My husband and I went to Mataking island for 3 nights and 4 days in mid Sep 2018, we chose the least expensive category of room, but it did not disappoint us at all. All staff are all very friendly and polite. The room was tidy, clean and also spacious. The only thing that we didn

My stay at Mataking Island with my family was resumed at this simple but mean full sentence - we arrived as a guest and leave as a friend.

When I was there, I remembered of all the bad reviews I’ve read and try to understand them…because it couldn’t be true….me and my family we

Stunningly beautiful on land, underwater and inbetween.

Do not confuse this resort with a typical 5 star chain resort.

It is a home made resort and with it comes quirks-some good, some bad, but under-laying everything is a local staff doing their best to keep you smiling.

Hi ChrisKurtGabel How did you find it going from the resort to Sipidan? 90 minutes seems like a long time to be sitting in a boat to a dive site. Did you get 3 dives in comfortably? thanks for your help
The trip was bumpy on the way there and you will be accompanied by soldiers for protection as they had some issues a couple of years ago. We got three dives in easily and it was well worth it. Sipidan has a beach and you will have lunch there before your final dive. It is absolutely worth every second of the trip there and back!!!

I only used the Wi-Fi that was provided at the resort. Be warned though, it's slow.

Hi! Can I ask if this resort includes food? I am looking at a package of 3 days and 2 nights, however, if you have to buy food on top then it may be quite an expensive day! Can anyone tell me what kind of food is served (I don't eat fish!) Thank you!
if you have any food restriction, you may inform this upon reservation then make clear with the restaurant staff again on arrival. the chef can prepare one special dish for you then have a look what you could have from the buffet line. i would suggest double checking on your every meal and if you find anything suspicious you can ask for something else. I was there on a gluten-free restriction, I survived, and had fun to the max :)

Hi, we are planning to visit from 23-27 March 2016 - 1 adults and 1 8 year old boy Is this accessible by road from the airport? How far is it? 2. How far is this from the Sepilok Orangutan resort and the cost / mode of travel to these places? 3. Are there lots of kids activities / things to do? 4. Room options? Many thanks Siddhant
You need to take a boat from Semporna for about 45 minutes. From Sepilok is quite far. Please be aware that most of the guests are Chinese and therefore food is mainly chinese.

Beach Chalet Vs Beach Villa ? - anyone has any input, which is a better option for my parents. I and my siblings will be staying at the garden deluxe but we want to make the villa / beach chalet as our main family chill out place during the day. (chit chat, gather, etc) - On the other hand, the jacuzzi of villa is located at the back so, can't use it while looking at the ocean. And the jacuzzi in the beach chalet looks cleaner in the picture compared to the villa. - but beach chalet does not have a dining table where we can play cards etc to hangout like beach villa. - villa is nearer to the jungle so i am afraid they might have more mosquitoes. - which is better to snorkel.. beach chalet (east beach) or villa (west beach). WOuld appreciate the help as which is a better choice. As I read in the room tips that beach chalet is most value and better location than villa. (But why is it villa is more expensive?)
Warmest Greetings from The Reef Dive Resort, Mataking Island! Dear rufusqueen, Good day! We would recommend Villa the better alternative for you and your family to gather along for leisure, and spending quality time together. The better location to snorkel is at the West beach, sea in East side is much more warmer, shallower but slightly hard to see school of fishes. Supposedly Villa is the luxurious room type among of other room types, however since last year, we have built the newest chalet (beach chalet) and also Semi-Detached Beach Chalet. Thus, we have decided to put these two room types of Beach Chalet and Villa to the same rates starting from 1st April 2015 till now. Unlike Semi-Detached Beach Chalet will be slightly cheaper followed by King Chalet and to the standard room known as Garden View Deluxe. In any case, it is all about your preferences and choice though, in order to keep in touch with us, send us an inquiry email for more info on the updated rates and comprehensive files. Thank you very much for your attention. Have a pleasant day ahead. Kind Regards, Resort Management Officer
