We spent a delightful weekend at the Lodge for a yoga retreat with friends. We stayed in all the rooms, each with it’s own en suite bathroom, and used the common area for yoga, relaxing, and meals. Breakfasts, prepared by the owner, were exceptional—a variety of fresh fruits, egg dish, bacon and sausage, oatmeal and toppings, blintzes, muffins. There’s a kitchen available for other meal preparations. A toasty fireplace in the center of the room kept us warm as it snowed outside. There wasn’t enough snow to snowshoe that weekend, but we were able to take a short hike at China Wall. The owners were friendly and helpful. The Lodge is the perfect spot for a small gathering of family and friends and I plan to return!
My husband and I just got back from an overnight at Christmas Tree Vineyard. We had a wonderful stay. The property is beautiful and there are lots of adventures out the door or a short drive away. It's a beautiful place for snow sports or hiking. The room was clean and well maintained. There is a large shared living area with other guests. The owners live upstairs and because of this I might suggest bringing ear plugs just in case. Joe (the owner) cooks you a gourmet breakfast, it was one of the best meals I've ever eaten.
My husband, Jon and I cannot say enough to fully explain how kind and helpful Joe (the owner) really is. Here are just two small examples of what I mean: First, we went snowshoeing - which at China Wall is very beautiful. We were out a little late...it was getting pretty dark. Who should we see driving up the main road, but Joe - concerned that we had gotten lost, he came out to make sure we were alright. Next, we rented a snowmobile to try for our very first time. We had a blast, but went through a snow build-up and tipped over. Well, my husband broke the plastic cover for the switch. Instead of being upset, Joe just said, "well, that's why I keep spare parts handy." We were able to use the common area and even bring some food to heat up.
This was the second time our group stayed at the lodge - first trip was couples only, and we had such a great time that the second trip we brought our families! Wonderful, comfy place with a wonderful fireplace in the middle of the great room. Plenty of couches and tables for games. Beautiful location for hiking and playing in the snow! BBQ and large kitchen for making meals and don't forget the awesome breakfast that owner Joe makes for you! Wonderful place to make some memories!
Our stay at Christmas Tree was so wonderful. When I booked the trip, I didn't know what to expect really. But when we pulled up we were so taken aback by how beautiful it was. A HUGE log cabin in the middle of a forest. The first floor of the cabin is for guests, with spacious rooms and common areas along with a commercial kitchen for our use. Joe was kind, attentive and a joy to get to know. We will definitely be back, next time we hope to visit during the winter for a chance to experience this log cabin covered in snow! Thanks Joe for making the trip just that much better!
