Reasonably priced, an unexpected view of the ocean, pet friendly, a great walk along the bluffs, super friendly / helpful staff (both housekeeping and managers Karen and Larry), and perfectly equipped kitchen. We will definitely stay here again!

Two of my sisters and I spent a few days at this clean and comfortable motel for a birthday. Hosts Karen and Larry were warm and welcoming, and enhanced our stay and birthday party with their extra efforts and hospitable ways. They gave my sister a card and a gift, created special safe and sane fireworks for our celebration, and...

The Surf Motel is in a lovely location with great views over the river/ocean. Our room was small but adequate and the fire was very efficient. If requested at booking, there is a bigger, sea facing room which looked lovely. Breakfast was good with fresh fruit and eggs as well as fresh waffles. There was good coffee in the room...

This little motel has a very big heart and a great view, a place to walk near the ocean and a peaceful feeling. They provide a full breakfast, including some very tasty waffles and eggs that are home cooked. Will make this my place to stay in northern CA.

I stayed here for one night on a visit to Gualala and the Managers were lovely and great conversationalists. The room was clean and the heating worked perfectly. Breakfast was tasty and the waffles would definitely make me go back. Views from the little trail by the hotel are gorgeous. I spotted some sea lions on the sand bar. I...

Larry and Karen make your stay in Gualala comfortable and friendly! Best managers I've ever encountered in a motel, so friendly and helpful. The feather beds are very comfy and though the room was small, it was nice. Thanks for the ribs, Larry!

The first thing we noticed when we walked in was the huge pillow topper on the bed that made the bed look pregnant. It takes up the entire room, so we brought in only what was necessary and left the rest of the luggage in the car. Once we got into the bed, it was very comfortable. Breakfast the next...

This place was absolutely the best ocean front hotel I've had! Larry and Karen (The new managers provided a wonderful environment to stay! We all (Larry, Karen, and a couple of other guests had dinner by the fire pit (Larry and Karen cooked for us) and talked while listening to the ocean. I am on the road for about 6...

Under $100.00 for a clean quaint room. Rooms are small and older. Fireplace is heat source and either on or off. Breakfast is pretty good; scrambled eggs, sausage, biscuits, gravy, waffles, cereal and juice. Spectacular viewing deck. Chairs and a fire pit are also available. Good option for this area of higher priced offerings.
