Portari Houses is a magic place located in a strategic place to visit the entire island of Kythira. The level of attention of one of the dearest hosts that can be found, Morfia, is truly uncommon; apartments are perfectly clean and fully equipped with everything you need to call them home during your stay. The taste for the decorations, the forniture and the materials is absolutely spot on. The garden, with accurate choice of plants and herbs, is also a key ingredient of the entire recipe. Morfia, great job with everything and thanks for making our week in Kythira a really special one.
There's no doubt Portari Houses are aesthetically beautiful; the architecture, the gardens, the furnishings, the bed linen....all you see contribute to an instant feeling of well being. But the owner hasn't stopped at aesthetics: the houses are equipped really well from top to toe so that your stay is truly a comfortable one. The location, at the centre of the island, is a clever one for an island as large as Kythira, with all destinations 20 or so minutes' drive. However, the property's biggest asset is the owner herself who is a true wealth of information for all things Kytherian. A chat with her over coffee, before you head out for your day is a must to ensure that you get the most out of this wonderful island!
If you are looking for a place to stay in Kythera, look no further. Portari Houses is strategically located in the middle of the island in a picturesque village. The houses offer the feeling of a private home with the amenities of a hotel. The owner, Evmorfia, is the heart of the place, tending to every single detail and always available for advice and suggestions on where to go and what to do during your stay. The houses are traditional, yet modern with an elegant design and it feels as if the renovation was just completed. We are definitely going back.
I visited Portari Houses in the beginning of September. What struck me was the way the establishment blended naturally into the landscape and its central location. From Aroniadika I was able to visit surrounding areas with ease. Its stylish decor served to create a warm and inviting ambiance so much so that I felt truly in my element. A place I would definitely go back to.
This is an excellent, wonderful, great place. The taste of the decoration is excellent and the restoration work is great. It's simplicity is unique. Everything is so neat and tight. The house has all the amenities needed and even more. The place is extremely clean and tight and everything is top quality. It is a perfect place for a couple or a family with young kids. It is a quiet place and is ideal for relaxing. The only think this great place is missing is view. It is mostly surrounded by other wonderful old renovated houses. It is located in the middle of the island in the old town of Aroniadica. It is ideal for visiting and exploring the whole island since it is in the center of it. Mrs evmorfia (the owner) is the most kind and sweet person. She is there at you disposal at all times . She will make sure that you have the best possible service. She oversees cleaning herself everyday as well as whatever the house might need, just to make sure her guests, get the best she can give. This place is very very nice!…
I have been spending my summer holiday in kithira from several years. "Portari houses" is the best place to stay in the island because is beautiful and confortable. Perfect the location, in the middle of the island, so you can easily reach the most impressive beaches or the main villages. Amazing the houses you can rent, for the excuisite taste of setting and forniture. Nice, quite, fresh (it depends on the senso, actually) and really very charming. The owner, emorfia, is always present with her kindness, friendship and helpuful advice. Portari houses: my own private paradise in kithira.
After 4 years we returned to Kythira and the Portari Cottage. The good news: nothing has changed! The cottage is so beautiful, so well equipped, located between 2 old ruins and a short walk to a kafenion or supermarket. The cottage is very private with 2 outdoor spaces (one is a roof top area) and it is very quiet. Morfia is a wonderful hostess providing us with numerous books about Kythira and cookbooks. She also has a large collection of Greek music and DVD's (if one is interested watching movies.) Aroniadika is one of the 3 Traditional Villages of Kythira and is very convenient to everyplace on the island as it is located at the center of the island where the 2 major roads intersect. If you are looking for a beautiful place to relax, this is THE place! (The Potari Houses are also beautiful and a short walk from the cottage.) Cleaning is daily and very thorough; the place is spotless.…
Choose a place of accommodation to Kythera is not an easy task ! To stay 11 days, we opted for Portari House II in Aroniadika, in the center of the island (6 days) and the Villa Venus, south-east and near to the sea (5 days). 10/10 at Morfia, the owner of Portari, for its hospitality, availability and generosity. All at Portari is well thought out. Nothing is missing, from the kitchen to the bedroom, through the bathroom (and if unfortunately something is missing, Morfia would do everything possible to satisfy you). In a minimalist style, the decoration of the house is very tasteful, all equipment is of the highest quality (bedding, appliances, utensils for the kitchen, etc ...). Cleaning is done every day, keeping the house in an extreme cleanliness. Located a little towards the town, the place is quiet, with a view of the Peloponnese and the east coast of the island. Although 3 accommodations share the large garden, each of privacy is preserved by proper orientation of buildings. Aroniadika is ideally located for exploring the entire island and access its many beaches, the distances are short and the roads in very good condition. The services provided by Morfia (provision of Nespresso capsules and coffee, varieties of tea, etc ..., shampoo and shower gels ; vegetable and fruit garden ; very good Greek music CD ...) give this accommodation a level of "RARE" quality. What we did not know unfortunately before booking Villa Venus, who despite being located Paleopoli facing the sea, turned out to be a very poor choice in terms of comfort and cleanliness ! If we had to go to Kythera again, we would spend 11 days in Portari.…
We stayed at the Spitaki (Small House) which is nestled between old stone buildings in a picturesque little alley of this centrally-placed village. Evmorfia, the owner, was extremely welcoming and hospitable, and within half an hour of our arrival had led us on an oral whistlestop tour of the island pinpointing the best beaches, restaurants, shops (not to mention the tips on what to order/buy at each). Her recommendations were spot-on, and we swam in beautiful secluded bays with turquoise waters and indulged in delicious meals that took traditional taverna dining to a new level. The Spitaki is ideal for a couple, small and absolutely spick-and-span, tastefully decorated in simple modern style with a Cycladic feel. The courtyard is lovely for breakfast, listening to the gentle cluck of hens nearby and watching the gentle breeze stroke through the adjacent pines. Close to the airport and port, on the road which is the spinal cord of the island, Aroniadika is well-placed for exploring all corners of this idyllic island. We will definitely return. …
We stayed 5 days and loved it! We are from Ny- wanted to get away to a small island in Greece with good food and gorgeous beaches- we got just that. Potari is great because you can get to anywhere in the island in a short amount of time. The interior decor is very cool/hip. Brand new. Miele appliances...everything you need right there. Morfia is extremely helpful and knew just where to guide us for a pleasant day. She was so kind and helpful. We stayed in House III and loved the vegetable garden. The place is done well!!! Will def go back.
