I did a lot of research and this is clearly one of the better places to stay close to Yosemite. Not to mention, the tours they offer are top notch. BUT - if you're looking for a quiet, relaxing place, this is NOT it. The children really run this lodge. They are everywhere, and they are impossible to escape. Even in the spa, they made a huge effort to create noise barriers to block the screaming children noises from getting in, but occasionally you could still hear them. Speaking of, the spa is LOVELY, I would definitely recommend booking some time there. But again, they attract a TON of kids. My husband tried to take a nap one day and he said he just couldn't because of all the yelling from the pool. Even in the 'adult only' jacuzzi, kids were climbing around and swimming. This is really moreso a place to embrace your inner child - we loved playing the games they had around the property. If they ever plan on expanding, it would be nice if they could create a more peaceful section for adults to just relax... but it doesn't really seem in their brand. Family friendly is definitely the vibe of the place.

Hotel's Favorite
We stayed here for two days and it was amazing and we wished we had stayed longer! We booked it since it was on the tripadvisor center of excellence. I’m a bit surprised it is ranked lower than it’s sister property since the rooms are new and clean and love that it’s fairly accessible from Yosemite National Park (fifteen minutes from the entrance on a fairly flat road). The rooms were beautiful with natural wood and were the cleanest among the three hotels we stayed at during our CA vacation (despite this one ironically being the lowest nightly rate of the three). The bathroom was spacious and loved the modern touches and I miss the rosemary scented hand wash! We loved the balcony as well as the views of the stars from outside. This was our first resort experience and we loved the nightly s’mores they had for the children and the different activities they had planned—some for a fee such as glassmaking while others are complementary such as s’mores. The pool was wonderful at night (the pool is open 24 hrs), the ping pong table fun, and loved the game room (we borrowed Clue and really enjoyed it both of our nights there). The one downside is there is nothing close to this so from an eating standpoint you either eat in Yosemite park, drive 30 minutes to the nearest town, or make reservations at their restaurant. The restaurant was booked for dinner the two nights we were there (they managed to get us in but it was a bit of juggling). Service was friendly—one of the waitresses was fantastic while the other waiter we had one night was a bit more flustered so not as great of an experience (but understand since staffing must be difficult). If we ever come back to Yosemite this would be the place we would want to stay and if we lived in the Bay area I could easily seeing making a week at this resort an annual tradition to enjoy such breathtaking natural beauty and a fun time for families.

Hello, this is Teri writing on behalf of our team to let you know how much we appreciate your well thought out, kind comments. It makes everyone so happy to hear how much you loved your time with us during your California adventure. How fun that you noticed that our sister property, the Evergreen Lodge, ranks higher. We enjoy a friendly rivalry, so your comments will undoubtedly reignite our efforts to overtake their #1 position! ; - ) We appreciate your patience as we are working hard to staff up and train our newcomers on our hospitality standards. We're looking forward to the return of our poolside bar-b-que's soon to help provide an additional layer of dining options. We hope you do come back to Yosemite some day, and look forward to welcoming you back. Happy trails, Teri and the Rush Creek team

When first pulling into Rush Creek you are greeted by mountain style resort accommodations set in the mountainside just 1 mile from Yosemite Park entrance gates. We stayed in a 2 bedroom villa at the end of the property. It was a short walk to everything and was nice to be separate from the main lodge rooms and have our own space. The villa was cute and cozy (the hall into the villa is a little unwelcoming with flooring etc, but its a good place to store everything and flooring is adequate to handle snow and wetness without making a mess). We had a light snowfall when we were here and it just made the weekend with the "lodge in the mountains feel". We dined at the lodge 2 nights and had breakfast 2 mornings. The food was hit or miss. One night some of our group of 17 enjoyed it and some did not, and the next night others did and more did not. Service was ok in the restaurant. We had one woman (regret not remembering her name) that was excellent and attentive. The others were ok... had to as multiple times for things and took forever to get them. We DO UNDERSTAND they may have had a staffing shortage just like everywhere else you go today. Would definitely stay here again. Cleanliness, the pools and hot tubs, the spa, and the mountain feel outweighed the mediocre food. Was a great stay overall!! Tips: we ate at Evergreen, Rush creek's sister accommodations, the food and service were excellent. Skip breakfast and do your own thing.... very pricey and was mediocre at best.

We had an awesome stay at Rush Creek. It was nice to have a lot of amenities to come back to after a day in the park. Kids loved the pool and playground, especially the game room, and parents could relax wherever. The beds were comfortable and our room was clean and nice. Staff were professional and helpful. The food was delicious, but the menus are small so any more than two days you will want to figure out something else to do for food. It is expensive, but we planned ahead knowing that we wanted to eat there for a few meals for the convenience. We recommend you stay in a top floor room; we had a villa with people upstairs and their small kids were running around early and late. There were also two wedding parties while we were there, so there was loud music and lots of people until 10ish every night so just be warned on weekends or busy party times. This is not a quiet, couples resort if that is what you are looking for. It is a beautiful and comfortable place, and we would definitely stay there again.

Hello Kate, I'm happy to hear that you have a favorable visit to our property. I'm sure other future guests will appreciate your advice as well when booking at our lodge. I would love to mention that our sister property Evergreen Lodge is just down the road about 10 minutes and has a wonderful restaurant as well that has a different menu. To add variety to your stay I recommend them as well as any of the wonderful and charming restaurants along 120 leading up to the property in the town of Groveland. As you found out our property is a wonderful wedding destination and you're right, weekends are prime for them but hope that it didn't detract from your stay with us :) We hope to see you again in the future! I was at Rush Creek for an intimate business retreat and was impressed at once by the level of attention provided to every issue: the front desk staff was alert and knowledgeable...and cheery, which isn't always the case. The grounds and surroundings can't be beat: literally just outside Yosemite's Big Oak Flat (120 West) entrance, and though it's a large complex, it's well integrated into the environment, with an updated rustic mountain lodge vibe. My room? I'm disabled, and my room was closer to being a mini-suite, with sliders from both the bedroom and living/sitting area out to my own spacious (furnished) balcony overlooking the VERY large pool and other outdoor water features - including large built-in party-sized jacuzzi. The bath was likewise large and had a sink area between room and water closet. And the room had its own (gas) stove for both ambience and practical heat - with a convenient timer switch. Very quiet - and I stayed on a weekend and the lodge seemed to be well-booked. The restaurant was large, though our organization met and ate exclusively in the private dining room. The menu's range of offerings was enticing and the cioppino in particular made a great impression. There's the old adage about never ordering seafood in the mountains, but Rush Creek's contained a very generous amount of all appropriate seafood, in large sizes - and seemed to be fresh rather than frozen - though that's pretty much an impossibility given the distance from fresh sourcings. Service was attentive and not intrusive; breakfast and lunch offerings were likewise excellent. Likewise the bar - and there was a wonderful rec room with pool table, foosball, lots to read, games to play and much much more including indoor and outdoor shuffleboard. I'm scarcely touching the surface simply because our work for the weekend prevented much time for exploring the resort, but - it's all there. And it was VERY impressive!

This is one of our favorite hotels in the Yosemite area for all seasons! The staff is so kind. The rooms are huge and decorated with care. The spa is our favorite part and one of the best I have ever been too. We stayed there for hours! Outdoor hot tubs are awesome and pool is heated. Restaurant and cocktails are fresh! The lodge has an oversized fireplace, lots of seating and games. This is a place we visit as a couple and also with our three children as there is so much to offer them as well! Don't miss staying here!

I cannot recommend this place highly enough. Firstly it’s 5 minutes from the entrance to the park. The rooms are large and clean with a beautiful cottage feel. The food is outstanding!!! In a remote hotel the food is sometimes expensive and terrible but you are “stuck”… this is NOT the case here… The chef makes a fish stew that is a guest and staff favourite with reason!! It’s amazing. We found the staff to be lovely and helpful. The pools and hot tubs are incredible. I wish I’d made a spa appt in advance because I was unable to get one upon arrival. So I can’t review that area. The highlight of our trip was the tour we took. We signed up for the day long Wonders of Yosemite. We lucked out with our guide Jim Pence who grew up in the park. He was incredibly knowledgeable, kind, helpful and really showed us the best spots in the park. Including his school!!! It was the best day of our 2 week California road trip!

Booked two 2-bedroom, 3 nights. Rooms clean, rustic furniture; inconvenient, loud barn door style doors. No TV, good idea, but does everybody agree? Poor lighting in open bathroom and toilet/ shower area. Negative: Main comment: mediocre food, slow disorganized service, expensive breakfast- not worth the money and wait e.g.: Coffee cold before milk arrives; one ! slice of toast with eggs - cold, dry, not buttered; you want 2 slices? - pay extra!; standard hash browns - only deep fried potato cubes. It took us (4 adults, 1 child) over one + 1/4 hour to order and get served and out the door. Staff has no uniform, no name tags and looks like.... well, I don't really know. Certainly not like staff where brfst for 4 plus toddler costs about $ 100 +

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Rush Creek Lodge. Our room was clean, spacious and comfortable. Although the main purpose of our trip was to visit Yosemite, we actually decided to go out for only the morning one day so we could spend the afternoon enjoying some of the amenities such as the pool, hot tub, bocce ball and hiking trails that are right on the property. Although we were travelling as an older couple, we went to the firepit nightly for S'Mores. It was a nice gathering place to meet people and relax at the end of the day. The staff at the Activities Desk were helpful in planning our day in Yosemite Valley. We ate in the restaurant every day for breakfast and two nights for dinner, and enjoyed the food. The service was generally good. Although we visited during the week, reservations for dinner are recommended. We also drove 15 to 30 minutes to visit other restaurants for variety and also to pick up additional snacks for our room from the grocery store. The General Store on the property, however, does have a good selection but at higher prices. We didn't mind the absence of a television and we found the wifi sufficient to watch Netflix on our devices when we did want to just relax a bit before bed. We did a fair bit of driving during our visit so we could go to Yosemite Valley and Mariposa Grove. However, there was also a beautiful 5 km waterfall trail (that had water even in October) just a few minutes from the Lodge. There is also a beautiful trail on the property that has a stunning overlook. I would definitely recommend Rush Creek Lodge to others.
