We had an amazing stay at Fern Grove. The owners went above and beyond to accommodate us and give super helpful tips about everything from kayak rentals to the best way out of town. The pool area and outdoor dining areas were beautiful. We loved having a kitchenette in the cottage as well. Couldn't recommend more, and we hope to be back soon!
Fern Grove cottages are lovely! Jenny, the owner is super helpful and very hospitable! Her recommendations for where to eat and what to visit were “spot on”She makes the best scones I have had outside of England. The cottages were super clean and the flowers on property are gorgeous! We were 2 couples traveling together. If we are ever back in the region we will stay at Fern Grove cottages!!
And just like that.... four years have passed since our last visit, but the memories never faded. My friends and I had another perfect stay at Fern Grove Cottages. Jenny and Sherman are delightful hosts. Jenny's homemade scones, granola and coffee are the tastiest way to start your day. There is so much to explore in the area. If you have the time stay a week or two, you won't run out of things to do or places to eat and drink. Just enjoy!! My gal pals and I are already looking forward to going back. Cheers!
I've stayed at Fern Grove Cottages several times during the past few years and had started to take it for granted. My recent stay with friends made me more sensitive to what a special place it is. Each room is unique but all (that I've stayed in) are cozy, well appointed and well equipped. Even the studio cottages have a small refrigerator and microwave. Rooms either have a fireplace or stove type heater as well as baseboard heating. On a cold night, the rooms can quickly be heated. The grounds are lovely all year round but are especially so with the flowers in bloom. The setting is welcoming and relaxing. The proprietors are engaging and helpful. They provide information about the many wineries and other attractions in the area. This is a great place to stay.
My wife and I stayed here for 5 nights and had a wonderful time. Jennifer was the perfect hostess. Fresh pastries each morning with coffee and rooms with fire places. We loved it and will be back soon.
Stayed here in a studio cabin, #22, for a quick getaway with the boyfriend. The lovely lady at the front desk couldn't have been more helpful and kind. The room was super clean and cozy. While small, everything needed was there. Nice little kitchenette with sink, fridge, coffee maker and microwave. Nice little front porch with chairs, perfect for sitting in the afternoon sun with a book. Very nice continental breakfast with delicious scones and yogurt parfait. The reasons I have this a 4, rather than a 5, is two fold. One, the mattress is probably ready for replacement, and two (this is a pet peeve of mine), t he toiletries are from China. If you want to be eco-friendly, Chinese products are counter productive to achieving that goal. Please buy American!
What a wonderful place to stay! My boyfriend and I love cabins, woodsy areas, and nostalgia. So the Fern Grove Cottages were perfect for us! The cabins are charming and well maintained in the spirit of the 1920s (with a few modern upgrades of course). The grounds are beautiful! Even in November when things are starting to go dormant for the winter. It is centrally located, which made venturing out very convenient. But more than anything, what makes this place special is the host - Jenny. Jenny is one of the nicest and most hospitable people you will ever meet. Her knowledge of Sonoma County is truly remarkable. She happily gives many great recommendations. You could tell that she really enjoys running the cottages and meeting people. When she found out that we were up there for my birthday, she left a nice gift in our room! The only thing we would have changed is we would have rented a free standing cabin that doesn’t share a wall with another cabin as we could hear our neighbors next door. Nevertheless, we highly recommend staying here!…
First off, I have stayed at the Fern Grove Cottages before and had a wonderful visit. So, I booked another stay last year the end of October with one night's deposit required but had to cancel the reservation due to the fires in Sonoma County and the evacuation of Guerneville during the weekend of my stay: all businesses were closed and the town was evacuated due to the proximity of the fire. I rebooked for this year for the end of July but cancelled due to Covid-19 and the cancellation of Lazy Bear week. Unfortunately, I was charged a $25 cancellation fee when I received my credit for my deposit back to my credit card. While I understand that small businesses are hurting with Covid-19, I also think this was totally uncalled for and a full refund should have been given with a gesture to come back when it was safe to do so.…
We decided to make a road trip since our European vacation was canceled and went to Guerneville on our way back from the wine country as it as a convenient stop off Westside road with all the wineries. To be safe, we wanted a place that had no indoor lobby, etc. that you had to walk through to get to your room and the cottages seem like a good pick. We got a one bedroom cottage that had a bedroom, living room with a gas fireplace, and small kitchen area. It’s suited our needs perfectly during these times and the bed was comfortable. As many have mentioned, the gardens and outdoor seating areas were beautiful, we even ate one of our dinners there. Although we didn’t barbecue, there was both a charcoal and propane barbecue to use. They had several lovely bikes but again we didn’t use them preferring to sit at the fire pit outside and admire the many hummingbirds. Jenny made a fresh fruit yogurt parfait and scones and served them outside each morning. She is very personable and eager to help with suggestions for the area. This is a lovely place to stop if you find yourself near Guerneville. While the town itself is not a real destination spot, there are some nice areas around to visit.…
We really enjoyed the cottages right across from Safeway w/ a super comfy tempurpedic mattress, microwave and frig along with 2 outdoor grills there are a lot of options for just chilling in the town or borrowing one of the cruiser bikes for a spin. The pool was a nice feature, wish it were open a couple hours earlier though. The gardens are lush & lovely and there is a large outdoor dining / gardenarea w/ a propane fireplace and many tables for evenings outdoors.Cottages are clean and comfy, and the folks working there are really helpful with just about any thing you could want. They are very careful and employ safe and sanitary Covid measures especially when serving the breakfasts , fresh baked scones, yogurt w/ fruit and grains and good coffee. We did not feel it was noisy even though it's right off the main road thru town.…
