We did feel like the nightly rate was steep for what it was, especially since the pool area was under construction which was not advertised when we booked. But the hotel had some fun concessions that added to the experience. The sunset reception on the rooftop was awesome, our host Cecilia was amazing, and the hotel restaurant was excellent.
This is first time visiting this town. This hotel is located right in-front of Imperial beach! The hotel provide complimentary drinks and appetizers from 5-6pm at rooftop, and a server named Cecilia at sunset reception was very nice and attentive! It was one of the best sunset in California.
We loved staying at pier south. Our room had a balcony overlooking the beach and there were tons of great restaurants nearby. They had a lovely sunset reception each evening with complementary appetizers and drinks. Cecilia was lovely and she took some great pictures for us. We would definitely stay here again!
Madison greeted us with open arms. The lobby was inviting and comfortable. The room was magnificent and a view of the beach. Wow. Room was clean and quiet. The beach is 5 Steps away. Raul in maintenance was kind and helpful in the elevator. We will be Back To this destination
Sunset drinks on the roof! And Cecelia did a great job, went above and beyond to get awesome pictures with us and the view! Nice room, easy check in. Wonderful experience, stayed here with my daughter for a mommy/daughter night!
I normally don’t post a review but I’m making an exception. The staff was pleasant and genuine in wanting to help. The rooms were clean and bigger than expected. The views are amazing. I want to mention one team member specifically. Cecelia was kind and offered great tips/recommendations for hanging out in the area. She was attentive and patient. Very good qualities to have in a field where great service is becoming rare.
Beware if you are staying at this hotel over the next few weeks! Arrived last week for a romantic stay with my partner. Snafu with the check in time although I called mid-morning before we headed to the hotel and was told my requested check in time would not be a problem. The room was ready about 2 hours later after many conflicting updates from the front desk. Not the end of the world, but just the start of a terrible experience. In my 20 years of staying at Marriott this was by far the worst. We have stayed at this hotel before and had a wonderful time, utilizing the pool/jacuzzi/pool deck-bar, and lots of time on our balcony. Upon check in we noticed a sign that the pool/jacuzzi was closed for upgrades which was definitely a bummer as we planned to use both. While waiting for our room we walked around outside and noted that while the pool was drained the lounge outside of the pool we there and open so we could still relax outside over the next few days. We were wrong. Early the next morning we were awoken by very loud noises that did not stop. When I got up and opened the balcony door there were 3 construction workers with jackhammers doing demolition to the pool, which was right in front of our room. Completely baffled as to how the front desk did not tell us that construction was starting the following morning, especially considering that they put us in the room closest to the pool, and which was also directly in our “ocean view”. See pics for proximity, room 211. There was not a comparable room available so moved to a “partial view” which was on the street side, with mainly a view of the hotel building. Ended up checking out a day early and leaving. I was told that I should have known about the pool because it is on the website, which it was not when I booked. I still don’t see it and when I called the ambassador line she also confirmed it was not in her system. The hostess for the sunset drinks and appetizers ..starts with a C ….- super friendly and bubbly- loved her energy and outstanding customer service on a night when we were bummed we couldn’t use the top deck. She made it fun 👍🏼😊
Cecilia was phenomenal as a host bar tender! She checked in on us before we realized our snacks were dwindling. The view was amazing and would bring us back again, even before considering the hospitality and service, which is a double plus!
Checked in for 4 night stay. Room I was given AC/Heat does not work. Only solution given was rusty portable fan. Longtime Marriott member 18 years, Platinum Elite for 15 years and this was the best solution. Have stayed at property in past. Also, had rooms upcoming that were cancelled. Not impressed anymore.
