The R3 is an excellent place to stay for a gay weekend in Guerneville. The pool is always lively with mudslides flowing quite early. The music surrounding the pool area keeps the energy at the resort electric. Their nightly events can be a fun activity to stay on property especially karaoke. The rooms are pretty standard with minimal amenities.
Had a wonderful weekend after labor day with my partner at the R3. All the employees friendly and accommodating, the food at their restaurant is excellent and the fun environment a wonderful place to party. Room itself not bad, a bit rustic... God times made up for it.
So...we got puppies in Feb. In June, my child was going to be away for the weekend up north and me and my husband decided to experiment with taking our dogs to a dog friendly place. R3 is where we landed! This place is great. A gay resort so no kids allowed. But Dogs? No problem! They knew we were a straight couple and put us back in the corner away from all the action. Which was so considerate of them. But it was soo great! The Staff was friendly, the little area where you can walk you dogs on the property if you don't want to leave was great, there were dogs EVERYWHERE. At the bar and at the pool and the place was HOPPING. They let you run a tab all day at the bar if you are staying there, and pool side, they open up a BBQ later on in the day. There was music, it was really really fun. We drank poolside all day with our puppies in lounge chairs and went to Betty Spaghetti, the restaurant on property for dinner. We loved it! We will go back another time when we are kid free.…
We only stayed here one night and wished we could have stayed longer. The staff at the front desk was quick and friendly. As others have said, the rooms are a little old and dated. We got a queen bed room that was towards the back. The bed was comfortable and we slept well. Being that this was a Friday night we were a little worried about the noise but it was not a bother at all. We had a couple of drinks in the bar and enjoyed our stay. Looking forward to coming back again so we can stay longer.
While Guerneville has always had the feel of a laidback, relaxing rustic stay; the R3 has placed the exclamation point on it! The rooms could use some loving care and another renovation but the pool, bars, restaurant and staff is amazing! Enjoy it!
You go for the bar and the pool. Staff was friendly and accommodating. I'll definitely return. The mattress in #12 needs to be replaced. Saggy, springy, and uncomfortable. Room was okay size with enough outlets for our devices. Great water pressure. Thanks R3 and see ya next time!
We stayed two nights in a room toward the back that was adequate for our needs. The good: cheaper than other Russian River accommodations, very clean, easy check-in, great location in the heart of downtown Guerneville. The bad: rooms aren't very private, no a/c so it got pretty hot at night. As others have mentioned, the bar and pool can get pretty noisy, but it died down by midnight. It wasn't a problem for me, but could be if you're an early bird.
I must admit we didn't stay at the R3, but we stopped in for a drag show on Sunday night. It was FANTASTIC, and everyone in town seemed to be there. Lots of fun. But we were very glad we hadn't booked one of the poolside bungalows as the show's stage was right among them, and it would've been loud had we not been in the mood to party.
Have spent overnights at this hotel 3 times. Enjoyed it everytime. Comfortable rooms. Activity on the patios and around pool. Nice bar and good restaurant. Easy walk to bars and restaurants downtown. Will stay again.
This place maintains its success, somewhat despite itself. You feel at times that you are staying at your cluttered grandma's place, with various sundries strewn throughout the yard. Yet it still manages to give you what you are looking for, a very nice, laid back time. This is not the "stand and model" crowd, but rather regular folk who are gregarious and friendly. From the staff to the guys staying in the room next door, there is a level of warmth that you will not find elsewhere in Sonoma county.
