Super cute older home converted into a bed and breakfast. Easy parking, right on the main drag and next door to Pasta Moon. Warm welcome, cozy but comfy rooms/beds. Very nice, home-made, healthy breakfast included.
Very conveniently situated along Half Moon Bay's Main Street collective shops and cafes, and less than a mile from the Pacific Ocean. What a treat to stay at this Bed & Breakfast! David, the inn's host, is a very gracious and helpful person and an outstanding chef - breakfast was a different culinary treat each day! The rooms are beautifully appointed, private, and very comfortable. We had the best time at Half Moon Beach much due to the fact that we chose to stay here. Since we were fully vaccinated, and according to CDC, we were able to go without our face masks at the hotel. Only vaccinated guests can do so, so we felt safe.
Check in was fine. Nice that they offer wine in the evenings and they don't pick it up at a certain time. Inn was clean. Breakfast was very disappointing. Bowl of fresh fruit was fine. Standard issue scrambled eggs, toast and potatoes. No none ever asked if that was ok or if we needed anything else. No cereal, or baked goods. They advertise Hermes bath products but there were none- should take that out of the description. Gives people a false sense of luxury. If we go back to HMB we will look for another place.
Lovely Inn. Beautiful garden patio in which to have (complimentary) happy hour wine. Delicious breakfast. Helpful and friendly staff. Location within easy walking distance to shops and restaurants. Highly recommend.
We cannot recommend this B&B. Although well located and providing a decent fresh-cooked breakfast, there are too many lapses in the management to commend it to other travelers. This is the third attempt to post a detailed review but TripAdvisor is glitching, so to summarize: no management on site, no housekeeping during the stay except upon request, and how were we to know that, room deficiencies evidencing lack of maintenance, and very poor security with side doors left unlocked apparently at all hours. With so many alternatives in Half Moon Bay, we’ll be staying elsewhere next time.
Made a last minute reservation for 1 night. I understand there was a change of ownership in September 2021. This accommodation has so much character, is really clean and the attention to detail evident in the beautifully furnished bedrooms. Quality towels and toiletries provided. Excellent WiFi. The complimentary wine and banana cake available in reception was delicious and much appreciated. We had a lovely cooked breakfast prior to departure. Would stay again in a heart beat.
We highly recommend this place. Our room was vey clean, quiet and charming! Breakfast was also great. Located on the main strip at Half Moon Bay with everything in walking distance. Keep up the good work David!! Cheers, Brad & Karen in Napa
I treated my sister, for her birthday, to this exquisite B&B, in one of her favorite Northern California little beach towns, Half Moon Bay. This was our first visit to this unique, charming, chic Inn. The house was tastefully decorated with lovely antiques and artwork, interspersed with the crisp, clean, blue & grey decor of a Nantucket, Mass. ocean cottage. The bedrooms were very cozy, spacious and light, with large picture windows that overlooked their lovely gardens. The sheets and towels are creamy soft. The bedrooms are also very quiet, for a peaceful night's sleep. The backyard sitting area was both intimate and welcoming, with a firepit to keep you warm on chilly evenings. David, the owner and host, was sooo gracious and accommodating, that we loved just sitting and chatting with him, and his charming husband, Jerry, over a glass of wine, after a day of sightseeing. David serves a plated, sit down breakfast, of one of his own delicious, culinary delights, every morning. My sister and I had an incredible, relaxing time in this lovely B&B, with the wonderful host and owner, David. I highly recommend this establishment to anyone with discriminating tastes in the finer, unique enjoyments of life.…
My wife and I were able to stay two nights at the Inn and David made the stay amazing. These are difficult times to conduct the business of hosting people and David does everything he can to make everyone safe and comfortable. There are so many requirements for Covid protection; at no time did we feel that we were at risk in the Inn. The room is well appointed including what looks like a brand new shower. I read about the breakfast that David provided prior to the Covid outbreak and David provided breakfast beyond expectations. We will return again as soon as possible.
My partner and I have visited the Nantucket Whale Inn a couple of years ago, and we were so happy to be back again. We got away for both a quiet birthday and to find somewhere from wildfires for three days. Very clean, though due to COVID - 19 precautionary measures, requested amenities should be discussed with David. David is an excellent host and can offer ample information of the area, from restaurants to places to visit. He was especially informative when booking over the phone. We look forward to our next stay.
