I brought my two little ones to the Grey Whale Inn after discovering the inn here on Trip Adviser. We were looking for a fun little get away but had no real factors other than images and reviews to impact or decision on where to stay. From the first contact to our farewells. We arrived to the friendly kitty on... More

I drove to Fort Bragg on a spur of the moment and took the chance I would find somewhere to stay. I have wanted to stay at the Grey Whale Inn since I was a kid, it is such a beautiful building and grounds. I called and Mike was just across the street at a great little cafe. He met... More

Nice and old boarding inn, clean rooms but old. Towels thin but clean, sheets clean, and pillows OK and a wonderful cat named Sweetpea to welcome you. Good for an overnight hen passing through but not a romantic B&B.

My boyfriend and I stayed the night on our way to visit the redwoods. The place/staff made us feel at home. Rooms were decadent. Breakfast was delicious. Very accommodating of my emotional support animals too, which I really appreciated because I require their ongoing presence for my disability and places are not always nice about it. The other nice thing... More

We were camping our way down the Pacific Coast last summer and found ourselves out of options as night was approaching and we were in the vicinity of Fort Bragg. We noticed the amazing gardens surrounding the Gray Whale Inn, so stopped and peeked in as we passed by on the main highway through town. There didn't seem to be... More

If you give me a cozy, clean room with its' own fireplace and an antique desk, I'm a happy camper. If this room is in a mansion filled with a myriad of unique other rooms, reading nooks, comfortable lounges, then I'm gonna hang out for a while. And if I'm a block from the beach, with a generous breakfast prepared... More

We came down for my last birthday, got one of the top floor rooms, and we found it relaxing, a little old looking, but what do you expect. We will come back, maybe this time we'll try out the breakfast (we came on off season, their was no one else their), also, sweat pea was adorable(we let her in our... More

Mother/daughter getaway for a few days. It was perfect for us. I had booked a room online and when we arrived we were upgraded, as the booked room was already in use (website error). The new room was super. Very large and nice. The inn has plenty of atmosphere and Mike was helpful and friendly. The location couldn't have been... More

We had a wonderful stay at the Grey Whale. Michael was friendly and accommodating and made us feel welcome from the start. Location is great. The Skunk Train station is right across the street and downtown Fort Bragg is mere blocks away. Glass Beach and the seaside trail is just as close. Our room was comfortable and clean. Breakfast was... More

We stayed at the Grey Whale Inn 29 years ago for our honeymoon. We returned this July for our anniversary and were pleased to see the Inn is still very comfortable and charming. The breakfasts are outstanding. We will return again soon!
