Love the accommodations and friendly hospitality here. We stayed upstairs in the room called ‘Captains Quarters’, all of the detailed woodwork is incredible. Wonderful bed and linens and an unbeatable view with expansive windows overlooking the Pacific. The other two rooms upstairs were vacant, so it felt like we had the place to ourselves. The only drawback was hearing voices and kitchen clatter of staff downstairs fairly early in the morning. It seems that sounds really travel throughout the main building of the Inn. AMAZING & thoughtfully prepared dinners by chef Adam Stacy, truly memorable and a good wine list too. But it was the ATV tour of the wild and massive property here that was a true highlight, marrying the rugged outdoors with the civility of the Inn. Otis is extremely knowledgeable and perfectly suited to share his passion for this property, as he is a local that works the land. From the coastline to the 800 ft. elevation gain in the conifers across Hwy 1, to deep inside the Redwood forests, Otis shared some fascinating history and a wealth of information on the flora and fauna here. His wife is an herbalist and tends the vegetable gardens at the Inn, Otis said they also forage mushrooms for the chef. We value this connection to the Inn immensely, thank you Otis!! We really enjoyed this adventure, in between the very well-appointed features and comfort of the Inn at Newport Ranch.…
My husband and I call this place our second home. Since COVID, this is the only place that we have been able to travel to where we feel safe and have way more than 6ft of social distancing. We were very fortunate and were able to stay here twice in December, our second stay was for Christmas! Due to the travel ban our Christmas plans were ruined and we had to cancel our trip to Park City, UT. As soon as we found out we had to cancel our trip, I phoned the Inn to reserve a room! As this was my first Christmas away from our families, I couldn’t have imagined a more perfect place to spend my Christmas, with our extended family at the Inn at Newport Ranch! The Ranch was decked out for Christmas! There were 2 Christmas trees in the main building. By the way they made their own decorations with all of the natural things they found on their property: wreaths, garland and even the ornaments! They had the fire place roaring and Christmas music playing in the background. Talk about cozy!! I have lots to tell you all about so I will get started. ABOVE & BEYOND! It really is about the people who make the experience here… I want to tell you all about Frankie for a moment. Frankie is the MAN! He can make anything happen! As my husband and I are from the Bay Area, we are HUGE Warriors Fans. We were a little bummed that we were going to miss the game on Christmas day. I just happen to bring it up to Frankie at Breakfast and next thing I know he told us that he could make it happen! He was able to get the game for us on a spare TV in the main building. We watched the game as he served us lunch and beer from the delicious kitchen at the INN. My husband was mind blown as he had no idea that we would get the chance to actually watch the game! Frankie scored major points with us for making this happen! #WARRIORS Bridgette is also one of the gems here at the Inn. Her recommendations don’t stop coming! We now have a new favorite beach to visit in Fort Bragg thanks to her! I mean this beach is AMAZING! I’m not going to tell you about it as you have to go to the INN yourself and talk to Bridgette Since we can’t stop ourselves from making frequent trips here, you would think that you might run out of things to do but you don’t! There is so much to do here. We have gone on both UTV tours that the INN offers. We still wanted to go out on the UTV’s so Otis, our favorite tour guide EVER, made a custom UTV tour specifically for us! He got to show us some amazing spots on the property that not many get to see! Otis has taught us so much about the Fort Bragg area this past year and he continues to educate us! Even gave me some book recommendations! CHRISTMAS DINNER!! I can’t even you guys, I barely walked away from the table as a feast was presented to us from Chef Adam. The dinner was amazing but I have to tell you about these mushroom ravioli (Otis and his wife forged the mushrooms from the property), with truffles flown in from France. (*Please note I hate mushrooms) I ate EVERY last Ravioli on my plate! I will only eat mushrooms from the Inn! This dish blew my mind as well as my tastebuds! Ian, a jack of all trades suggested an amazing bottle of wine that complimented the meal! Ian also makes a mean cocktail (Our fav is East meets West) at happy hour! We always go to happy hour to see Ian to catch up and enjoy a tasty drink before dinner! Note on Dinner: overall dinner here is good, the new Chef Adam definitely has an amazing talent! They used to charge $75/PP for dinner, it was quite a bit of food already. Now it is $85/PP and let me tell you, it is way too much food for someone like my husband and I. We eat really small portions and could literally share the entire meal for 1 person. I wish you could order a la carte and not be committed to a $85 dinner, we end up wasting the food and I hate wasting food. I would definitely eat dinner here more if we had the choice to itemize our dinner. BREAKFAST!! – You all know this is my favorite meal! Chef Victor is the best! When I win the lottery I will have to steal him from this establishment and hire him to be our own personal chef (in my dreams ) I love breakfast at the Inn, Victor always makes sure we have everything we need and some. On a side note to breakfast, the Inn changed the way the used to do breakfast (a little disappointing). There was fruit and pastry provided before your main meal. I know it may sound small but the pastries that Victor makes are TO DIE FOR so missing out on that was a bummer. Nevertheless Victor made sure to make us our favorite Millionaire’s bacon as well as the best Waffles I have ever had, they literally melted in my mouth! I just wanted to give a shout out to Rikki! EVERY time we come here she literally makes everything happen for us! She coordinates our meals, UTV trips, massages, picnics and more! This amazing woman is so kind and genuine and is so willing to go above and beyond to make everything happen for you to ensure you have an amazing stay while you are here. TO THE OWNER: I have heard so much about you and I can’t wait for the day when our paths get to cross. This place you created has become a piece of Heaven on Earth for my Husband and I during this pandemic and will continue to be a place we visit way after the world has returned to normal. Even after we leave, we spend the next weeks talking about this place and how much we love it. Because of you, we are able to experience your vision and learn more about your passion for this place and the people who work here. I can go on and on but I feel like 2 pages is enough haha! See you for Trip #6 on Friday! Spending Valentine’s day at the INN, can’t wait!!…
This is a hidden gem, for sure. 2K acres on the coastline. Boutique resort/inn with incredible woodwork, customizations, and fine craft in every inch of all dwellings. The ocean roars, there is wildlife all around you, and it's very private - a privilege to be able to stay here for sure. We stayed in the Ranch Room and the Newport Suite. I'll break those down below. We had dinner one night - $85/pp made me have high expectations. I'd give our meal 4/5 stars. Our apps were each FANTASTIC, my entree very good and his not great, dessert was very creative but flavors didn't hit the mark. It was indoor dining but they do a good job of spacing the tables out. Really, the best part of the Inn are the 2 incredible wood burning fireplaces. We really enjoyed drinks in front of them. Breakfast is included and it was fine. Bummed they didn't have fresh squeezed oj. They have a full bar and cocktails, which we enjoyed. There's also a "happy hour" every evening, which means guests can have 1 wine/beer and they serve olives. Ordered a butternut squash sandwich for lunch - $30. I also asked if they could bring an extra granola bar (when you check in there are ginger cookies and granola bars in your room, delicious) and was told they were only for newly arrived guests. That rubbed me the wrong way when I'm paying $800 night and a 15% svcs charge. The Rooms: Ranch Room - in the Inn, very small but comfortable. We stayed 1 night so it was perfect but not sure I'd want to stay longer. Newport Suite - Pretty incredible. Very spacious - bedroom, sitting area, small kitchen and dining area. Amazing wood features including redwoods in the room! Amazing patio that faces the ocean, and hot tub. Loved the bath towels. Really lovely - only bummer is you can hear just about every cough, sneeze, step from the upstairs guests. Service charge - They charge 15% of on all optional add ons and the room too. I think it should be 20% for the meals, tours, etc, but charging it on the room itself rubs me the wrong way and makes me uncertain if the staff are actually seeing 100% of that service fee. Luxury resorts do charge resort fees so call it that instead and make it a flat fee (again, unless 100% of it is going to the staff that keep the place running). Net net - The land, the craftsmanship, the sheer natural beauty makes this place so very special and unique...and yet, it didn't meet my expectations at this pricepoint. I felt nickel and dimed at points and it didn't have the level of service I was hoping for. (keep in mind this was during covid restrictions so likely I'd feel there's more value in staying here when you can have access to the hot tub/sauna, the happy hour on the coast, and other "typical" amenities of a non-covid stay)…
The Inn at Newport Ranch is our new favorite getaway! The land is breathtaking and so simple yet so pristine. If you want to relax and feel like you are the only people there, then this is the place. We went on the mushroom foraging excursion with Otis and Felicia, and let me tell you it was so epic. We got to learn so much about the history of the land, forest and the mushrooms! They are two of the kindest heart felt people you will meet and spending the tour with them made it what it is. We will be back to spend more time on this ranch exploring and relaxing. One of my all time favorite places on earth.
My husband and I cannot recommend this Inn more highly. Not only is the setting absolutely stunning, but the staff is incredible, always going above and beyond to ensure all of your needs are met during your stay. Accommodations are beautiful and the food is exceptional! The on-site vegetable garden, used for daily meals, is unlike anything we’ve seen before (thanks to Felicia’s incredible work!). Truly love this place and hope to come back again soon!
