Want to second Amy’s review earlier this month. Great location and golf course but the service is far away from my expectation specially how they treat elite members. I am a lifetime titanium elite. I was at this hotel from 8/8-11 for a group offsite. Was put into the guest house while other colleagues were in the main building. Hotel refused to move me to the main building saying most of my colleagues are in the guest house (not true). They gave a property map but did not tell me which building I was in(yes I can read in fine print but other hosts will mark it for you! When I asked, got very impatient answer telling me to look by myself at 10:00 pm. One of night, people had party downstairs after midnight and it took me multiple calls (many were not able to reach anyone at front desk) to stop the party. I have asked for late check out, and was told to talk to them on the check out day. On that day, I was told my name is not in the late check out list — no one put it in the list of course! The folio had no my reward number and when I asked them to put it on, they became very impatient by saying you will not get points (anyway on group bookings, I paid for it). No one ever asked me if I want to have extra points or vouchers. No one offers waters. Asked a hotel person where is our meeting room and was being rudely told He doesn’t know, go ask front desk…….breakfast fruits had very low quality. Service level way below regular Marriott. Will not choose this hotel or recommend it to anyone. One start for service. unhappy customer typed the review on her mobile phone on the way to the airport. Please forgive my typos.

Pros- Location, beaches, trails Cons- Service, Hospitality I was so excited to spend my 35th birthday with my partner & 23 month old Guest Relations was super helpful prior to my arrival with all my questions I had asked if I could email the front desk a form, I was told no I couldn’t email an Explore Form As we walked through the double doors of the hotel one of the young men yawned in my face I asked for an upgrade at check in and the associates was whispering and one pointed to the screen. I’m assuming the rate. I was told it’s not available. I wasn’t asking or a $5,000 room maybe a room with a fire place or better view. I called & asked before if we can if I could bring my own bike attachment & was told it shouldn’t be a problem. The Colony wasn’t aware of the bike attachment & made sure they voiced liability & signed waiver for Toddler. I’m glad they made an exception my son has so much fun riding the coastal trail & going to the beaches. Not sure if it was a lead but she was extremely rude to the young man I myself would NEVER let anyone speak to me or use the tone that she did with him I asked for a late check out , depending on when my son naps & was told to call in the am Monday am I called the front desk asking when does everything open I was starving Shelby was helpful I also asked her to call for my car so I can go get coffee & food As I came back I was asked if I was delivery food (Because I didn’t look like a “Guest”)

My family and I stayed for 2 nights in Half Moon Bay at the end of July 2022. Firstly, the exemplary: all staff were brilliant but particular thanks must go to the staff at the indoor pool/Colony Club who assisted us throughout our stay. Secondly, the location is fabulous despite experiencing pretty much every weather condition, other than snow, in our 48 hours there. Finally, and the obvious gripe, after room rates, food, valet parking and resort fee, this place is hugely expensive. We visited the RC after two excellent Autograph Collection stays and there was little to justify the price increase. There are ways to drive exclusivity other than price - all the Californian RCs are guilty of this and need to up their game. There are other options out there.

I recently brought my mom to this lovely hotel to celebrate a milestone birthday for her and it was amazing. The staff were so excited about my mom's birthday and treated us with extra special attention. They upgraded our room so that we would be on the first floor for easier access for her and the room included at little patio with a fire pit in it. It was lovely to sit there in the evenings with the warm fire, and talk about all our great memories. The bagpipes at sunset were wonderful touch and we really enjoyed it. We ate breakfast at the restaurant on the property. While it was pretty pricey, the gracious service, delicious food, and great view made it worth it for a special weekend away. As usual, the weather really stank (cold and cloudy) the whole time, but I can't fault the resort for that. You just need to know that this is the most common weather in Half Moon Bay and be ready to accept it.

It was a really problematic stay - more so than any hotel I have experienced in 5 years. There are too many issues to recall/ Some examples of time wasted: 1) being texted that we had a room upgrade after we had unpacked in the room, only to find out later, after going through the repack motions, that this was an error, 2) unpacking the car, only to be told that we weren't staying in the actual hotel, even though I paid 1600. The car assistant knew that was the case, was standing beside me during the unpack, but didn't mention it until after, so we repacked the car. Some examples of room issues: 1) we had a nicer room with an outdoor fireplace. It didn't work 2) rooms are very noisy and I couldn't sleep with kids running around above 3) no minibar 4) no ecology considerations or language in the rooms 5) no non-toxic products in the bathroom Some examples of the check in issues: 1) room wasn't ready 2) some guests were offered a check in beverage and others weren't 3) hotel is mainly used as a event grounds during wedding season so it felt like I was an uninvited guest of someone else's party 4) no clear map on how to get to outbuildings since we weren't placed at the hotel. Overall - way too expensive for what was delivered. This should have cost 600 and not 1600.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for our anniversary, and I would NOT recommend this place at all. We chose to celebrate a special time with Ritz-Carlton at Half Moon Bay, but our subpar, disappointing stay at the hotel only brings anger & disappointment when I think of the weekend. For ~$1000 per night, I did not expect these many things to go wrong. SLOW SERVICE Service is extremely slow. For example, we waited almost an hour for our luggage to be bought up to our room, and similar issues occurred when we requested toothpaste. Despite calling the front desk, nothing changed. Due to such delay of service, we had to push back plans, such as dinner & going out. Hence, the service actually became a HUGE inconvenience. POORLY PREPARED FOOD While dinner at Novio was good, it does not excuse the quality of food in In addition, our dining experience at the conservatory is highly subpar, because the food is poorly prepared, poorly seasoned, and overpriced. For example, I recall ordering a $98 steak and was super-excited to eat it. However, the steak came out as a disappointment (see attached picture). When I conveyed the issue to the manager, the manager questioned my judgment and implied I had never had a good steak before, which further made it an extremely unpleasant experience. FAR FROM BEACH While the hotel is right next to the beach, it is a 15-20 minutes walk to access the beach from the cliff/where the hotel is at. In addition, it is actually cloudy, foggy, & cold except for ~3 hours in the afternoon. While the weather is not the hotel's fault, most of the advertisement/website showcases sunny beaches & colorful sunset, which does NOT accurately describe the environment at the hotel. SUBPAR ROOM QUALITY The bathtub in our room is probably the smallest bathtub I have ever stayed in. The room does NOT have a mini frig with drinks & snacks, but an old small, empty frig that literately reminded me of our college dorm room.

My first time visiting Half Moon bay and what a spectacular property. It’s a scene out of the Scottish countryside (espicially when the bagpiper comes out in the evening.) we stayed for 3 nights with our two children and enjoyed the scenery and weather. Not to mention the top quality service, here’s my feedback. Room was spacious, high level of cleanliness. Our first night we ate at the conservatory and our server Krystal was super friendly and helpful. Reid was super informative, and accommodating to my vegetarian preferences. We had our breakfast in the same restaurant and it was delicious. We had our lunch by the ocean restaurant near the fire pit which was very relaxing after the long bike tour we took along the coastal. Highly recommend this if you have children with you. We spent dinner at the fine dining Navio restaurant and our server Jeffrey was beyond hospitable. They have a delicious 6 course vegetarian tasting menu designed by the executive chefs. Big thank you to them! The only downfall in the whole experience is the somelier named Michael in the Navio restaurant who was very arrogant and rude (he wouldn’t have lasted 2 minutes in a Zuma or Nobu.) nevertheless despite his behaviour the restaurant staff were beyond gracious and apologetic. Overall I highly recommend this hotel. A few shoutouts: Jamie (manager of the conservatory, Jeffrey, Brian (manager of Navio), Marco (knowledgeable and polite sommelier at Navio)- thank you for this incredible experience

First, let me say that it hurts my heart to write this review. I'm a former hospitality professional and I am literally still at the property. The experience is just horrid. The individual ladies and gentlemen of the Ritz team, overwhelmingly, are trying hard. But the hotel as a whole is failing. The small details that make a property a 'five star' property are missing, and beyond that the basics are a fail. What do I mean? It took hours to get our bags delivered to our room. The room is for four adults and everything (towels, coffee cups, etc...) appears to be for two adults, so I had to order a ton of extra towels. We had a kid with a cold and put her to sleep on the couch, but the extra duvet and sheet that we requested to make her rest comfortable never came - I wound up wrapping her in the sleeping bag she brought back from sleep-away camp. Yes, we got an upgrade to a nice room. But, as I said, the basics in that room were a fail. The main thing that is making me write this review is that I spent the evening last night in a Comfort Suites in the middle of nowhere in Northern California and everything about that experience was better than this Ritz-Carlton. I understand that staffing is a challenge in 2022, but at $1000+/night per room, the property should have the budget to hire enough people to handle a fully-booked hotel. I cannot recommend this place, and as I said to begin with -- that breaks my heart. The people are trying, but something is simply not working here, and they shouldn't be flying the Ritz flag or charging Ritz prices until they get it back up-to-speed. Stay somewhere else until they figure out how to make this place work like it should.
