable stay, if you want a different experience,,,this is your place. Not your typical hotel, but a beautiful rustic room away from the beaten path.
