We were at the Circle Bar B last August and we had a great time, this was our quick getaway from Los Angeles. Plenty of space for social distance , rooms were clean, we had an option for “ no meat” meals. Staff was very helpful and plenty of nature around. Horse riding is amazing and the ranchers were so much fun! . Please note the road narrows down to one lane before the ranch. Would love to go back once Covid is over.
We spent three nights here, in the cottage. It was perfect for a family of 4 with 2 kids. The weather was lovely and just cool enough, in the evening, to enjoy building a fire in the wood burning fireplace. They provide the wood and kindling. Our cottage had a tv which kept kids entertained when they woke up early, and for the husband who can’t miss Sunday night football game. But these are old, small TVs (the kids said “what’s that thing?” There is WiFi in the lodge but not in the cabins (it says that on the website but they’re not lying.) Breakfast and Dinner were good. It wasn’t fancy but good. I do recommend bringing some treats and snacks to eat in between meals since there’s no where else, nearby, to get food. It was nice to gather with other families in the Lodge each night and enjoy a drink from the bar, and conversation. The kids and I played card games and did word searches while the fire burned in the big Lodge Fireplace. There were a couple other families with kids about the same age and everyone, especially the staff, was so friendly and eager to converse. There was a rec room that the kids enjoyed, with ping pong/ pool/ football. The pool isn’t heated so was cold this time of year, but the hot tub works fine and we relaxed our feet. Of course the trail ride is a must! The guides are very knowledgeable and friendly. It’s not an easy trail as there are inclines and declines but we all felt safe and our 7 and 10 year old, who were nervous, loved it! Other nearby adventures include driving up to Solvang (about half hour) or down to Santa Barbara (about 20 min). Overall, we loved it and hope to return with friends.…
Have wanted to stay at this property for long time. My sister and husband live in LA area and love it. Had to postpone trip in April, but finally got to go with my family in October. Kathy, the multi-generational owner was so great working us in finding a way to book on the only days that would work for us, despite big family reservation filling the property that weekend. She even upgraded us to remodeled Homestead Cottage which was awesome. They made use feel safe in the COVID era the whole time, yet still have the feeling of the property's history and unique appeal. Having no phone or internet was perfect to start our escape from 2020 reality. Amazing how many people come up just for the day to use the stables. I grew up in the Texas Panhandle in the 50-60's, and the feel of the ranch, the friendly staff, and the the way we were treated took me back to my childhood days. If you live in Central California or LA area, perfect place for a long weekend getaway, if you can get reservations. Check them out, it's a long drive from Texas, but I could see spending time there again, even with my travel rule of never going to the same place twice.…
My family and I had an awesome stay here! The staff were very friendly and helpful, the hospitality was top tier. We enjoyed the horseback riding so so much, of course in part because of our great guides AJ and Jimmy. We will be coming back in the near future.
Circle Bar B is the perfect place to unwind and disconnect from the hustle and bustle of city life. Plenty of things to do for everyone. Went horseback riding into the mountains with strapping cowboy Randy who was full of jokes and colorful commentary ($75 pp for 1.5 hrs). My horse Goldie was gentle and obedient. Scenic and relaxing ride. The ranch has a pool and jacuzzi, horseshoe throwing pit, foosball table, ping pong, and billiards. We visited Refugio State Beach (10 min drive away) and also hiked to Nojoqui Falls (25 min drive away). Al fresco dining with plenty of social distancing. Breakfast was pancakes one day and french toast the next. Plus, eggs, cereal, yogurt, bacon, and fruit. Dinner was teriyaki chicken the first day and catfish / chicken the next day. Also had children's options like mac & cheese, chicken nuggets. Stayed in the amazing 2-story Hillstead Homestead which was spacious and comfortable. The owner Kathy was so welcoming and friendly. No cell reception and limited wifi (only in the main building) which was a plus but it was a social media/ news detox. Loved staying here and a big thanks to Kathy!…
