Nestled in the Russian River Valley of Sonoma County, the Farmhouse experience is an authentic wine country haven of stylish comfort, handcrafted amenities, and attention to every detail. We are surrounded by world class wineries and 100's of acres of vineyards. Our unique West County location offers an incredible wine country experience with the added benefits of the majestic redwood forest and the breathtaking Sonoma Coast all within miles of the resort. With only 25 rooms we pride ourselves on the Inn’s intimacy and privacy, creating a feeling of visiting a private estate. Once at the resort you can enjoy our 13 year-awarded Michelin-starred Restaurant featuring the best of Sonoma dining and surrender to our Farm-to-Table Spa with customized, handcrafted rituals using ingredients from our fruit, flower and herb gardens.
Star ratings are intended to indicate the general level of features, amenities, and services to expect. This property is classified according to Giata.
Upscale but low key, this property is the perfect place to unwind and enjoy fine dining and spa treatments while embracing a charming yellow hued farmhouse village surrounded by towering trees.
A highlight of the hotel offerings is a nightly wine tasting hour hosted by a different local vineyard each late afternoon. We were so impressed one evening with the wine from Gary Farrell Vineyards that we actually stopped by their location the next day and made a purchase. Unfortunately we did not eat on site because the menus even for breakfast went beyond our more limited taste buds. But we did partake in the nightly s’mores offering. I also enjoyed swimming laps in the ample pool which is surrounded by loungers and gets good sunlight in the middle of summer. The pool however needs to be repainted and cushions on those loungers would be a nice upgrade. There is no gym on site, but there is a large spa.
With only 25 rooms spread out over several buildings, the hotel always seemed tranquil which we appreciated. The staff was friendly and the location is convenient to many wineries and charming towns within a five minute drive or more. You can easily self-park, and there is no resort fee.

My wife and I started coming to the Farmhouse Inn about a dozen years or so ago. We love it because it is small and private with charming rooms, beautiful common areas and a highly attentive staff that make us feel like family. This visit, like all of our prior ones over the years, was excellent. We came in on a Sunday for just one night when the hotel was only about 60% full. The concierge recognized us from our previous visits and welcomed us warmly. We were given a complimentary room upgrade. A bottle of wine and a sweet, hand-written welcome note were waiting for us in our room. We spent the afternoon lounging by the swimming pool and had an artisan pizza and drinks from the Farmstand poolside restaurant. The staff was very attentive and continually refreshed our ice-water and towels, and brought small dining treats to all of the poolside guests. We had a 6pm dinner in the fine dining restaurant. The dining room is in the main farmhouse is beautiful in an understated and casual way. The dinner was a Chef's choice set menu, which might not appeal to everyone, but was great for us. We also opted for the wine pairings. We have eaten many fine meals all over the world, but our dinner that night was probably the best we have ever had. From the champagne start and several small appetizers, we were then treated to eight small courses, many of them served by the Chef himself. The Sommelier delivered and explained a new wine with each course, until the final Sauterne with dessert. This restaurant deserves to have its Michelin Star returned! After a quiet and peaceful night in our room and an delightful steam shower the next morning, we opted for breakfast in the restaurant and were treated to a more casual, but just as excellent, dining experience. On our departure, we were again greeted warmly at reception and let them know that we hope to be back again soon! The cost of this hotel, like most great properties in Napa and Sonoma is not cheap, and continues to increase over time, but, for us at least, the experience continues to be worth the price.

Dear Paul L, Greetings to you and yours and thank you both for holding a special place in your hearts for Farmhouse Inn. We appreciate your years of loyalty, and we are thrilled to learn that your most recent visit was just as enjoyed as those hosted in years gone by. Your accolades of the culinary experience, including both the breakfast and the Chef’s Tasting experience. We will ensure your kind words are shared with everyone involved in curating such a spectacular culinary journey and we can assure you that endless smiles will be the result. We hope your visit allowed you the chance to further explore our grounds, including the Chef’s Garden, and of course our Wellness Barn which offers an extensive menu of treatments and experiences. If not, no worries and perhaps you can add this to your agenda during your next Farmhouse visit. On behalf of all of us, we are thrilled to have you as part of our extended Farmhouse family, and we thank you again for sharing your review and including us in your Sonoma County retreats. Welcoming you back will be our delight, and we invite you to be in touch if we can assist in confirming your next reservation. Until then. All the best, Matthew de Quillien General Manager

We’ve been coming to Napa and Sonoma for 30 years and have stayed in many places. A trusted innkeeper suggested Farmhouse so we went with two other couples for vineyard visits and wine tasting.
Sonoma’s draw is its casual, agricultural feel and more reasonable prices. The Farmhouse personified the area set amidst a forested area, landscaped with lavender, rosemary bushes and thyme.
Farmhouse has a sense of place. The staff, from the lead concierge who helped us find wonderful boutique wineries and trouble shot for us, to wait staff to everyone in the office, the food & beverage manager, were friendly and welcoming.
The property has a variety of rooms, some very quiet (barn house suites) and some pick up some of the road noise. Breakfast can be in your room or in the Farmhouse restaurant. On night the six of us sat outside by the fireplace, surrounded by flaming heaters, and had wood grilled pizza and other casual foos at Farmstand — the casual restaurant. Great food and fun!
Our room had a two sided fireplace and a large deck to enjoy the view. Very comfortable space, heated bathroom floors, steam shower — we had a lovely time!

We chose the Farmhouse Inn because of all the rave reviews and because we are often in the Forestville area. We have stayed at top hotels elsewhere (several Ritz Carltons, the Breakers, etc.) but this was more expensive than those, so we had high expectations and were excited for our stay. On the plus side: check-in was very personalized and helpful, including being offered a "bath bar" smorgasbord of soaps, bubbles, scrub, and salts, which was fun. We were able to book wine tastings with partner wineries, gratis, which was also very nice and helped introduce us to wineries that weren't on our radar -- as did the nightly wine tasting held on property. We enjoyed an excellent massage at the spa, and had delicious breakfasts each day. The room was generously sized, with a bar that was thoughtfully stocked with mixers, colas, snacks, fruits, all included. The bathroom had a huge soaker tub, steam shower, and heated floors. There was even had a little outside patio space with a bistro table and chairs. However, for a property like this, it's the little things: there were no bedside lamps, for instance. In fact, all the lighting was overhead can lighting except by the sink and one table lamp on the bar. There were no reading lights at all by the bed, or by the two easy chairs in the room. The chairs themselves were not comfortable, which would have been an easy fix. Again, for the price point, a comfy chair seems like a basic, as do reading lights. The bathroom barn-style doors didn't close fully -- there was always a gap somewhere, or they rolled slowly open after being closed. The roller shade on the room door gapped, as well. We weren't there during a busy time, but at breakfast, the one wait staff fully cleared a table before even greeting us or offering coffee, even though there were plenty of ready tables should anyone else walk in. We weren't in a hurry for any of the breakfasts, which was a good thing, because they took quite a while, despite there only being one or two other tables of one or two people at the same time. There is a nice pool, but again, the furnishings at the pool fall short of what you'd expect for the price point. On the day we checked out, we knew that because of our spa appointment we'd be pushing close to the check-out time, so when we asked the front desk, they said it wasn't a problem, no one was checking in right after us. I was quite startled when I stepped out of the room for the final time, ten minutes prior to checkout, and nearly ran into cleaning staff waiting to get into our room. That really ended the visit on a down note. All of the little things just added up to way too much -- it was like this was someone's first venture running a hotel and they had just whacked a high price point on it to see who would bite, and because it's Wine Country.

Dear Legitimate_Parker, Your review starts with so many thoughtful accolades and we appreciate you providing a thorough and objective review. We are thrilled to learn that so many details left a lasting impression including our bath bar, the welcome experience, and the nightly wine tastings. As a leadership team, we value the feedback shared by our guests as it provides us with a better understanding of what is most appreciated and where there may be an opportunity to further enhance the experience or our spaces. We’ve made note of the suggestions provided and will add those details to our list for further consideration. With that said, we wish to extend our apologies and we hope you know that we are always happy to assist in any way, and if further lamps are required in the future, we can certainly have a pair delivered to the room upon request. Your added comments regarding the breakfast service have captured our attention and we apologize if you were not made the priority. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention so that we can ensure the proper coaching and training takes place and we again extend our regrets. We know you have many hotels from which to choose though we hope you will one day join us again so that we can provide a more consistent experience and earn your endless accolades. If I can offer my personal assistance in making those plans, I invite you to be in touch. Warm regards, Matthew de Quillien General Manager

Don’t do it! Location is right near the highway rooms are very noisy when you asked to get moved they’ll have no availability. The rooms are so small they’re smaller than my walkin closet. We couldn’t sleep the first night so we left they charged us for the second night even though we had to go rent someplace else total scam total ripoff.

Hello odpalarm, It was a pleasure to welcome you and yours to our Sonoma abode though we are sorry to learn that your visit was not better enjoyed. We apologize if the size of the rooms in our historic 1873 Farmhouse left you disappointed and while the square footage of our rooms is posted online, we apologize if this was not noted prior to your arrival. We further regret that our larger Cottage and Barn rooms and suites were fully booked, prohibiting us from offering a change in rooms. We hope you are someone who embraces second chances as we would be humbled to one day welcome you again and ensure for a treasured experience resulting in endless memories to last a lifetime. If we can ever assist in making those plans, we invite you to be in touch. All the best, Matthew De Quillien General Manager

When I embarked on the search for the perfect destination to celebrate our 30th Anniversary, I explored a few options: Solage in Calistoga and Farmhouse Inn. After some consideration, taking into account my husband's preference for Pinot wines,we ultimately chose to stay at Farmhouse Inn for a more intimate ambiance. The decision was also influenced by our reservation at their highly regarded fine dining establishment the Farmhouse Inn restaurant, which had received exceptional reviews under the new chef. I booked a king-size room through booking.com to ensure we could fully savor the dinner without having to worry about driving afterward. However, to our disappointment, we were assigned the most unfavorable room in the entire resort, facing a busy and noisy street (quite the opposite of what we had anticipated for a special occasion which was noted in the reservation!). The resort was not fully occupied during our midweek stay, so I inquired about the possibility of moving to a quieter room. Surprisingly, the only option offered to us was another room at an additional $$$$ (bearing in mind that this was already quite an expensive resort). Given the circumstances, it would have been a pleasant gesture on their part to provide a complimentary upgrade for a special occasion in a resort with plenty of available accommodations.
Regrettably, our stay at the Farmhouse Inn lacked any special touches that one would expect to commemorate a milestone occasion like our 30th anniversary. There was no complimentary bottle of wine awaiting us, no fresh flowers to enhance the ambiance—nothing to make our stay feel truly exceptional. This was a significant letdown, the Farmhouse Inn did not go the extra mile to make it memorable for us. Adding to our disappointment, we found a dead bug on the bed in the room.
I would like to emphasize that this review solely pertains to the way our reservation was handled and not to the Farmhouse Inn restaurant, where we dined and had an absolutely divine experience! The culinary creations were impressively innovative, the presentation was impeccable, and the wine pairings were thoughtfully selected and truly delightful.

Dear Kuzya, I'm so sorry that you had a bad experience while you were with us. As noted, you booked this reservation through Booking.com for our entry level main house 300sf king room. For your reference (and anyone else who may be reading this) PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE remember to always call the hotel directly that you booked through booking.com to let us know any special information. Booking.com does not share ANY information with us or even contact information so we have no way to contact you in advance and find out things like it's your anniversary. We absolutely would have loved to surprise you with something special in the room had we known it was your anniversary. Furthermore, we love to talk to our guests about our room locations and make sure they find the room that best works for them. We have an amazing reservations team that actually picks up the phone and talks to our guests. I'm so sorry that you did not connect with us in advance because we could have cleared up a lot of these issues. When you expressed concern about your room, we did offer you a three category upgrade to the only room category we had available, a 650sf junior suite, which normally books for over $800 more per night than your room category. We had a bellman set up the room and give you a tour. We offered this to you for only a $200 upgrade which you declined. I’m so glad to hear that you enjoyed you dinner. I know Sean did a few extra things for you because it was your anniversary I hope that was special for you. I do hope will consider giving us another try. Sincerly, Joe Bartolomei

We really enjoyed our stay at Farmhouse Inn. We stayed two nights. We experience top-notch service, a beautifully appointed room and quieter section of Sonoma County. The hotel really is great for those who fly into Santa Rosa airport as it is only 10 min away and they have complimentary Volvo SUVs you can use on a first come, first serve basis. One of the staff members even dropped us off and picked us up for dinner in Healdsburg (about 20 min away). I was really impressed with the level of sophistication from the staff, the pristine condition of the property and small touches throughout.

Arrived to an extremely noisy hotel. The Farmhouse Inn is on a freeway, we did not see this fact in the hotel information. The room was cold, the bed was uncomfortable, the towels were scratchy, the bathrobes were thin, there were several spiders in the room, we were served cold food and coffee, and the electrical outlets in the bathroom didn't work. We told them we wanted to leave after arriving, but the hotel would not credit us for any of the three nights we reserved. We stayed one night and left. They insisted that we pay for the nights that we didn't stay. We tried to cancel our massages 22 hours in advance and they told us we needed to give 24 hours. We were extremely disappointed with The Farmhouse and will not return. We are still in shock that they can ask over 1,200 a night for this dump.

I'm so sorry these guests did not enjoy their time with us. They had used American Express Travel, a prepaid third party booking agency, and clearly had no idea what Farmhouse was all about. From the moment they arrived, they were unhappy and it was clear they had done no research. They became irate when they learned that their agent had not requested an upstairs room and because we were sold out, we could not accommodate the request. They refused to go in the room and were abusive to the bellman who was escorting them to the room and a housekeeper that happened to be in the area. They demanded to leave, which they did the next morning, but since they had already prepaid for the entire reservation through American Express we were not in a position to issue a refund. They filed a dispute with Amex but my understanding is they were denied. We had no say in the matter and it's unfortunate they neglected to mention any of this in their review. To anyone out there reading this, Farmhouse is a small property with a tight team and we respond to every email and we pick up the phone if you call. If you're coming to stay with us, or even considering a stay, please take the time to reach out directly and talk to our team even if you're booking through a third party like these guests did. Our goal is to take the best possible care of every guests but if we don't know things, like you want an upstairs rooms, it potentially puts us into a bad position.

Decided to give Farmhouse Inn a try for a 2 night stay. The room was nice and welcoming, rustic charm, clean and comfortable. We booked via Virtuoso so when we checked in, I asked for an upgrade. They showed us 2 rooms, but we did not like them and chose to remain with our basic room. We needed to charge our electric car. The front desk assured us that if we left our key with them they would take care of it overnight. The next morning, we saw that it was not done! Dinner at Farmstead was good. Menu selection is very limited though. Breakfast has only 4 options. The option I chose comes with a fruit, and when I called to ask why it was not provided we were told they had run out of fruit! Odd. It's a cute inn, but for $1,000 a night, not worth it. We will not return. The best thing is the cookies they offer with turndown service.

Hello Aluor, It was a pleasure to welcome you and yours and we thank you for exploring all that the Farmhouse has to offer and for being a valued Virtuoso guest. We are pleased to read that our guest rooms fully impressed and that dinner at Farmstand was well enjoyed; your accolades will be shared with our service and culinary colleagues. As a leadership team, we find great value in learning about the shortfalls as well and we are disheartened to find that details were missed such as charging your car and running low on produce for the morning breakfast. We wish to apologize for these moments of inconsistency, and we hope our team members took swift action to offer alternatives for you. We appreciate we did not earn your full approval though we hope you embrace second chances as we would like one more opportunity to ensure you are spoiled with a proper Farmhouse experience in which every detail is thoughtfully provided. A luxurious, clean, relaxing, service and detail-oriented stay in nature... trickling fountains, immaculate grounds tended to around the clock, rosemary and wild lavender in the air, clucking chickens, Russian River around the corner and minutes from Healdsburg. Attention to every detail (turn down service with warm cookies, toiletries, warm bathroom floors, steam shower, wine tasting hour, plastic free water stations, etc.) and outstanding service... everyone we encountered from the moment we walked in - especially concierge (Eric) to our favorite amazing server (Michael) at FarmStand, drivers, bellman, were excellent. Top notch. The only critique would be that the pool needs resurfacing, but I even enjoyed that as well. The only negative was having to leave.

No fitness center but I think I remember a partnership with a nearby gym. Careful going for a jog. There are some awesome backroads nearby to go for an incredible run through vineyards but getting there involves 1/2 mile on a very busy (borderline hazardous) road for joggers or cyclists.
No business center as most guests are here to get away from work. We do print and fax things for guests occasionally and have a computer in guest services that can be used on a limited basis. If you have a laptop we do have complimentary WiFi throughout the property.
Hope to see you soon.
We definitely accommodate any kind of special diet. And the kitchen is very careful with cross contamination when they know the problem. Just make sure is clear when booking and then remind your server just to be extra safe.
