Yosemite Lakes RV Campground is an authentic American RV park located just outside of California's beautiful Yosemite National Park. Ideally situated just 5 miles from the west gate of the park entrance, this 400-acre preserve is a wonderland of activity during the summer. The South Fork of the Tuolumne River running through the preserve is ideal for swimming, fishing and panning for gold. This RV campground in California is just 35 miles west of Lake Don Pedro where fishing, boating and water skiing are popular pastimes. The state's largest public cavern, Moaning Cavern, is also a well-known local attraction. With 254 full hook-ups, 130 tent sites, and a variety of cabin and yurt setups, Yosemite Lakes RV Campground is ready for your visit. Our RV campground in California is set in one of the most majestic natural settings in the country with plenty of woods, water and mountains to explore right outside your campsite.

Thousand Trails Yosemite Lakes is often celebrated for its cozy ambiance, complete with live music and campfires, set against the backdrop of striking natural scenery. However, some guests have called out the property for being overpriced, highlighting unreliable Wi-Fi and poorly maintained amenities. Although the location near Yosemite National Park is a draw for many, visitors should expect a drive and potential delays entering the park. Service and room cleanliness receive mixed reviews, with maintenance and upkeep being common issues. Despite the natural allure, travelers warn that the experience may not justify the cost.

Our group of 4 (two couples) booked at three night stay for one of the campground sites. This was the first time our group had stayed at a Thousand Trails property. We arrived promptly at Noon for check-in so we could have first pick of our campsite. We were originally hoping to score a campsite on the river, but found a site very close by with a lot of privacy. We were fortunate that no one choose to occupy any of the neighboring sites for our entire stay, so the privacy was excellent. We utilized the close river access daily, the quick stop/mini mart at the top of the hill for ice runs and snacks, bathhouse and convenient location to Yosemite National Park (~45 minute drive into Yosemite Valley). Everything was exceptional! We will definitely be returning and staying at this property again. =)

My only criticism is that the bathhouse near our campsite was closed. This was due to not many guests staying in that area and some maintenance problems. We had to walk at extra 200 yards to next closest bathhouse which was no big deal. The bathhouse had everything you needed, but would not consider it a premium experience. Having one more hook in the showers and/or a bench would have been very helpful.

This is a nicely maintained campground with close access to Yosemite National Park. The campground itself has nice amenities and a quiet setting. There is no cell phone coverage, although you are given helpful information when you check-in that will direct you to a location outside the campground where you can get a cell signal. There is decent complimentary WiFi if you're willing to stand right next to the main office. You can pay $5.95/day or $14.95 a week for WiFi at your campsite, but we found that signal to be weak and we had to walk about 100 feet away from our RV in order to get a connection. Of course, when you're camping you're supposed to disconnect from the world and you can definitely do that here. It was nice and quiet and dark enough at night to easily see the stars and the Milky Way.

Great place to camp. right along the river. right at the entrance to Yosemite. Staff was alittle short handed. Restrooms needed more attention getting up Priest grade a little tight but in the end it is worth it

We stayed in the tent loop. This loop is a bunch of sites cut into a steep hillside, so many of the sites are sloped. Additionally, most of the sites are very small and only have room for one small to medium sized car and one tent. Finally, almost all of the sites are right on top of each other.

They should have a camp host staying in that loop, or at least send some staff through the campground after quiet hours (or perhaps they don't have posted quiet hours?). Our first night (Thursday) our neighbors stayed up partying until 11:30pm, and sat around talking loud enough to hear with earplugs until 12:30 or later. Friday night, two groups of neighbors were up shouting and going on until Midnight and one group was playing loud music, laughing, and partying until after 1;30am.

I like to have some music in my camp, but I try to keep it so it's not that loud once you get out of my camp, and I also like to stay up past 10pm sitting around the campfire, but try to keep my voice down and not disturb the rest of camp as it get's later into the night.

The campground is close to Yosemite which is handy if you weren't lucky enough to land a campsite in the park. Additionally, it was really nice to have clean(ish) bathrooms with warm water and soap for washing your hands (cleanest my hands have been camping in a LONG time), and free showers was nice to have.

The RV sites are down the hill, on flat ground, near the river. The ones closest to the river looked to have shade at least part of the day and seemed nice. I didn't stay there so I can't say for sure.

They have free WiFi at the main area for check-in but it is very limited in range so you need to go sit there. Handy if you really need to get connected for a few minutes. Nice that you're not tempted to be online while out camping. The paid WiFi in the tent camp loop is a waste of money.

At $60 a night for a tiny sloped tent campsite, I could only see myself going back here if I had a desperate need to be in Yosemite early one morning but couldn't grab a site inside the park. Drive time to the valley is just under an hour (if no line at the gate), so it's more convenient than driving in from the Bay Area.

I discourage U to stay here unless UR camping out. Our YURT was dirty, as in DIRTY when we checked in. They were strict on the check-in policy at 4pm, but yet it wasn't clean at all. It smelled like sewer. Our bathroom was gross, it had hair in the shower. The fridge was dirty. Luckily, we brought our own clorox qipes, disinfectant spray and clorox spray to clean the whole bathroom and kitchen. For the price we pay, it was NOT worth it. The only positive, the river. We had our own access and the fire pit where you can make s'mores. Again, it smelled like sewer. It was disgusting. When we addressed this, we were told that housekeeping cleaned it thoroughly. Thats it! Look somewhere else. This review is only for the YURT.

The place was great, we enjoyed our stay. Really close to Yosemite North entrance. The cottage could have been a bit more clean. We end up deep cleaning the place the first day we stayed, dusting, sweeping, cleaning the AC filters, dusting the ceiling fans, etc..
Bathroom and kitchen fixtures where spotless, silverware, plates and bedding were clean too, so no issue on those. Sofa bed was uncomfortable, mattress was too thin and we felt the cross-bars.

Superb location along the river, and nicely laid out. Would be excellent for tent camping with a couple of families to create a more private setting. Tent sites are VERY close together, but when we were traveling, tent sites were mostly empty. NO SOAP in restroom #8 men's side; very troublesome with COVID-19. This should be fixed at once. There was also no clearing of flammable material around fire rings; had to take time and a makeshift scraper to have a safe space.
This is a basic practice in public camp-grounds should be taken care of in more pricey private ones.

I stayed in a tent this past weekend and overall had a nice stay. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the proximity to the Yosemite entrance is only 10-15 minutes away (another 30 mins or so into the valley). The gas station nearby is open 24 hours for gas, but only open 8-8 inside (and they sell firewood!) The hillside tents were full so we were in the ponderosa section which was nice. There was a mixture of quiet small families and louder larger groups. Not all sites were available to help with spacing during COVID, which was great. The bathrooms were limited to 3 people at a time and always had soap, TP, and PT. The showers were a bit dirty Saturday night, but just glad to have a shower after the long hike we did and they were thoroughly cleaned the next morning. Kind of pricy for a tent site, but the proximity to Yosemite is hard to beat.

We stayed at the Hillside Tent sites for 4 nights. The campground is conveniently located near the Big Oak Flat entrance of Yosemite (15 min drive). The tent sites are fairly spacious, with a lot of shade, a fire ring and a picnic table in each site. It's removed from the road and very quiet at night, and very well separated from the RV part of the campground.
Our only complaint was that there was no hot water in the bathrooms during our stay. We were able to use the bathrooms at the other tent site by the river, where there was hot water. The bathrooms could have been much better maintained and kept cleaner.

We stayed here for three nights. It was a one hour drive to the Big Oak Flat Entrance of Yosemite. We could not get a reservation any closer to Yosemite for a RV campsite. It was a nice place to stay. Hot showers. Laundry on site was only open 9a-5p so we were never able to use it (we were in the park at those times). People were respectful of quiet hours. Internet is not free: you get one free hour, otherwise you have to pay but it was $9 for one device so not a big deal.

We just drove into the park, but I did call and ask and they that YARTS does stop at the campground and takes you to the visitor center. However it only runs seasonally. It is currently not running but should be starting again in May. More info can be found at their website. I can’t include the url but it is YARTS and easy to find. Hope this helps!
