Detailed Reviews
Stayed at the Hotel Brandwood for two nights and loved the location which is downtown Glendale with in walking distance of restaurants and shopping. This boutique hotel's rooms are small but clean and comfortable for the price. The baths are clean with real tile walls and nice fixtures with pleanty of really hot water plus the pressure was excellent. I stayed in a king room and the bed was very comfortable with nice sheets. The room has a working desk and an armoire with drawers for your clothes. A mini bar is also available with fairly reasonable prices. Additionally, there is a clothes steamer in the room with is a bit unique. You'll also find two bathrobes for your use but as usual they are small and unusable for me. A small flat screen television is wall mounted with satellite tv and plemty of premiere movie channels included. Now to the cons; There is little to no parking available when you want to check in but there is some public parking in the back alley that is cheap to use when checking in. The hotel does provide overnight parking at the Sears location about a block away. Next, as mentioned in every other review, are the stairs. The lobby is on the second floor of the building and you have to climb some steep stairs to get there and for some lugging luggage up might be an issue. I would suggest checking in first and asking for help with your bags. There a not enough outlets in the room which can make it difficult to charge devices. Then there is the window mounted air-conditioning unit; it is very loud when running and may make it difficult to sleep. This is a known problem because the hotel does provide earplugs in the room. This location does not allow pets and is non-smoking. Finally, for the price this hotel has a great location but it does have some issues and it's not for everyone so check the reviews carefully.

Staff is very friendly and helpful. Room was clean. Beds were comfortable. We felt safe here.
There are 30 stairs up to the front desk and the rooms, with no elevator. My 84-year old mother struggled a bit. (We did not know this when we booked the hotel.)
Our room was booked for 3 people but was only supplied with 2 sets of towels.
The bathroom door, which is at the foot of the beds consisted of frosted glass panels which let all the bright morning sun into the room with no shade on the bathroom window.
There was no refrigerator or microwave, which are amenities we are used to having.
The room was very small for 3 people in 2 double beds. No chair to sit in. No place to relax. And there is no lobby to hang out in either.
This hotel is in a great convenient area so I would recommend as long as you can navigate stairs well and don’t put more than 2 people in a room.

Pros: Clean rooms, nice front desk as well as cleaning crew. Great location next to Americana, a lot of places to eat and shop. Cheap to free parking. Refrigerator in the room. TV in the room with a lot of channels and you can also just connect your chromecast. Free wolfgang puck coffee in the rooms. Air conditioning, comfy bed.
Cons: Spotty internet, saw a tiny roach, thin walls, no elevator, parking few blocks away. Tiny refrigerator (good there is one but it's really small), no microwave. Thin walls. Old towels.
I'm staying here for around 2 weeks while working. I'm having a lot of problems with the wifi here (I think their router is old and losing data packets). I have to constantly reconnect and disconnect every 30 minutes or so. It starts from 30-60 mbps download speed and dwindles down to .15 mbps in after awhile so their internet connection is fast, just router is the main issue. Heads up to anybody who plan on working here. Luckily my office is in the city so I can drive in but it takes like an hour so not ideal. I'm hotspotting off of my phone for meetings because wifi here is unreliable.
Also as everybody stated, parking is few blocks away but I felt safe walking back and forth from there. You have to climb either 2-3 flights of stairs no matter what (no ground floor) so be aware of that. The hotel lobby is in the 2nd floor. I also saw a tiny roach in the bathroom which wasn't great.
Also super thin walls. I woke up to someone else having fun time in the next room and I can also hear their music/tv so heads up.
Also big closet but it's super tall, is it made for giants?
Otherwise, great location, people I talked to seemed pretty nice, comfy bed.

A fun trip to the Rose Bowl but the accommodations were hardly deluxe. First, it was 33 stairs to get to the lobby and your room. Beware if you have mobility issues. When we got to our room, we saw a bottle of water cost $5, no waste can in the room (except bathroom), the bathrobes they left were size xs (and when I mentioned that to the hotel worker, he said he knew about that!), but the worst part was the placard on the door said the maximum room rate was $200. We were paying nearly $250 a night up 250% from their normal rates. When I asked them to adjust the rate so they were in compliance with their own advertisement, he said he would check with his manager. The next day, upon check-out, I asked if he adjusted the rate and he said yes. I asked for a copy of the bill and guess what, no adjustment. He said he never heard back from his manager and those were old rates. Funny because the day before he told us that he had never read the placard on the back of the door. They also added some other fee for $9 that we have no idea what it was for.

I'm a sucker for old school boutique hotels, and this meets my criteria. I read reviews on it prior to arrival and knew that parking was off site; that they have no elevator and have to climb 32 steps up to the checkin counter, but that didn't deter me because most of the reviews I read were very positive about great hospitality by the staff. The young man who checked me in at 8ish came with me to my car to haul up my suitcase, laptop computer, and cpap machine. He told me that since it was Saturday night, I could park in the Bank of America parking facility behind and next door to the hotel, at least through Sunday. After that, he gave me a hanging tag for parking 2 blks away. There is a back entrance, too, from the alley, the side you park on. I was on the 2nd floor and had 50 steps to ascend to get to the 3rd floor where my room was. My room is small, but the bed is comfortable, and the bathroom & shower are very good. The tv works well & has many channels via DirectTV. It has everything one needs. Cleaning staff do a good job. I will have stayed here 7 total nights. There is an ironing board, a closet to hang clothes in and a chest for other clothes, a small fridge, too. A/C works well. Nicely appointed. Highly recommend this hotel.

Stayed at Hotel Brandwood for a 2 week trip to the LA. Extremely comfortable bed, and an abundance of pillows of different weights and softness, which was massively appreciated! A good-sized desk, coffee making facilities and fridge in the room. DirectTV with good reception, along with really good, easy and reliable internet access.
The best thing is the location though. Whilst there is no cafe/restaurant in the hotel, you are minutes walk from pretty much any food you could want. Sushi, steakhouses, Italian, burgers (inc. In & Out), and dozens of coffee shops. There is also the amazing Portos bakery/cafe a few doors away which serves a great selection of breakfast and lunch food (you will come back from your holiday carrying a few extra pounds, but it's totally worth it!) I noticed there is also a spa and place to get nails done just next door if you're into that and want to pamper yourself. For shopping, there is a huge range of shops from Bloomingdales to Tiffanys, Apple and other high-end stores just 5/10mins walk. It's also a great central base for getting to studio tours, theme parks and other touristy things LA has to offer.

We stayed at Hotel Brandwood the night before our day trip to Universal Studios in December 2021. It turned out to be very convenient. The pics for BH are accurate, showing a clean, tidy and uniquely decorated.
The bed was a little squeaky but once you are settled in you forget about it. It is an older hotel and not the Ritz but well maintained. Parking is free but it is about a block away. If you park on the main street to check in, be sure to pay the meter or the parking enforcement will get you. It will help to bring the majority of your luggage with you at check-in despite the stairs.
The staff was super helpful.
If you are a light sleeper it might be a bit noisy. If you are a picky person that likes super fancy, well maybe this isn't the best fit for you.
We look forward to returning to Hotel Brandwood when we revisit Universal Studios Hollywood.

Cutest hotel in an amazing location. Arthur at the front desk welcomed us warmly, helped explain the parking and picked a room on the top floor just as we asked. Seems like an old historic building with loads of charm and warmth. The room is smaller as other reviews have said but it feels right.

Located in the heart of Glendale, we were pleasantly surprised by Hotel Brandwood.
First of all, the location was amazing. Walking distance to everything within the downtown area.
Secondly, the rooms were clean with a bit of a Victorian / Rustic flare.
Staff was friendly, and the area was safe.
Parking was located about a block and a half away near the SEARS.
Would stay again in a heartbeat!

It was the second time we stayed at this hotel. Great location. Ideal for shopping and dining. Walking distance to Americana at Brand and Westfield Shopping Mall. Next to Porto’s Bakery.
The hotel was decorated nicely in classic style. The check in girl was very friendly and helpful. She upgraded our room to a Junior Suite and gave clear instructions for parking and access to the building.
The suite was twice as big as the the room we had last time. Clean, beautiful decorations, comfy shower and bed. Quiet evening and good sleep. Convenient onsite parking behind the building with $5.
Would love to return in the future.
