2 weeks before our confirmed reservation I was emailed that there were no rooms available because of a booking issue. No offer for restitution. No offer to make amends. Instead of trying to make it right they just said: "We're booked for months." Over email again... I had to call the establishment myself to figure out what the issue was.

We spent two nights in the Apartment over the 4th of July weekend. Of the available rooms, we picked the Apartment because of the fridge and interesting mid-century decor. The house is eclectic, unique, and situated near downtown with easy access to Hwy 49 for side trips to Nevada City and nearby state parks. Best of all, Posy and Howard were welcoming hosts, providing delicious breakfasts and fun conversation while we ate. They know so much about the area and answered every question we had, which was very helpful as it was our first time in Grass Valley.

A rambling old house high on a hill overlooking downtown and the forested hills beyond. The walls are covered in great, interesting, original artwork. Furnishings are a little battered, but not past the due date, and utterly comfortable. The breakfast comes out hot and fresh. (No Costco coffee cake here.) And the hosts couldn't be nicer or more accommodating. And our little Chihuahua was welcome, (sans pet fee.) If you're looking for something really posh, (or even a TV set in the room,) this may not be for you. However, if you want to feel as though you may be visiting the longtime home of a sorta quirky aunt, check out the Swan Levine House.

Thanks so much, Skip! Our core values are authenticity, connection, community - and we do our best to bring them to life in the house, which means increasing the opportunities to disconnect from the usual screen life and have time to talk, reflect, connect, and play.

Welcoming reception, warm-hearted, ambiance, artistic milieu, local lore, idyllic location! A B&B you'll keep coming back to. Located in a neat neighborhood in walking distance of shops and restaurants. This was our 4th visit and we stayed in the Apartment, complete with a sitting room and kitchen. The hosts, Howard and Posy make you feel totally at home and we can't wait until our next visit!

Absolutely magical home filled with art, history and treasures. Howard and Posy are wonderful hosts and great cooks. We stayed in the Green Room and loved it. Next time we'll probably choose the Apartment or the Cabin. If we could live here, we would!

Just enjoyed 2 nights in this incredible art and heart-filled space. Rented "The Apartment" - 3 rooms including a kitchenette for $120. Charming hospitality (treated and felt like family), delicious nutritious, visually appealing breakfast. Easy walk to downtown. Highly recommend, and hope to return!

I second Cliff V's review! We also stayed in the Surgery - light filled and airy - and very pink! Tasty breakfast served at a big table that seats 8-10, so you get to chat with other guests and Peggy and Howard. They're very involved in their community with the arts and historical preservation, are very knowledgeable about the area, and happy to help their guests.Eclectic collection of painting and prints throughout the house and tons of books to peruse.

We had a lot of fun staying here. We rented the Apartment. There were 4 of us the first night then just 2 for the second night. Plenty of room for 4 people. We even had our own private entrance and deck! The accommodation was comfortable. We loved all of the artwork and got a kick out of checking out the studio up in the attic. What an amazing house. I cannot wait to see the rest of the rooms. The breakfast was good, I felt like I was sitting at my grandparents house. Very warm and inviting.

We stayed here for 4 nights in July. The house and the owners are full of character. Simply delightful. If you are looking for a beautiful place, with a really comfortable bed, full of great art, a delicious breakfast and a really smart, well informed couple—this is the place for you. Fabulous! The very quiet air conditioning in the bedrooms was much appreciated. We stayed in "The Suite". Had a bit of trouble using the online reservation system, so I ended up just calling and making a reservation. Maybe that was a temporary glitch.

We chose this B&B amongst the many the area has to offer because of the interesting background of the house and variety of rooms. As charming as the house was itself, the owners really made it all come together. Peggy and Howard were very friendly, had lots of informative background on the area, and many recommendations on things to do. The house has so much character and their personal art collection was great. Breakfast in the morning was delicious and relaxing. We stayed in the surgery room, which had great natural light, a comfortable bed, and a good sized space. It was just a 3 minute walk from downtown Grass Valley, and just a few miles from the Empire Mine. We definitely visit again in the future.
