A unique hotel in a fantastic location. The owners were so helpful, warm and genuine. They gave us recommendations and spent time answering questions about the local area. We enjoyed food on the second night and thoroughly enjoyed exploring the local area. Thank you so much for a fantastic stay!

Stayed here whilst visiting Yosemite. Room was well decorated and equipped, with a very comfortable bed. The staff were extremely accommodating and helpful. The fridge for guest use in the foyer was a God send and the cool bags great value. Highly recommend.

Hotel Charlotte is a great base for visiting Yosemite and the Sierra Foothills. Rooms are comfortable and clean with lots of rustic charm. The owner/innkeeper, Finn, is so friendly and enthusiastic about the hotel and his work, he makes you feel very welcome. They also have a wonderful restaurant - Charlotte's Tavern. Everything is excellent, and I highly recommend the pork chop - amazing!! There was live music at the restaurant one night during our stay. Mellow folk and jazz - not too loud or too late at night. Free parking in back. Fresh muffins, fruit and coffee in the lobby. Hotel Charlotte is right on the main street of Groveland with several shops and restaurants. Go to the historic Iron Door Saloon across the street for drinks and casual meals, including a good breakfast. Go to Mountain Sage for the best coffee in town in a wonderful old cottage with a gallery, clothing shop and plant nursery. The historic Jamestown is nearby and worth exploring. While in Jamestown, try wine tasting at Gianelli Vinyards. They have a beautiful terrace/tasting room on a hill outside of town with amazing views, friendly service and great wines!

I’m going to give an honest review. The first time staying at this hotel was with the owners who last owned it back in 2017. It was truly a wonderful and relaxing atmosphere. Staff was genuinely kind and helpful. Now, for the new owners, they added a nice touch to the outdoors areas. My reasoning for the one star was because our stay was horrible due to the owner running his mouth day and night. He speaks very loud and fast. Has no regard for guest relaxing or sleeping. We waited 20 minutes to check in because he was running his mouth and wasn’t even paying attention. Whatever you do don’t sleep in the nicer rooms downstairs close to check in or his office. Also, bring your own linens. Our sheets were not clean. And neither was the furniture in our room.

There's a reason why countless reviews mention the staff - their friendliness (Finn especially) puts this quaint hotel over the top. While we loved the cozy atmosphere, clean accommodations, and delicious food, the staff made us feel welcomed and a part of their little family. They even greeted my pup with some treats in our room upon arrival. We would be delighted to stay here again.

Where to begin, we got a room that was next to where they took out the garbage in the kitchen. We asked if we could move and they moved us down the hall to a room overlooking the beer garden. I was hoping to get sleep but the lights kept streaming into my room. I asked if they could turn them off and they said no. So I stayed up to light coming in my room and noise coming from the tavern after hours. I went to look for the owner to ask them to politely to tell the other guests of the noise. Only to find out it was the owners themselves drinking and being disruptive. I don't why this place gets good reviews I mean the owner is a good guy but I over heard him talking badly of his gusts 'demands and requests." As for the food its good but radically over priced so I went to eat somewhere else only to over hear again but the staff. They are very two faced to their guests and I wonder how everyone recommends this place. I visited again at a different hotel a year later and tried their food. Don't get me wrong it was good but not worth the price. They got counter service but charge an arm and a leg for ANYTHING. The new bartenders can't make drinks to save their life, they taste like a cough syrup mixture in a glass. Words of advice, drink at the salon for fair prices search elsewhere for a fair price meal. Again the food is good but very overpriced. Overall disappointed by the owners.

The host were very accommodating and my overall stay at Charlotte was excellent. I look forward to visit again in summer with family. I will recommend Charlotte to others who plan to visit Yosemite in future. I will definitely try their lamb shanks on my next visit.

Finn the host is AMAZING. He greeted us on arrival and is one of the nicest, friendliest people I’ve ever met. I hope he can remember us, we are that couple from Yorkshire who got married in Vegas ;) (remember, it’s York-shuh, not York-Shire hahaha). Finn explained eveything about the hotel and Groveland itself wonderfully. I’ve never had a warmer welcome anywhere. The hotel is beautiful, and very clean. The rooms are beautiful, and still have all their vintage charm. There’s a nice bar area downstairs (lovely staff!) and a lovely place to sit and soak up the sun out back. We stayed here for one night while travelling from Vegas to San Francisco, via Yosemite. I wished we had time to stay here longer. The hotel is located on the (only?) Main Street of Groveland with some other places to eat and drink right on the doorstep. I want to go back! Heck, I’d live there! Wonderful place. Thank you, Finn and the team!
