Renee and William were wonderful hosts.
They are very friendly, helpful and responsive. The location of the Surf Inn is very convienient to the beach (right across the street). The Huntington Beach Pier is three blocks south, restaurants, bars and shopping are all a short walk away. All this for the most reasonable price in town! Although the rooms are not posh or upscale, they are very clean, comfortable and provide everything a person really needs. For me that includes a refrigerator, great shower, TV and a comfortable bed. As far as an ocean view goes, some of the rooms have a view. But, just step outside any room onto the walkway/balcony for an impressive view of ocean surf and the most spectacular sunsets one could hope for. One amenity that is very helpful is in every room there are
a Beach umbrella, two chairs and beach towels for guests to use. The rooms are decorated in different beach surf themes, which adds to the fun.
The only thing I did not like about the surf Inn is that the rooms are above the parking garage so you must climb stairs to access the rooms, no elevator. This is only a small consideration compared to the great time you will have!

Room Tip: I prefer rooms 6 and 7 because they are shaded from the hot western exposure.

The best location if you want to hang at the beach or main st, you get the real experience of downtown H.B like the locals down to the decor of the rooms. For me I loved it as it brought back so many memories as I grew up right down the street being able to just walk or ride my bike to the water. Plus there is no silly addition fees when you arrive not even parking fees. Can’t wait to go back.

Our stay at this hotel room was just right. It's not fancy, but has cool surfer decor and it was very clean and comfortable. Very friendly staff! We didn't have maid service the next morning, however that is not necessary for us and if you need extra towels, you can just ask the front desk. The hotel is pretty small with roughly 9 rooms, so it has that personal touch to it. There is a 7 / 11 right next to it in case you need ice or other supplies. Just a short walk across the street and you are at the beach, perfect.

We had a wonderful beach vacation due to the hospitality of Huntington Surf Inn. Our original reservation was for a king bed room, but they gladly switched us to the double queen bed room when we asked, at no additional charge! The manager/owner even helped carry our bags up the stairs and would not accept any gratuity. The rooms are clean and comfortable and a 7/11 is next door for any last minute needs! Just across the Pacific Coast Highway from the beach and conveniently located a few blocks from the Huntington Beach Pier and numerous restaurants.

We loved our stay. The hotel is smaller and each room is unique. The staff and hotel in general had a more personal feel as a result We loved the shared balcony that overlooks the ocean. We had breakfast on it, and watched the sunset, it was also close enough to our room that we were able to go out and hang out after the kids were asleep. They had beach chairs, beach towels and boogie boards and sand toys that are shared with other guests. The bathroom was bigger than I expected and the shower was perfect for getting sand off of our kids. Also the location was perfect as it is right across the street from the beach and an on beach playground. The hotel doesn't provide breakfast (but has a refrigerator and lots of local places to get breakfast), a laundry room or an ice machine. Overall we'd definitely come back!

I truly appreciated the hospitality shown to us by the manager!! She was always smiling and took care of me and my nephews who were visiting from out of town. I love the quick access to the beach and dining and my car was parked right under our rooms so it was extremely convenient. The hotel has only 9 rooms and is very quaint, clean, and cozy and above all the property is unique. At night the AC was very cold so we got a great night's sleep bundled under the warm blankets. The price was great and we were close to all the action being only two blocks from Main Street and Huntington Pier. Thank you for making our stay so enjoyable and above all for making it a personal experience for us as well. The recommendations to the best local bike rentals and restaurants were perfect! Can't wait to go back again soon.

. Honestly, the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in.

No ventilation in the bathroom (no window nor did the extractor fan work) leaving the bathroom misty after taking a shower and leaving it smelly. Beds were extremely uncomfortable, might as well have slept on their sun loungers. The room was covered in dust. Under the beds were filthy with dirt and looked like they had been forgotten about for years.

AND the worst part of the stay were the hotel managers. Completely unprofessional, rude, and dramatic about everything! Good luck with getting clean towels. We practically had to threaten to leave and call the owners to receive them. The woman (we’ll call her “the wife” since she refused to give us her name) was over the top. If you were unhappy about anything she took it as a direct threat. Completely ridiculous and extremely unhelpful. They both should not be in the hospitality business. I hope the owners (Jennifer and Tap Van Phi) do themselves a favor and fire them both.

I could go on but I’m not going to waste any more time. I have honestly never been anywhere and met such rude staff. If you are not majorly bothered by the cleanliness of your room and terrible hospitality, this is your place. However, if you care about cleanliness, and want to be treated like a paying customer without feeling like you're being monitored DO NOT STAY HERE!

This place is absolutely wonderful!! This isn’t a five star posh hotel and they aren’t pretending to be. What they are is such a cool, surfer vibe hotel. The manager, Barbara, is absolutely the best. She goes out of her way to make guests feel welcome and comfortable. Our room had a comfortable king size bed, microwave, mini fridge, flat screen tv, iron & board, little table and 2 chairs, dressers, 2 beach towels and 2 beach chairs (yes, to use on the public beach). The only thing I would have wanted was a coffee maker but with the 7-11 being next door, it was fine. Bathroom was well stocked with linens. Important to me is that the place was clean!! The deck is great for sunset views and of course people watching. And the very best is the location! Across the street from beach. Short walk (few minutes) to downtown and the pier. Overall, a great place to stay and I highly recommend!

This is a no bells or whistles kind of place, but at the same time, a very unique and cool vibe in the heart of HB. It is more than enough for basic needs; microwave, mini fridge, and definitely walkable to most places you're going to want to go. The beach is just across the street, a great coffee house is a walk to the corner, and Main Street a few blocks away. Do know the place is older, and has been remodeled and revamped several times, so the Hyatt Regency, it is not. If I had to give one bad knock it would be the carpet. I have stayed in 2 different rooms over the years, and in both rooms the carpets were very dirty and sticky in spots. Not a deal breaker; I just put down beach towels down (that they provide) during my stay, and I was good to go. Other than that, I cannot fault this place. It has every convenience you're going to want in a motel style setting

Stayed three nights for business and again loved the funky vibes of this mid century motel reborn with artist's California beach themes in each room.
This time I was in the "Reclaimed Room" with reclaimed wood paneling and vintage surf music album covers. Its a very generous sized room and bathroom.
The place was spotless. Fast internet and convenient in the sense of you didn't have to keep logging back in each day of your stay. Microwave and fridge. If you need coffee, there is a 7-11 next door. Free parking is below the motel, all the rooms are up small sets of stairs.
Since my last stay, the onsite management is new, and Long and his staff are friendly & efficient.
I appreciated that the door locks/deadbolts have been replaced and improved since last summer (I had commented on a janky door lock in a different room after I stayed in 2022....). The beach is just across PCH, what a great location. Make sure and eat at Sancho's Tacos, about a block away.

Hello. Thank you so much for your interest. We do not rent out fishing poles, however there are facilities at the Pier that can easily help you with rentals. There are many choices for coffee services with a 7-Eleven almost next door to us, and great coffee shops in the next block. Hope to have the opportunity to serve you soon!
