This is the main stop for tourists making their way to the desert camps at Merzouga, as it is only approx 150kms away. We arrived mid afternoon around the same time as a strong dusty desert wind. Our rooms were once again very clean and pleasantly large. The Museum of the Oasis is also located at the Ksar and a...

Full disclosure. We did not stay at the hotel, but came to see the Ksar, view the Berber Museum, and have lunch. As luck would have it, it was the last day of a festivial. The entry to the Ksar was full of locals, enjoying the musical performances, and selling their handmade goods to visitors. They were friendly and welcoming,...

I've been in Morocco for over a week now. We stopped for lunch at the restaurant here, and almost everything we were served was different from anything I've ever had. It was all really delicious, too. For appetizers we were given a plate with two very familiar sights - French Fries and couscous. The third item was the different one....

The lunch was very good. We started with bread soup. It was piping hot. The entree was scalloped turkey in a nice sweet brown sauce. It was served with couscous, French fries, & a hush puppy style item. The food was very hot & tasty. Dessert was a flan type item. Good place to eat a beautiful outdoor setting with...

After touring entire Morocco for days, finding this ksar at the end of a litttle city, Tinedjad, is a little miracle by itself. Located within the Ksar, the hotel is intricated within walls of pisé (dryed clay and hay mix), the rooam are clean, garnished with tons of Berber rugs, from camel wool to mouton and sheep tissage. Please, take...

We ate here for lunch after visiting the Berber museum. We also recommend the museum. The restaurant food was very good and the service good too. There is also a nice view from the tables. The hotel looked very inviting too!

Housed in the restored buildings of a Ksar this hotel is quite special. Not only the traditionally decorated rooms, but also the surrounding area. We dined in the beautiful garden where we also had a quiet pot of Moroccan tea on arrival.

This facility is an amazing re-purposing of a ksar, altering it to become a lodging facility for travelers. Just roaming the building is an experience, and it is adjacent to a larger ksar offering long dark tunnels connecting homes of people still living in this adjacent facility. Wi-fi is available but not strong. Bed was OK. Room was clean. Hot...

The rooms are simple and clean, beds are comfortable with cozy bedding. As the room is in a Kasbah that was built as a fortress, the rooms are dark, with tiny windows. The rooms are very large with a sitting area. The water got warm after letting it run for 5-10 minutes. There is an interesting museum in the hotel...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
El Khorbat is an ancient Ksar, a fortified village, built of soil in the middle of the 19th century and recently restored, thanks to international cooperation. It is located 50 km east from Tinghir (or Tinerhir), in the low valley of Todra, South Morocco. About half of the houses of El Khorbat are still inhabited. Others have been rehabilitated with different functions, as a guesthouse, a museum or a handcraft workshop for women. ... more   less
