For the price and reputation, it just didn't feel special. It felt like we were checking into a property at an amusement park. The staff checked guests in as fast as they could process them, without any real interest in talking to their guests. Unless you play golf, I'm not sure why you'd stay more than a day. The grounds are beautiful, but the dining and recreational options are limited. The view is lovely and the fire pits are very nice, but after six hours, you get tired of doing that.

Dear GoCanes87, We appreciate you taking the time to send us your feedback. It is a pleasure to hear that you enjoyed the beautiful sights that surround us and the warmth of the fire pits at our Bay Area home. Apart from our expansive ocean view golf course, we have activities from surfing, hiking, and horseback riding along with more than 70 wineries offering wine tasting right in our backyard which we hope you will take advantage of on your next visit to Half Moon Bay. Till then, take care and we hope to see you again soon. Warm regards, The Ladies and Gentlemen of The Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay

I was so disappointed. The hotel looks impressive but for $1100 a night the room was lack luster, very plain and no luxury insight. The food at the Conservatory restaurant was not very good. I ordered the lamb which was very fatty and small portion size. I ordered a chocolate desert with coffee flavoring which I think a hostess cupcake would have been outstanding compared to this desert Our waiter was not attentive but a table across from us was getting excellent service. The front desk had what I thought to be a tacky feature....they offered a glass of wine which they poured at the front desk by the desk clerk. Is he a bartender too??? What else can I say......for a bill of $5300 for three nights definitely would never go back.

Gorgeous property in a beautiful location if you are looking to splurge on a luxurious Bay Area coastal getaway. Rooms are wonderful, great service, and complimentary glass of wine at check in at the front desk is a great touch. Extremely clean and covid-conscious: - face masks required in common areas inside (although there was one person not complying during my stay) - elevators limited to 2 people or 1 family at a time (this does create delays waiting for the elevator but better than having it be packed) - hand sanitizer machines everywhere - disposable printed in-room dining menu provided at check in - you need to valet your car but valets are masked and wear gloves. would have been nice if valets opened car windows when they drove your car to park. Below are recommendations for room choice, dining, and activities: - recommend rooms on the ground floor with private porches and fire pits (great for s'mores although note that the Ritz charges $45 for their s'more kit...) - Ocean Terrace outdoor area is very relaxing and beautiful- recommend reservation and better for drinks/snacks rather than a meal. However food is overpriced and mediocre and service is very spotty. - on-site spa services are wonderful but pricey. the staff are constantly cleaning the spa facilities. - Mullins Bar and Grill is the golf course pub that is a 3 minute walk and is great for quick, casual dining including breakfast sandwiches and burritos to go. Sam's is another great choice but is a 10 minute drive. - walks on coastal trail from the Ritz are amazing - going south from the Ritz is a short path, going north the trail is several miles and wonderful. coastal trail in both directions have beach access. although I preferred to walk the trails you can rent bikes from the Ritz. - go tidepooling at the Fitzgerald Marine Reserve but look up when low tide will be before going and note that the limited parking there fills up quickly

We had fire pit room with partial ocean view and a lot of things could have been a lot better. First of all we specifically requested a king bed and at arrival we were informed that no king bedrooms were available so we were put in two queens bedroom. This was our first night away after COVID. Why would you take our request and then not fulfill it? Second, our room had a communicating door with the room next door and we could hear everything going on. Third, their in-room dining ends at 10 pm so we didn’t have diner that night. Finally, our room (272) had a birds nest. Very cute but there is a pile of poop right in front of the bedroom. This room is clearly not at the same level of quality/experience as others so I would recommend asking for a discount if you do have it or make sure to get another one. They ended up crediting us part of our breakfast but does not make up for what I expected our night to be at this price point.

The property is lovely. I highly recommend coming for lunch and eating at the outdoor cafe. But don’t stay here unless your company is paying for it. I really can’t believe they charge $1000+ a night. I booked a $1600/night fire pit room that was supposed to have coastal views. Unfortunately, my small patio area is literally in the middle of the outdoor restaurant. No privacy — I need to fully close the blinds or else diners will be able to see into my room. If you are going to stay here and want a fire pit room, you should insist on being on the opposite side of the restaurant or else you will feel like you are staying in a motel. The service people were quite nice and attentive — and I feel bad for them because I got the sense that they have to deal with complaints regularly from the customers who are placed in these rooms. Ritz — You need to relabel these rooms on your website and price them accordingly. This is not a good experience at all.
