This hotel is very clean they serve a great hot buffet breakfast. It is within walking distance of grocery store Costco warehouse, other shopping and restaurants. Much cheaper than any other hotel in Napa and about 20 minutes drive to the wine train.

I'd say that you definitely need a car. Downtown Napa is maybe a 20 minute drive away, and the vast majority of vineyards are even further north than that. Unfortunately, public transportation is nearly non-existent in the general Napa area.
