I was looking to say somewhere the had a story and the National hotel ft the bill. I loved the possibility of saying hello to Flo the resident ghost. Great historic hotel in Jamestown, that was clean, comfortable and historic. I was in town for the Sonora Gold show and wanted to stay somewhere that had some history to it. Wonderfully... More

Lisa....Thank you for your positive response. Indeed, it was a pleasure to meet and talk with you, especially, with all the gold knowledge that you shared. The fact that we accept gold dust upon check-out from the hotel is not just a novelty, but a continuation of history in the West. Thank you again and we look forward to seeing... More

We enjoyed our dinner and stay here so much the first time in June, that we arranged our schedule so we could stay here again and have a wonderful meal on their patio again in August. Historic hotel rooms are beautifully detailed, each different decor. I love their cheese tortellini, just as good as the first time, and my husband... More

On our roadtrip in California this summer we had a night in Jamestown. As we entered the little town we felt we were back in the wild West. Such a lovely town! We ended up in National Hotel, and were given excellent service. The room was clean and very cosy. Own clean bathroom with original pipesystems! A lot of history... More

If you need a quick getaway but still want a cozy atmosphere, this is for you! Here you can experience both history and comfort. I have to first say that my husband and I decided very last minute to book a weekend getaway, and after plans A and B for more "exotic" places many hours from home fell through, we... More

Thank you for your wonderful and detailed response. We always strive to give the best service, possible. Indeed, this is a very unique property and it is one of the 10 oldest continuously operated hotels in California. The only clarification that we would make, is that during the summer season, our restaurant is open to the public until 10:00 pm,... More

We have been here several times and enjoyed it each time. An old hotel from the 1800's, very quaint. The staff is great and the restaurant and bar are really good. Lots of shopping on the street. Be on the look out for "Flo", the hotel ghost. Clean rooms and no tv's.

Historic and charming hotel in historic and charming Jamestown: old buildings, wood sidewalks, interesting shops, pretty Golden State vistas. The hotel features gorgeous original hardwood floors; a beautiful original bar - ask to see the Prohibition-era "speakeasy." Very friendly and competent staff. Very clean hotel. Great furnishings and finishes in the rooms; modern conveniences but period-authentic. Very comfortable beds; great... More

My wife and daughter and I stayed here for two nights at the end of May on our way to explore Yosemite. The hotel is really characterful - all Victorian colonial style full of antique furniture. The staff were really helpful and friendly especially Daniel in the bar. He looked after us boozy Brits with real style and good humour... More

Nice bar, dating back to the 1850s. Cozy, comfortable room. Pleasant 2nd story porch. Great breakfast buffet. Friendly employees. It was an excellent choice--unique, historic, memorable, on Main Street, with easy parking.

If you are willing to spend $32 for a very nice baked potato, this is the place to come too. I brought my Mom, grandmother and friend for dinner here last night for Mothers Day. We had a 4pm reservation. There were only 6 other people in the restaurant at 4pm. They sat us down and advised immediately that they... More

I wish to thank you for what I assume is a review that comes from honest feelings. The problem that I am having, is that the review runs counter to almost all that I observed, or to those comments made by the server, who has worked here for a long time and is not prone to making excuses. 1. We... More

Walked in to the National restaurant you feel like you go back in time. They had a great menu for a fun getaway with friends. Had the special steak with peppercorn sauce. Hubby had the fish dinner with fig sauce. Dessert was a great experience with cherry jubilee. It's a must do they use fresh herbs also displayed as center... More
