    A Grand B&B Experience
The place Is lovely both inside and out. The Decour is fabulous l, everything from the rugs, to the wallpaper, to the wainscoting. The ground floor has many lovely parlors, couches, and comfy spaces to hang out in. Hot water for tea, coffee, and pastries are available almost all day and night. Every room including the Grand parlor has a fireplace, and most appear to have their own balconies. The breakfast was really spectacular and freshly made, and every room gets its own pot of coffee or tea to their specifications waiting for them in the morning. We loved the place and we loved the helpful people working here would come here again.

    Beautiful Victorian B&B
We needed a place to stay on our way back home after a 2800 mile road trip. It was just a chance that I found this wonderful B&B at the last minute in Ferndale. The house is spectacular furnished with beautiful antiques. Sparkling clean and Covid compliant. Our room was sweet with a wood burning fireplace, antique comfortable bed with soft sheets, bath robes and slippers. We had afternoon wine and snacks and a yummy breakfast. Angel greeted us and was very hospitable. The town is cute and old fashioned. It was the perfect ending to our road trip. I highly recommend staying here.

    A Perfect Stay
The only thing wrong with our stay was that it wasn't near long enough! Everything from the staff, to the food, and the grounds was perfect. Our breakfast skillet and everything with it was delicious. We added on one of the packages and they were able to adjust it to accommodate our needs, which was very appreciated. The flowers were beautiful and the strawberries were yummy. We enjoyed hiking and our walk down main street. I highly recommend staying if you are in the area, it's worth the price. We look forward to making this our hotel of choice for future anniversaries!!

We had a fabulous 4 night stay at the Gingerbread Mansion in Ferndale. The happy hour from 4-6 was very good and the breakfasts were brilliant. Staff, especially Kelsey, were very helpful with ideas of where to go and what to do. There was plenty to keep us occupied in the lovely town of Ferndale for a 4 night stay. We highly recommend it!!

In November 2016 we last stayed at the Gingerbread Mansion after which I wrote a glorious review. We came back July 2023 and I feel compelled to write a review based on our experience. We heard from several sources while we were visiting Humboldt County that the building had recently been up for sale. No one seemed to know if it is under new ownership. Either way, I have to say that they have not kept up the the standards we saw in 2016. They continue to proudly displayed a 4 diamond rating, but if they still have that rating then 4 diamond has lost its luster. It's an old house, I get it. Hard to maintain. But they are just not putting in the effort they used to. For example, we stayed in the Fountain Room. I would challenge anyone, today, to stay in that room and figure out why it is called the Fountain Room. It's not related to the water pressure in the shower, that was almost non-existent, or the two bathtubs, that produced no hot water. There is a lovely fountain outside the window by the bed. From our room we did not know that the fountain was still there. We could neither see nor hear it. I am including pictures from our two stays that best tell the story. It doesn't have to be this way. Up the coast a little further in Trinidad is another b&b that we have truly enjoyed, the Lost Whale. We went by that location and found it more beautiful than ever. I'm talking - stunning.

I can't begin to describe the wonderful time my fiance and I had at The Gingerbread Mansion. The different rooms were amazing to look at. The atmosphere was great. The staff was excellent. It was a nice, restful and peaceful place to be. The breakfast every morning was so good, and I'm not a morning person but I looked forward to it every morning. Tea time in the afternoon was so much fun. It makes you feel good and sophisticated. My fiance and I are already planning our next trip in 2024

Exquisite Victorian mansion with all the appointments. En suite bath, 10 foot ceilings and antique furniture put us back to the days of the Newport cottage. Custom made breakfast, we didn’t miss the Best Western food at all. This stay was a real treat and the highlight of our trip. Two blocks to downtown and the Victorian Inn for Mr. Daniels’ delicious dinner.

Stayed in 05 Garden Room ($280 per night). Decent size room with a very large bathroom and nice cast iron claw foot tub. Unfortunately, the tub water only ran luke warm which was disappointing. The self-serve afternoon wine / tea was exceptionally good and very generous as there were plenty of savoury and sweet snacks which were replenished often. The wine was also self-serve with several options and never ran dry. This was definitely a highlight and a nice feature. Breakfast was completely unacceptable. There was no acknowledgment from the disinterested staff member when we arrived in the dining area nor any explanation as to what the breakfast process entailed. We and the other two guests deduced that the breakfast offering was self service of some fruit and the sad tiny pre-made pancakes and what appeared to be foil wrapped Jimmy Dean sausage sandwiches in a chafing dish. This place is nice and it was clean but for the price we would have expected a fully cooked, homemade breakfast. The breakfast was a massive unequivocal fail. As an aside, Olivia the Innkeeper, who was present during check in and the wine/ tea service in the afternoon was lovely.

Staying at this mansion was our favorite part of the trip! We arrived at 4:30 and were greeted with a tour, plus tea sandwiches, finger veggies, wine, tea, and desserts. It's first-come first-served, so I imagine the people who entered at 5:45 didn't find much left, because it was so delicious! We all LOVED breakfast! You choose your time the night before. At 8:00 am the cook told us she had fixed French Toast, but if we did not care for that, she could make something else. Two of us had that, and two had scrambled eggs and toast. Blueberries and grapefruit came with all plates, and a blueberry coffee cake as well. She varies the breakfast menu daily I have heard. We had the Strawberry Hill room which was beautiful and large. Real fireplace with Duraflame log (which we didn't use). Loved that the bathroom had a motion sensor nightlight. I slept pretty well. The bed was good, but may need to be replaced soon. The Hideaway Room is wonderful for parents and a child with their own mini tv and bed in the "attic." The rest of our party slept well there. We loved that we were given free reign of the house and that every door was open (unless occupied) so that we got to check out every nook and cranny. The host did not hover. I asked her where we should eat our pizza and she told us wherever we would like, so we did the front room where a fire is blazing, or turned off by a switch when too hot. We asked if we could play a game there and she replied, "Of course!" Our stay was delightful! We esp. loved the Golden Gait store (which has a mini museum, a Christmas and toy store upstairs, and lots of fun items downstairs, had great Mexican food nearby, found some beautiful jewelry and a tea towel at Ferndale Emporium, ate our cookies in the lovely little park with a mini Victorian house, peeked into the old-fashioned and beautiful post office, chatted with the lovely librarian at the Carnegie library, pretended to use the phone at the old phone booth, bought a set of books at the bookstore, soap at the cremery, and took 200 pictures. Now I want to move here!

A beautifully restored Victorian mansion with top notch service and comfortable surroundings. We were greeted with tea and wine upon arrival and the breakfast was delicious. Ferndale itself is also a gem. Would definitely return if in the area.

Stayed for one night as we drove up the coast. It’s a super cute spot, feels like you are stepping back in time. The house is immaculate. We stayed in the Strawberry room which was huge. Lovely afternoon wine and snacks. I think it was full but was so quiet you actually couldn’t tell. We wandered around the streets and did a little shopping before dinner. Room was comfortable but the bed was not terrific. Still, totally worth it for the experience. Breakfast in the morning was delicious. I wouldn’t stay multiple nights as the town is a bit sleepy but it was a great stay along our route.

This is a beautiful property, restored to look like it would 100 years ago. Furnishings were beautiful. Comfortable room, bed and bathroom. Tea served at 4pm with wine, tea, cheese, vegetables, and cookies. 10 rooms to rent but lots of common room inside and outside so it didn't seem crowded. Choice of times for breakfast. Only thing less than excellent was breakfast food. Bean breakfast burrito or yogurt. At their price, I expected better.
