We had the pleasure of staying at the North Cliff Hotel earlier this week and could not have asked for more. Our room overlooked the harbor. The sounds of sea lions, boats, and the horn from the lighthouse all provided tremendous ambiance to the picturesque setting. A short walk to the harbor provided several excellent restaurants, all of which seemed to have their own fishing boat to provide the special for the evening meal. Our room was spacious and had everything from an ironing board and a microwave to the more traditional plush robes and a safe. There was a fireplace too! A continental breakfast completed the package. Ft. Bragg doesn't have quite the draw on tourists that Mendocino has ten minutes to the south . . . But there is plenty to see/enjoy in this area -- the Skunk Train, the rugged coastline and more. And, to top things off, the staff was super helpful where suggesting these activities was concerned. The North Cliff Hotel is an excellent choice for a hotel along the coast of Mendocino County! Don't pass it by!…
The hotel was in an excellent location and very clean. It was nice to have a balcony overlooking the ocean and the river. Although the balcony was small, it was big enough to sit and have an evening cocktail and watch the fishing boats come in. They had a gab-and-go breakfast which included coffee, hard-boiled eggs, bagel egg, and cheese which could be heated in the microwave, fruit, yogurt, and some muffins and pastry. they provided bathrobes, wine glasses, plates and utensils. It was close to the Noyo harbor where we ate fresh seafood every day of our stay. They have a few handicap-accessible rooms. Other first-floor rooms only have 4 steps down. I would visit again.
This place is fantastic. Our room was huge and had a fireplace and a view of the water. The bed was so comfy. We were so surprised at how lovely it was. The breakfast was good and the staff was friendly. Highly recommend staying here!
We had a King Room with Balcony, Jetted Hot Tub and Fireplace with great views and access to the River and Ocean Beaches. Very comfortable room. Great service. Small Breakfast provided. Parking has some challenges but otherwise a great choice in Ft. Bragg.
I know, you're thinking, why is he worrying about the wifi when he has a beautiful ocean view? And that is true, it is a beautiful ocean view. The room (3rd floor, no elevator, and you have to go down a half floor before you can start going up to the 3rd) is very nice. Vaulted ceilings, large room, beautiful view. But if I am travelling, I need to stay connected to handle bills, check restaurants, etc. The wifi is spotty and very poor bandwidth. And the hotel knows this, since they apologize ahead of time. But it is their wifi, and they can fix the issue by adding more repeaters or boosters. They choose not to, and that downgrades them. The only other issue, over which they have no control, is the fog horn, that blows every minute or so, fog or no. I expect this affects other lodging as well, but I believe this hotel is closer than most to the fog horn,…
Very clean, very comfortable, breakfast is so-so but works. But, the place is beautiful. Looking out over the little bay to the ocean with stuff going on and with sunsets, was wonderful. Everyone was nice, the bed was comfy, screen door on balcony allowed us to have great air to sleep in. Would go back there in a heartbeat.
My husband and I have been traveling throughout Northern California and decided to stay here on our way to the Redwoods. Boy are we glad we did!! We stayed in the King spa room with ocean views. We got to enjoy a wonderful dinner steps away at the cutest pier restaurant. After dinner we enjoyed the most exquisite sunset right from our balcony and spa tub. The room was extremely clean and they didn’t forget a single detail. We slept so well on their comfortable bed too! We’re hoping to catch them again on our return trip south. Book the room. It’s worth it in more ways than one!! Can’t beat the price, either!
This place is right on the coast overlooking the entrance to the harbor. Even better , you can walk across the parking lot and be on the trails of the Noyo Headlands park. We were on the third floor with a great view. This floor also has vaulted ceilings so the room felt very large. Sinks are outside of the toilet and shower which came in handy as it was me, my wife, and two teenage girls! Staff is accommodating and everything was clean and in working order. Despite being by the main road, room was super quiet. One tip, the third floor is awesome but there is not elevator.
Since we planned on driving the Avenue of the Giants, Fort Bragg's North Cliff Hotel was our home base for two nights allowing us to be able to visit the main spots along the Avenue while still being close enough to good food options within Fort Bragg and 20 minutes from Mendocino. Because of Covid, breakfast is just a brown baggie with coffee cake, a KIND bar, and a tiny orange juice that you can pick up in the morning or the day before from the lobby. The king suite without the in-room spa had a nice sitting area by the fireplace where the spa would be in other rooms that overlooked the ocean and the harbor. It was perfect for watching sunsets or moonrises as we discovered on our last morning. The patio is quite small so not really enough to enjoy takeout with a view (only enough space for your brown bag breakfast). However, the room itself is spacious with a full couch and that sitting area by the fireplace to have ice cream even if it's cold outside. I love that they have real plates and silverware above the microwave for your takeout which we took advantage of replating our Noyo food. The only strange thing is the numbering system of the rooms. There were some in the 300s that is parking lot level but in certain areas, it becomes 200s which can be a bit confusing. Overall had a really pleasant stay.…
I recommend the North Cliff hotel because the views are beautiful, the staff is courteous, the beds are super comfortable and the lobby has many pretty one of a kind art and jewelry. We stayed in the room with a jacuzzi. Glad I brought bubble bath 😎. The swings outside are fun and its a nice hike to the beaches and cliffs. We will return someday. Note: they are renovating but it never bothered us. It was chilly thou so make sure you plan for whatever weather to expect. The marina nearby has great food and shopping so do that too. Safeway grocery store nearby so all the conveniences and a quaint town too.
