We stayed at The Stavrand on our roadtrip along the coast to San Diego. Both my husband and I were impressed with the care and attention to detail that was clearly invested in the remodel of this hotel to make it a wonderful, luxurious stay. The setting in the woods was romantic, quiet, and charming. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and we loved the fireplace. We will definitely be coming back here in the summer to join the pool and more of the amenities! Highly recommend a relaxing trip away from the city in this beautiful oasis!
I just got back from a solo overnight stay at the Stavrand and had to write this review immediately. From the moment I stepped out of my car, I knew I had arrived somewhere special. I had stayed at the property before it was bought and renovated by the new owners and they have literally made it a piece of heaven on earth. Everything was the style I like, sort of farmhouse Mediterranean. I stayed in one of the gorgeous Cazadero rooms with a cedar tub which was absolutely amazing. Every little detail is thought of from the amazingly plush robes to the most comfortable bed and pillows I have ever slept on. I felt like I was drifting off on a cloud. The aperitif hour was so much fun and I ended up chatting with other guests along with Emily, one of the owners, and GM who couldn't have been nicer. I am now the biggest fan of St. Germain and champagne. It was so lovely relaxing at the gorgeous pool with the forrest all around me. I went up the hill to a gorgeous lookout and just sat and watched the birds. The next morning I had one of the best breakfasts ever (the patatas and lavender bacon were phenomenal). I am already daydreaming about my next visit to this gorgeous property.…
From the friendly staff to the quiet clearing surrounded by redwoods to the gorgeously appointed rooms and public spaces, this was the perfect place to relax. Everyone at The Stavrand seemed so relaxed and happy--the people on the corporate retreat that overlapped with us seemed like they were best friends and more than one staff member confided that it was a great place to work and that they all felt like family. My friend and I got great advice on where to eat and what sights to see. Whatever you do: don't miss the breakfast. Wow.
We just enjoyed a lovely stay at this beautiful property just outside of Guerneville. Very nice room with a private deck where we enjoyed a delicious breakfast, which was included in our room rate. The hotel has recently been refurbished and they did a wonderful job. All of the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. We also had a terrific meal at the on site restaurant which is just for hotel guests. Highly recommended and we hope to be back for a return visit very soon!
Beautifully appointed and the staff are super friendly and helpful. Breakfast is worth the stay! The “bowl” had super fresh eggs, apple bacon and crispy potatoes. Yum. Room was great, super comfortable with a fireplace. Couldn’t get the tv to work and that was just fine! Better without it.
My husband, our 8 month old baby and I stayed 2 nights at the Stavrand. The property is a hidden gem tucked in the redwoods. Fully renovated, gorgeously decorated, clean, amazing expansive grounds, and a quick walk to town. There were special touches everywhere throughout this property. We loved the afternoon apertif, the s'mores and fire pits, and the daily breakfast. Our stay was beyond memorable and we will definitely be back. The people who work here are SO dedicated and take such pride in providing an unforgettable experience to their guests. Everyone was so genuine and warm and thoughtful. Our son, Remy LOVED Erica at the reception, and before long she was crawling around with him on the floor of the Belden House. Remy lost his monkey stuffed animal on our walk through the property to town. Without asking (we never knew it was missing), the monkey was returned to us at breakfast the next morning (thank you, Austin!) That is 5-star service!!…
We stayed for two nights in May. The room was beautiful, with a great bath, and much appreciated bath bomb. There are little touches like this throughout the hotel, which makes it a charmed kind of place, in addition to being entirely comfortable, from the cozy bedding to the big double jetted shower. We had dinner at the hotel one night. The dining room is very attractive and the dinner itself was inventive and expertly prepared with (optional) very good wine pairings. Everyone we interacted with on staff was warm and very very helpful. There are opportunities to gather with other guests for afternoon wine in a pretty courtyard if that’s your thing. All in all, a great place to base yourself for a Russian River trip.
We spent just a quick overnight at The Stavrand, and it was just lovely. The hotel is recently fully renovated and reopened. We stayed in an Armstrong room, and it is a great choice. Very comfortable bed, wonderful linens and towels, spacious room. The service here is just terrific, and every single person we encountered, from the front desk to the general manager, was focused on making sure our stay was perfect. Our visit was on a Tuesday night, which brings one caution.... it seems the entire Russian River Valley goes to sleep on Tuesday and Wednesday, so there are very limited options for restaurants and shopping. If you're visiting midweek, just keep that in mind. We will most definitely be back to this peaceful corner of the Sonoma Valley.
You know you’ve stumbled on a gem when you’re already scheming a return visit before you’ve completed the first. The Stavrand is like staying at the country house of your favorite cool, older cousin: beautiful, authentic, and charming, with plenty of swank but not obnoxiously hip. Staff was warm and welcoming, with a special shout out to Chantal, Andre, and assorted others who took great care — always appreciated when traveling solo. Dinner (for guests only) was a delicious prix fixe splurge with local wine pairings (and seriously, I’d eat more vegetables if I could char them to perfection like the chef. Also the olive oil cake. And chef’s surprise dishes. Yes. More veggies, cake, surprises, and pool time in 2022, please). Hats off to the owner and team for their creative vision, renovating and opening a luxury boutique hotel during challenging times. May the mighty Sonoma redwoods bless The Stavrand and all those who wish to be known as its long lost relatives. …
We stayed at The Stavrand Russian River Valley during a trip out to wine country. We loved every minute of our stay. The staff were wonderful, gave great recommendations for the area and were very hospitable during our stay making it that much better. We loved the daily aperitif hour hosted by the staff and the nightly s’mores by the fire. The daily breakfast was also very delicious. We can’t wait to return for our next trip.
