We booked this hotel on a whim as we had a few extra nights in San Fran before heading to Big Sur and ... WOW! What a beautiful surprise! The location of this hotel is what makes it so special. Situated on a cliff, overlooking the Pacific Ocean - you are surrounded by beauty everywhere you look! The Coastal Walking Trail that wraps around the hotel is awesome. There are lots of look outs and beach access points. We spent our 3 days just walking the trail and taking in the ocean! We will be staying here from now on anytime we need to be close to San Fran! One note, if you are interested in the spa or golf - make sure you book ahead!

This is our second time staying at this absolutely beautiful property. On the plus side, the location is superb, the staff is friendly and helpful, and the rooms and amenities are excellent. But that resort fee? It's out of control at $50 (plus tax) per night. Inclusions: two complimentary glasses of wine upon arrival, complimentary putters and short irons for golf (we don't golf), bike rentals (it's raining), tennis court rentals (we don't play tennis), access to the coastal trail fire pits (it's raining), coastal walks (seriously, who charges for walks?), and recreational activities while on property (whatever that actually means). For us this means that we received two "free" glasses of wine for $25 each. As Marriott Bonvoy Titanium members we also received 1,000 bonus points upon arrival, which is standard at Ritz-Carlton properties, and an upgrade from a coastal view room to a larger coastal view room (essentially a junior suite) which was very nice but our view was mainly one of the golf course with the coastline just barely peeking through. All for the low, low price of just 120,000 Bonvoy points for our one-night stay. The club lounge, which we could normally upgrade to for an additional fee, appears to be closed (I'm assuming because of staffing issues, as the place is fairly full and other Ritz-Carlton club lounges are currently operating). Last night we visited a local place called Sam's Chowder House for dinner and that was great and we'll be heading out shortly to continue our California road trip. Would we stay here again and do we recommend it? Absolutely, and we will pay the ridiculous resort fee without questioning it further, but I want everyone to be aware - you don't get a lot for it and if you don't drink wine, golf, or play tennis and if the weather is inclement you pretty much get a whole lot of nothing.

I recently stayed at the Ritz Carlton and it’s my first time staying at a Ritz. I was super excited since I typically stay at the Four Seasons and I really wanted to compare the two. I also traveled with my dog and the hotel was accommodating for my fur baby. The reason why I gave them 3 ⭐️⭐️⭐️ is primarily due to my room. I believe I received the worse room in the hotel. I didn’t have that great of a view and the room had 1 full and 3/4 window. My husband walked around the property to see if there were any other windows Like it and there aren’t. He made a point that he knew which room was ours. I was very disappointed being a Titanium member of Bonvoy to receive the worst room. At first I was thinking maybe it’s because I had my dog but I saw several others with their dog on the same floor so that couldn’t be it. I hate to say this but it appears I was somehow classified a certain way and was elected to get that room because perhaps I wouldn’t know the difference. I would really hope that not the case but stay away from room 561. It’s a nice room but you will have a subpar view. I actually paid for a full coastal view but now I know better for next time. Also with being Titanium you are eligible for 4pm check out. They didn’t want to grant that to me at first some of these folks are programmed like robots to say 11am or 12 since it’s consider the universal check out time. I find that many hotel staff are not aware of the different member benefits so I had to insist on getting a later time and I was granted only 2pm at first and I had to go to the front desk to get 4pm the next day before my spa appointment. Of course they tried to tell me it’s based on hotel availability but that hotel was not sold out and I doubt they are rushing to give that room away anyway. I love the food the Conservatory Restaurant has really fresh and great food. The seafood cioppino was delicious and I love the New England clam chowder. They do provide a dog bed and bowls. The bed was a bit small for my dog but the gesture it’s great. I received impeccable service from our waiter for dinner. The grounds are beautiful so I will be back but will be more mindful of the room situation. I’ve made Ambassador now let’s see what I get next time.

I'm told there's a latin word, beatificus, that loosely means, "to make happy". This place embodies that. The property itself is gorgeous, and its location by the ocean is unrivaled. You can't help but be awed. But the stay would be lacking without the amazing people who work there, from Eric, the valet, to the guest services agent, who at 2am, arranged for children's tylenol to be delivered to us (Front Desk reported that the person who assisted us is Belen. Thank you, Belen!). We made good use of the indoor heated pool (there are many windows that can be opened if you're concerned about ventilation during the pandemic) and loved falling asleep to the sound of the waves breaking outside. The beds are heavenly. Every single interaction and every single detail made us happy. We thank all the hardworking hospitality workers who brought some magic into our lives and look forward to returning.

From the moment you wind up the drive to the Ritz Carlton Half Moon Bay, you can tell it’s a special place. Nestled between the gorgeous cliffs pristine links, golf courses, and breathtaking views. We drove up and the valets are prompt and courteous. Checking in, we were met with exceptionally friendly service by Devanshi. She upgraded us to a room with a gorgeous view of the 18th hole and our own fire pit. Each and everyone, from front desk (Chloe was also great!) to waitstaff to housekeeping went above and beyond to make us feel special and this birthday, one to remember. Sipping scotch toddies while the bagpiper marches over the hill, right before sunset, was truly moving. Something tells me, the Ritz Carlton here will always live up to their name. Sincerely, thank you.
