We stayed just one night at the Grape Leaf Inn but left wishing we booked more nights!

This was out first hotel/overnight stay during COVID, but with masks required in shared areas and a sticker-sealed clean room, we felt quite safe. We arrived and were given glasses of bubbly and macarons, YUM! We took advantage of a free wine tasting at one of their partner wineries. And enjoyed some time relaxing in the huge tub! Maybe my only wish was that the pillows were thicker/fluffier, they were a bit flat. But the breakfast the next morning... omg to die for. Fresh ingredients and packed with flavor. Fresh juices and locally roasted coffee!

I will definitely stay here again.

First the criticisms: Our room was smaller than the wide angle photo made it appear with only one chair. Not meant to be hung out in I suppose. It was also on the street so we heard the garbage truck one morning. The window facing the street could use a privacy shear, and the shade on the window to the side had to be propped open with a spoon. In house internet was weak. No microwave available (possibly due to covid, but I don't get it.) We needed to get up early one day and wanted coffee. No way to get that either. Getting the water temp right for showers was a challenge! Hot water is scalding-literally and shower faucet finicky, a micro turn the wrong way and the water burned. We learned to get the temperature right in the tub faucet and then turn it to shower. Lastly, we could not control the heat/cooling in our room. We tried, even called, but couldn't get it to turn off, and so slept too warm. I mention these things for informational purposes, because we still had a nice stay! We chalked most imperfections up to the age of the house which is after all, it's charm. The bed was very comfy, and when asked for extra pillows they were given. The wine and macaroons were thoughtful and delicious. I broke one of the glasses and was graciously forgiven. Towels, robes (I used for the spa) absorbent and big. Lotions and soaps very nice, and I appreciate the Grape Leaf not using tiny plastic bottles for everything! The pool/spa was amazing! I appreciated the warmth of the water! Lastly, the breakfasts were so very delicious! You just can't get food like that in hotels. Even the morning we got up too early for a seated breakfast, the staff prepared a to go box with fresh fruit, fresh yogurt, home made granola and hard boiled eggs (could have used a bit of salt and pepper- and we had to stop for coffee) which we pic nicked on after our balloon ride! Staff was cordial and price point as expected. Healdsburg is a darling town and the Grape Leaf is easy walking distance to the town square and all it offers.

Hi Ariel. Thank you for the very thoughtful review. We do appreciate guests' feedback and we will be looking at your points, particularly the window shade. (Yes, our place IS a 100+-year-old Victorian house, so there are some, shall we save, "charming-though-not-so-modern" parts to it.) But glad you loved the bed; yes, our location is ideal; and YES our Chef Will really rocks-and-rolls in the kitchen for breakfast! Stay safe, and we hope to see you back again soon! I cannot rave enough about our experience at the Grape Leaf Inn. The service was top-notch, whether it be chatting with Ve about wineries or tasting rooms to visit, the treats at the end of the day, or the gorgeous room that we stayed in. The Merlot room is outstanding, and the bathtub is an absolute dream. We fell in love with the space, especially the stained glass window, and the sky lights.

The breakfast was sooooooo delicious; we loved the lemon madeleines, fresh squeezed juice, frittata, and incredible pancakes (with salt on top of a pat of butter). From the breakfast to the tastings at the Wilson wineries, there are endless touches, both small and large, that made our stay here absolutely perfect. I hope to be back as soon as I'm able to return! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

While Will made some of the most wonderful breakfasts we've ever eaten, and our host Vee was as lovely and professional as anyone could ever be, we had the worst sleep of our lives for 5 straight nights on a mattress that was the most worn-out mattress of any overnight establishment in our experience of 40 years of travel. Both sides were so sunken that it left a large hump in the middle which took great effort for either my spouse or I to climb over to even get close to one another. Our backs were achy, and it left us bewildered. How could this be in a place that we've loved so much before? We've stayed in this BnB two other times in the past 12 years, under different ownership, and were saddened to see deferred maintenance left and right, mainly in the bathrooms with missing or yucky caulk, loose faucets, shower door gasket dragging, keeping the door from closing, etc. We peaked in the other rooms to see if the bathrooms were better and they were not. The inn was going to be full for the weekend and did not want to sik our terrible bed on another customer, so just chalked it up to a bad experience. As a punishment to the current owners (Wilson family), they should be made to stay in the Syrah room for a week.

Hi Katherine, Thank you for sharing your comments. We're very disappointed that your stay didn't meet your expectations. We wish you would have mentioned your bed issues to someone during your (lengthy) stay -- things can (and do!) go wrong, and we have an entire team in place to make changes/repairs as needed. We are looking into this issue and will make the appropriate amends. Savvy travelers should know that guests show stayed at Grape Leaf under its previous owners are not always thrilled at the modern upgrades the new owners, the Wilson family, have made. We feel that we have kept our charm yet with modern upgrades. Our best wishes. Tim P/Reservations Supervisor on behalf of the Grape Leaf Team

Do not stay in either the Pinot Noir Suite or the Gamay Rose room. Both are right next to the dining room and you can hear everything in the mornings from the chef shopping at 6:30 am to the staff blowing the deck. For the price of my suite, it was not worth the money. I have stayed in other B&Bs in Healdsburg, so I expect some noise due to the age of the house but this was way too much. Also, the Gamay Rose room does not have a bathtub as advertised on their website. According to the front desk, they renovated 3 months ago and just haven't updated the website yet. Lastly, I called in a couple of weeks before my stay to order a bottle of sparkling wine to be in the room, since we were going for my wifes birthday and received an email confirmation that it was "All taken care of." When we arrived there was no bottle of champagne and the front desk said that she must have forgotten to take care of it. Every front desk experience felt like we were inconveniencing/bothering her.

Overall, our experience was very disappointing. The only reason I gave 2 stars was for the chef and her staff for the great food and service they provided every morning.

Hi CLF50. Oh, we are sorry to hear this. Apparently our Innkeepers did overlook the champagne, which we apologize for again. And while the Gamay Rose and Pinot Noir rooms are on the first floor, we have had very few comments such as yours. We are glad that you found the breakfast/our chef so special. Safe future travels.

We stayed at the Grape Leaf Inn over President's Day weekend and really loved it. It is the perfect location for walking to/from town for wine tasting, shopping, dinner; we literally drove our car once the entire four days because we bought too much wine to carry back to our room. Love that we could also bring our dog with us too :)

The inn is very charming, well decorated and clean. Everyone on the staff was also super friendly and accommodating. We were able to get coffees to go every morning to take with us for morning walks with our dog.

Breakfasts were heavenly too, the eggs benedict was our favorite...I'm literally still thinking about it and my husband who isn't a fan of eggs benedict loved it too.

If you are looking at places to stay in Healdsburg and you want to be near town but not "in town" look no further this is your place! We hope to be back sooner rather than later!

Needing a break from our Covid isolation we went to a Healdsburg for a two day stay and returned to the Grape Leaf Inn.
Our room,Syrah, was perfect for me he two of us.
The patio and lovely grounds were perfect to picnic for one of our lunches.
We did wine tasting at several wineries and found DeLorimier Winery a truly wonderful experience.
We are members at a Soda Rock,a Wilson Artisanal winery, who own this property so a discount was included making our stay extra special.
The breakfast, served on the patio was isolation sensitive, was superb.
Will, the in house breakfast chef, served us two great breakfasts, especially his crepe with Brie, egg and chives with a side of greens was spectacular!
Looking forward to our return after this viral disease has been contained,as the town of Healdsburg is indeed now a special treasure.

My girlfriend and I stayed here in August 2022 for our wine tasting trip in the Healdsburg area and we absolutely loved staying here. We stayed in the Champagne suit and was definitely glad we made that choice. It is a standalone room/suite and is not attached to the main building. It has its own entrance which makes it very convenient to come and go.

The breakfast was fantastic everyday and we really enjoyed the cookies and wine they would leave out every evening!

The location was perfect for us, it was located in a very quiet neighborhood but it was only a 5 minute walk to the start of the downtown area. Was perfect to be able to just walk into town every night for dinner/drinks. Most restaurants were less than 10 minutes walking. It was also close to every winery we drove to with most only 10-20 minutes away.

The pool/spa was also a nice amenity to enjoy. Don't forget about the speakeasy as we didn't realize it was there until our last day.

The staff was super friendly and very helpful and we would definitely recommend this place to others and plan to return in the future.

The Grape Leaf is a perfect, cozy home in a perfect location that allows you to walk to everything in Healdsburg but still stay on a quiet side street. Breakfast was delicious every morning (and very filling, which was good fuel for a day of wine tasting), and Cindy and Nicte went above and beyond to hook us up with tours, tastings, reservations, and more. Healdsburg is the perfect Sonoma town to call home for awhile. We spent one day taking in all of Healdsburg, another packed full of wine tastings, and another traveling around Sonoma seeing nearby redwood forests, the Sonoma coast, and other great small towns (we really liked Sebastopol too). It was a perfect trip and the Grape Leaf served as the perfect home base to return to each night. Highly recommend!

Everything went smoothly from the minute we arrived. Will and Candy, who work in the kitchen, were sweet enough to give me a hot cup of coffee before my morning walk and before breakfast; management cannot put coffee out because of COVID restrictions. The location of Grape Leaf is perfect! The area is quiet and you feel very safe walking around anytime of day. We stayed in the Zinfandel room and loved all the light in the room from the 3 skylights and there was a huge tub with jets. We will definitely be back to this BnB.
