Over the years we have increased our SF Bay Area getaways up to Fort Bragg to 4 or 5 times a year. We have become "out-of-town regulars." Great walks and hikes, good restaurants, clean air, ocean roar, marine life...all within view or a short drive from Surf and Sand. Friendly st

Paid $491 for a family room through Expedia to stay here 2 nights - Friday 23rd and Sat 24th November. I was expecting the room to be of a better standard for this price. The decor was really dated and the pillows were not good quality. The included breakfast was help yourself to

Thank you, VickyManchester, for your feedback. We're sorry to hear that your accommodations did not meet your expectations. Surf and Sand Lodge is the most recently renovated of our 3 properties and many of our guests love our rooms. While we don't have an on-site restaurant, we are able to offer our guests a variety of continental-style breakfast options, including breakfast burritos/oatmeal/cereal/granola/muffins/pastries/yogurt/ fresh fruit/juices/coffee/tea/hot chocolate, to start the morning. We also have some great local restaurants, David's Deli and Cafe One, that serve amazing cooked-to-order breakfasts. Thank you for staying with us and we hope to see you on your next trip to Fort Bragg.

I booked this hotel based on the hotel's website and the photos....most of the photos show the front row of 2 story rooms facing the ocean and the paved walking path...I booked a downstairs pet room and was unaware that the pet rooms are located in a stand alone building set back

Thank you, Terri, for your feedback. We're sorry to hear that our stay did not meet your expectations. While we are pet-friendly, we do have a limited number of pet-friendly rooms which are set back from the walking trail. Our carpets are deep cleaned on a regular basis, especially in our pet rooms and apologize that your room had any lingering smells. We do have our pet policies posted on our website, including not allowing pets to be left in the rooms alone. Many of our pet guests tend to become stressed when left alone and bark or howl, which disturbs other guests in the building. In addition, our housekeeping staff can't service a room if a pet has been left unattended. We do our best to inform our guests of the pet policies, both on our website prior to booking, and upon check-in. Thank you, again, for your feedback and we do hope that you will give us another try on a future visit to Fort Bragg.

We stayed 3 nights and I would have like to have stayed a month. We had our young dog with us and had a wonderful pet friendly room. There was a deck off the room and even a gate so our dog could come out with us.
We had an ocean view even having a ground floor room.

Hi, I was wondering if the hotel has elevators or just stairs?
Yes, only stairs. First floor still has great views.

Can you hear the ocean from the rooms??
I could not, but that's not to say someone else could. We spent most of our time with daily activities elsewhere and at the end of the day we were on the beach itself at hotel. It was cool when went in the spring, in the evening and did not leave the slider open. It is somewhat of a protected cove type beach or inlet.

Handicap rooms have roll in shower? View?
We didn't stay in a handicap room so I don't know the answer to this one.

Hi I am wondering about small children who dont yet bike without training wheels...do you have other options like mopeds or bike trailers for kids to sit in back
Thank you, Rshanti, for your inquiry. At this time we only offer adult sized bikes. I suggest renting bike trailers or kids bikes from Fort Bragg Cyclery right on main street. Alex Guest Relations Manager

Do you have air conditioning in the rooms?
No, our rooms don't have air conditioning. I suggest leaving your sliding door open a crack to let in the nice ocean breeze or you can ask our front desk for a portable fan. Alex Guest Relations Manager

"get an upper floor room to avoid the noise"
"If you take a ground floor room you still have a great ocean view and can then walk right off your deck to the beach."
"best ocean view is from the second floor"
"Be sure to get an ocean view room. First or 2nd floor!"
"Call the hotel to book a pet-friendly room - the web-site doesn't make it easy!"
