We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The manager was the nicest lady and so helpful in tips for what to see and do in the area. Our room was very nicely decorated and comfortable. The new windows kept any road noise out. A friend of mine used to stay here years ago and was so impressed with all of the updating that has been done. I would highly recommend this hotel.

On a day trip with our lab, we decided to spend the night so I googled dog friendly hotels half moon bay. The list in the city was just two choices. I chose Harbor view which was just a few miles from the restaurant we were at. The man who answered the number given on the screen was friendly and said there would be an extra $10 fee for the dog. He took my card and info. On arrival, the lady at the hotel desk confirmed my info and reservation and the amount. She said there was construction so we got keys and went to an upstairs room. The room was recently remodeled but they didn't do anything with the windows that let in road noise all night. The gentlemen in the adjacent room spoke normally but we could clearly hear them through the wall by our bed. The next morning the new lady at the front desk saw my dog and said that is he doing here? I explained that the man who took our reservation said it was specifically dog friendly. She said they changed their policy several months ago. As we were about to leave, I went back to the office to advise them to notify the company making their reservations to not sell dog friendly rooms so this doesn't happen again. The manager came out and said they had no control about what got booked and they just had to live with it. If a "snuck in" a dog, there would be a $175 fee. I said their booking company was quite aware that we had a dog. After we left, they tagged on another $40 fee which I have disputed on my card.

We live and work on the road and have stayed in many hotels over the last year. Usually I shy away from 2-star rated hotels but we are on a budget of under $150/night for a king-room or a large double that is clean and spacious. We enjoyed our one-night stay at Harbor View Inn for several reasons: We were greeted warmly and enthusiastically when we arrived, like we were valued guests. When my husband asked for a room change to be away from noise outside, we ended up with a large double double, newly renovated with-get this!- bathrobes, house slippers, real coffee mugs (a big deal with me!), a small fireplace and a chaise lounge to relax. The room was spacious, clean and quiet, even though it looked out over a large street. It had a lovely view of the bay in the distance. Thoughtfully, the hotel provided ear plugs among the several amenities. Breakfast was basic but the coffee was good. There is a small but decent coffee shop next door to the hotel. Down the road is Sam's Chowder House- a short drive or walk, ideal for a bayside lunch or dinner- clam chowder, blue crab sandwich, tuna poke, cioppino, and warm sourdough bread. Harbor View Inn was completing some renovations during our September 2021 overnight stay. Make sure to request a quiet room way from the workers. That said, the renovation upgrades this small hotel with lovely pale sea blue colors and quality linens, fabrics and good lighting. I recommend for a stopover in Half Moon Bay. A great motel near the harbor. A great location. Currently undergoing a full renovation. We stayed in a renovated room and it was amazing. Wood rooms. Comfortable bed and bedding. Nice bathroom. Will definitely stay here again. We were with friends staying at the RV park and we were able to walk to the RV park and the beach. Plenty of restaurants across the highway. We parked our car didn’t use it until we left.

Currently under construction on the upper level. We were advised not to park close to building due to dust. Covid protocols in place. Disappointed that the in floor heat was no longer working. Tile floors very cold, even in shoes, due to my personal neuropathy issues. But remodel is being done as I type. The location is good. Lovely view of the water on the other side of Hwy 1. Hwy noise is audible but not loud. Continental breakfast delivered in individual sacks at a time you request. Juice, yogurt, danish or muffin, and an apple. Mini coffee maker, microwave and little refrigerator provided. Good value. We are here 2 nights then headed south. Definitely stay again. Registration staff so nice, very friendly! First travels since our first Covid shutdown a year ago...

We were tired of the big corporation Covid-19 nonsense, so we stayed 1 night here. Reasonable rates. Front desk lady super sweet and helpful. Rooms clean. Close to the harbor and restaurants. Nice and neat. Comfy bed.

We booked a remodeled Queen room for one night. When we arrived the bed was dirty, the chair in the room was filthy and the heater didn’t work and it was a Full not a Queen. We complained and they said they could change our room but it would $20 more. After some arguments they moved us to non-remodeled room. This room was also dirty. There weren’t any washcloths and there was a high pitched noise that we couldn’t find the source of. Around 4 am the pipes began gurgling. The bed was hard as a rock and lumpy. We complained but they didn’t care.

My aging father and I decided to meet up to see each other in our old stomping ground at the harbor jetty and it's beaches.... where he raised me. The Harbor View Inn is right down the street from our previous neighborhood and has a perfect view looking out on the harbors jetty rocks we used to fish on. The room was very clean, big and had 2 quite comfy beds indeed! Plus, the view is great! Another good thing was the nice gentleman in the office that made us feel right at home. The price was excellent for the value, and the free breakfast offered breakfast sandwiches which were very big and yummy! And yogurt..etc. This place is a hidden gem and should have more stars..this is why I want people to know how much value they will get for their money, as well as a very kind-nature customer service team. The man that checked us in and out was the nicest I have ever met at a motel. People like this should never be over-looked when comparing prices and places, as people like him make others feel right at home too. Princeton-by-the Sea is right out the window across the highway, but back enough off the hwy, and El Granada (were motel is on mountain side of hwy), has a grocery store next door and a coffee house with food...El Granada is an awesome, small and peaceful community which reflects upon this motel. Stay here. You will be glad you did! Maverick's is right across the street..the best place in the World to me and my Dad...this area has not changed much since the 1970's thank God.
