$100 for a "Penthouse Suite" should have been an obvious flag...I just didn't have time to research (and check Tripadvisor) so I took the bait counting on Marriott to protect the Residence Inn name. This Motel has been in Fremont forever and it shows. Buildings are poorly lit, parking is scarce (with a charge), and some interesting characters are nearby. We stayed one night and checked out first thing in the morning and went over to the Homewood Suites in Newark...literally 180 degrees different. Every negative review was correct and I'll add that elevators are missing...two flights of outdoor stairs in in poor lighting is ripe for an accident, then add in another flight to get to the loft in the suite.

Dear Czardemars, Thank you for choosing to stay at the Residence Inn Fremont Silicon Valley and providing your honest feedback on the Guest Satisfaction Survey. Providing the highest level of hospitality is our number one priority and we sincerely apologize for falling short of meeting your expectations. We hope next time to provide you an experience that will leave you wanting to recommend our property to your friends and family. Unfortunately, our Penthouses are all located on the second floor of each building, we will be happy to accommodate you in two of our studios on the ground floor during your next visit with us. As a teachable moment, we have shared your feedback with the appropriate hotel team to ensure the necessary guidelines are in place to prevent this lighting and cleanliness issue from occurring again in the future. Once again, thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We appreciate you choosing to stay with us during these unusual times. Sincerely, Maria Mendoza General Manager

I am a frequent Ambassador level guest at Marriott properties. My stays are for long periods which is why I like the Residence Inn which is supposedly designed for this type of traveler. This is a 1st generation property built with apartment style buildings containing the equivalent of apartments. The kitchens in the early generation are full including range/oven. Later generations only have a two burner stove top. This property also has the penthouse loft style apartments which are not suitable for someone who is mobility impaired but otherwise very nice and spacious with the upstairs loft bedroom/bathroom. First generation Residence Inn is by far my favorite to stay. Front desk is very sweet and helpful. I found the housekeeping never failed. It is always good. There are some negatives... . Parking is seriously inadequate especially when they are catering to construction crews and their rigs that take up 5-6 spaces a piece. . Traffic noise is quite intense!! The property is immediately adjacent to a major freeway on ramp. I have had to pause telephone conversations waiting for motorcycles and other loud muffler vehicles to pass by so I can hear. I had to sleep with the TV on to help drown out the traffic noise. . This area is close to the bay and salt water. The windows are obviously never cleaned. You can barely see out of them they are so filthy. Screens are missing or looking like they are about to fall off. Don't open them as there are wasps flying around them and you wouldn't want them in your room. . Rooms are dated. They need to be renovated. My bathtub was so chipped. Spider webs all over the walls. Had to use some serious muscle to open the front door. It didn't hang quite right and tended to stick at the top. . This property offers a limited breakfast but there are no evening social meals on either Monday or Tuesday. . Pool is out of service and it doesn't look like there are plans to reopen it soon. . There is a homeless encampment on the other side of the fence fronting against the freeway on ramp. I have also seen people walking around the parking lot. The area does feel a little risky though I can't say anything happened to me. I was just a bit worried. All in all, if you prefer the early generation Residence Inn with the full kitchens, fireplaces and penthouse loft suites, this one is adequate. If these things don't matter to you I think you can find a better property at a better location.

Dear Valued Guest, Thank you for choosing to stay at the Residence Inn Fremont Silicon Valley and providing your honest feedback on the Guest Satisfaction Survey. Providing the highest level of hospitality is our number one priority and we sincerely apologize for falling short of meeting your expectations. As an external property, traffic noise is something difficult to control. If you do choose to stay with us again, we will make sure to put you in a room away from the on-ramp. Homelessness is also a challenge, however, we continue to notify local officials to mitigate the situation. As we transition out of the "Covid Era", we are in the process of bringing back our full hot breakfast, enhancing the overall property, and getting out pool serviced for us to our guests. As a teachable moment, we have shared your feedback with the appropriate hotel teams to ensure the necessary guidelines are in place to prevent an unpleasant experience such as this. Once again, thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We appreciate you choosing to stay with us during these unusual times. Sincerely, Emily Hsieh General Manager

This hotel is BY FAR the WORST hotel I’ve been too & it’s VERY expensive for no reason what so ever. I would have preferred staying at Motel 6 then this hotel. Here’s why . 1. They had duck tape on the walls holding the wall together. 2. They had Super dusty fans (which I am highly allergic to) 3. The bathroom toilet paper roll holder was completely broken 4. The showerhead was unattached from the wall 5. The TVs didn’t work 6. The phones didn’t work so I had to use my phone to call up to the front. 7. The oven was broke 8. Room service was horrible no one came to assist us whenever we called we had to go down there to get any items we needed because they said they were not going to come out and give it to us. 9. There was a ring around the tub as if someone took a bath and the room service never cleaned it. 10. There was a dirty rag in the sink. Honestly the list just keeps going on and I honestly believe that this hotel isn’t worth a dime keep in mind the deposit is $1000 . Oh but they don’t tell you that until after you decide you’re getting the hotel and you’re actually there because they said they don’t have to tell you until you get there. I am basically writing this review because I feel like for the amount of money this room cost you can get you something way better with great service.

I was staying just one night for business and was very lucky to roll in right when happy hour began. Drinks, food is a great way to welcome guests. I was lucky to get upgraded to a two bedroom suite, however I wish I was staying longer and had my wife and kids with me. Two bedrooms and a full living room with a kitchen was kind of a waste, but I really enjoyed the luxury space. I was extremely happy with my stay and next time hope to bring the family.

My room was clean, front desk was helpful and efficient. The Mix was a big disappointment as usual...I'll take this chance to address "the mix" as a concept at all RIs...they used to be a light dinner and drinks 4-5 nights a week...but over the years has been scaled back to Monday and Tuesday and occasional Wednesdays. And the offerings now are bottom of the barrel in terms of both quality and selection; Homewood Suites does a much better job with their evening social. Back to Fremont...good location, clean rooms, not bad at the right price.
