My husband and I stayed at the Beach House during our first time ever visiting California. We absolutely loved our stay!!! The hotel location was perfect. There is a walking path right next to the hotel- which made it easy to walk to nearby restaurants and shops. The view from our ocean view room was amazing and so relaxing. This was the most relaxing trip I’ve taken in years. The staff was super friendly and helpful. I cannot wait to visit HMB again and stay at the Beach House! Highly recommended for couples and families.
We just staying here over Thanksgiving break and even though the hotel was fully booked, we never heard other guests at night and they had a fan in the closet which makes me sleep SOOO much better. We had an ocean view room and it was a gorgeous sunset view every night. Rooms were large and well equipped. Breakfast had delicious croissants, cinnamon rolls, danishes, fruit, and oatmeal. Overall, a great experience and we'll definitely be back.
Kids loved the heated pool, staff was great, fireplace was cozy, location was awesome. The smell in our room was not. Can't even explain what it was, but Penthouse View room #315 had this mildewy, cedar, cleaning material stank to it we could not get rid of. We bought candles and left the windows open, but it was there and wasn't going away. We asked for a room change, but the only room available was bottom floor without a view. We tried to laugh it off and we still enjoyed our trip regardless, but it was a big disappointment to smell that each time we entered the room.
We booked an ocean front room with fireplace, and we could not have been happier with our choice of hotel. The room was quite large with a balcony overlooking Half Moon Bay. It had a kitchen area with microwave, stove and fridge, and best of all we had room service! (We were elsewhere in California and the hotel had NO service- still claiming Covid) The room was spotless and modern with a very comfortable king size bed. The staff was exceptional in every way. I wish I had gotten the name of the woman who printed our boarding passes...she was upbeat and helpful. The location is wonderful with a surfing beach next door and Sam's Chowder house (wonderful restaurant within walking distance. We will be back!
There were a number of positives during our stay:The staff and especially the manager Kevin were very friendly and helpful. The continental breakfast had a lot of choices all of which were good. The beddings were quite comfortable. The hotel has an easy access to the pretty stroll by the ocean. It was an easy walk to Sam's Chowder House, one of our favorite restaurants. The only problem we encountered was our room. Although we reserved an "accessible room" on the 3rd floor with a partial ocean view, we didn't notice (until late at night) that there were no grab bars in the bathroom. We were moved to a 1st floor room the next 2 nights, and were told that's the only one available to us because my husband rented a scooter (the size of a wheelchair) he could use to go around. Since it was a smaller room with no view, we were given a discount. We suggest that those with disabilities clarify the type of accommodation they expect. We think the place is on the overall very lovely and will not hesitate to recommend it to friends.…
This hotel offers it all: views, hospitality, recreation and comfort. We enjoyed the jacuzzi each morning with a yummy continental breakfast. The gate to the coastal path provides easy access for a stroll to the shops and restaurants or a ride on your bikes. With them offering a complimentary upgrade to our booking, we were in heaven! We appreciated the hospitality.
Booked the Beach House for a solo getaway. Size of room was awesome - plenty of space for just me, and full kitchen was unexpected (two burners plus fridge/mw, and a bunch of dishes & utensils). No counter space (due to the burners), that was a drawback. Also they provide a keurig but my room had no cream or sugar and when I went to the front desk they gave me a cup of half and half! Don't they have little packets? Furniture was a bit worn but the bed was extremely comfortable and the comforter was fluffy & warm. Nice bathroom but again, not so luxurious as the description would have you believe. Booked a partial ocean view, but what I got was a parking lot view with a peek-a-boo of the bay if you stood at the slider and craned your neck. Tons of road noise too. This was disappointing, as I had been hoping to hear ocean waves. If you book this room type, specify the south side of the inn so you are not right by the restaurant next door. Continental breakfast was nice - good choices of pastries, yogurt & hot cereals. No wine reception on Sundays. While the front desk people were courteous & friendly, I felt I had to ask about every little thing. There was no amenity listing in the room or anywhere, so I had to ask: where is breakfast (it was in a meeting room one morning, the lobby another), where is the wine (it was sunday), is the pool heated, what is check-out time. Just felt a little like they assumed you'd know or wouldn't care, as opposed to other places that bend over backwards to be sure you know what they have to set them apart. It was a bit of a walk up to restaurants, which I didn't mind but just be aware. There's a very nice beach walk the other direction, but you're up on a bluff, not exactly on the sand. Next time, I'd go for the full oceanview.…
My wife and I have mastered the “staycation” these past two years. We have stayed in oceanfront hotels from Santa Barbera to San Francisco and this is by far our favorite. This was our second stay at The Beach House and we can’t wait to return. Located right on Hwy 1 overlooking Princeton Harbor this hotel has incredible views, sits right next door to Sams Chowder House and a two minute walk to the harbor and all of it’s restaurants and shops. The rooms are well appointed and comfortable, but it’s really all about the views. You can watch the break at Maverick’s from the comfort of your deck and listen to the waves lapping as you unwind. We highly recommend and can’t wait to return.
Loved our stay here! We splurged for an ocean front room and didn't regret paying extra. Room was lovely and appreciated the mini-kitchenette. Continental breakfast far exceeded our expectations - many different (bakery quality!!) pastries/bagels etc from which to choose, yogurt, fresh fruit and assorted cereals. They had staff who served the pastries, so no grimy hands on those tongs. We enjoyed picnic lunches on the (public) terrace. Convenient location to hiking trails and, of course, right next door to Sam's Chowder House. All wonderful and we look forward to returning. P.S. The reviewers who complained about the foghorn must have incredible hearing. We could barely hear it when outside, and not at all, when inside.
We really enjoyed our one-night stay. We had a partial ocean view, which was excellent. The crib we requested was already in the room when we checked in, next to a night light. Several food options within walking distance. Continental breakfast options were good, with an outdoor patio overlooking the ocean. Coastal access is great, with a walking path along the shore.
