The Best Western Plus Humboldt Bay Inn is lauded for its resort-like ambiance and amenities such as the pool area and complimentary limousine service, contributing to its reputation among guests as a welcoming retreat. While the diverse breakfast options are a hit, some visitors have encountered pool heating issues. The rooms are generally commended for their cleanliness and modern touch, yet there are occasional mentions of steep pricing and dated elements.
Its proximity to Redwoods National Park makes it a convenient choice, though opinions on the area's appeal vary. Service at the hotel is well-regarded, with staff praised for their attentiveness, although a few guests have reported less satisfactory experiences.

Best Western Humboldt Bay Inn is a hidden gem in Old Town Eureka. The tropical themed Oasis pool and spa lounge enclosure is so beautiful at night. Breakfast buffet is complimentary and included eggs, sausage, potatoes, waffles, oatmeal, yogurt, cereals, coffee, teas and juice. We appreciated the plant-based food options. The workout room was 24-hour access with a room key. They have recently remodeled their guest rooms and have the most comfortable beds! Rooms are tastefully decorated and include usb plugs to recharge phones. I love that they include framed local artist renditions of historic Old Town in the room. The headboards have retractable mini book reading lights. Spacious dressing area with coffee maker. Our room had a microwave and mini fridge. Guests can reach out to Selina Chauffeur for complimentary limousine service to and from their dinner destinations. The landscaping is manicured and the grounds are super clean. The main lobby has a beautiful aquarium/fireplace wall framing the entrance to a top-notch conference table area that highlights local history, artistry and resources. It's the best and most convenient resort destination to stay at while visiting historic Eureka and The Avenue of the Giants ancient Redwood groves.

The BW+ Humbolt Bay Inn consists of several buildings taking up an entire block near old town Eureka that is situated between 4th Street (which is one-way Southbound US 101) and 5th Street (which is one-way Northbound US 101). There are entrances into the motel area directly from 4th St, 5th St and Broadway. My husband and I, however, were using Google Maps which misdirected us from Southbound 101 onto the one side street without an entrance. This was a minor hassle that was easy enough to recover from, however, we were very happy to take advantage of the motel's free Limo service to drop us off and pick us up from our dinner restaurant so we didn't have to deal with one way streets or Google navigation again during our one night stay. The receptionist provided us with a list of local restaurants and the one we chose was very good and just a short ride away.
The motel's pool area is an inner compound restricted to motel guests only. They call it "The Oasis", and indeed it looks like a lovely mini resort with a pool, spa and lounge area. I hadn't brought a bathing suite, but the kids there were loving it. The breakfast is served next to the pool. The self-service breakfast offerings included microwavable packaged breakfast sandwiches, make-your-own waffles and pancakes, yogurt, cereal, fresh fruit.
We had a large king room that had all the amenities we expected. Our stay was what we expect in a Best Western with the added luxury of the Limo service and mini-resort pool area.

Where to start…? I don’t ever, and I mean EVER look to Best Western properties for business or leisure travel accommodations but having just done 4 nights at this property has completely changed my perspective on this brand!! Absolutely outstanding!!! From the very first interaction with the staff, to the comfort of the room and the overall atmosphere of this property, it felt more like a resort! Our room backed a very busy road but I didn’t even realize that until the day we left. We were able to sleep in every day and never knew there cars and trucks flying by behind us so kudos on however the soundproofing was pulled off here. We had several interactions with various staff and every single one of them were phenomenal. We had an interesting and unique situation where our first 2 nights were paid for by us and the next 2 by my wife’s company internal booking. The front office staff were 100% accommodating and worked it out for us so that we could stay in our original room so we didn’t have to pack up and switch rooms. This was so impactful to us because we got to spend that time exploring the redwoods almost all the way up to Oregon instead.

I’ve stayed at the Best Western Plus Humboldt Bay Inn (Eureka, CA) for multiple nights on two different occasions in the past 4 months. I chose this hotel because of the central location in relation to the town of Eureka and Redwood State Park, and positive online reviews. Upon checking in, the front desk offered me the services of their onsite stretch limo for evening dinner transportation. I didn’t get a chance to use that service but, where else have you seen that??
If you appreciate very clean rooms, excellent linens and superbly kept grounds you’ll love this hotel. It was obvious to me, this property is run and maintained with pride. (Something I rarely see these days) On both stays, I noticed several different hotel employees performing their daily duties that keep the hotel looking great inside and out. (I’ll attach pictures I took of the garden areas).
My rooms were nicely appointed and everything worked just as it should. The AC and heat were simple to operate and worked flawlessly. Both of my rooms had stand up showers (no tubs) which I like. I also really like the hotel provided line of citrus scented soaps and shower gel, shampoo, and conditioner. (That reminds me, I told myself I’d try and track down that brand to buy some). I had breakfast on just one occasion and from what I remember, the breakfast area had make your own waffles, microwavable breakfast sandwiches with fruits and juices.
Both my stays were very quiet and restful. I’ll definitely stay at this hotel on my future visits to Eureka. To the hotel management: Keep up the good work!!

This hotel is not a BW Plus... We stayed one night on a road trip, and by far, this was worst experience of our trip. let's start with the good things: The grounds landscaping is nice and the person at the reception was very friendly and helpful. We stayed in a room on the second floor. Upon entering the room, there was a musty, unpleasant smell. The room is really dated and the furniture shabby. The pillows were very hard and huge. The shower stall is very small (and we are pretty small people). The shower gel, shampoo and conditioner were diluted to be nothing but water with a tiny bit of soap. Yes. They still had the BW "citrus" label on them, but were pretty useless. The breakfast room is tiny and cannot accommodate all the guests. Yes. They have a sitting area in the yard, but it was very cold that morning. The only saving grace was that they had fresh blueberries...
And, the hotel location is in really not nice area of town.
I would not recommend.

We do have many room types to choose from when making reservations (see online), from standard rooms like the one you chose, to larger mor spacious new rooms with separate vanity and bath areas, to our two room suites and family suites. Our breakfast room seats approximately 25-30 guests and on busy mornings, there is extra seating in the atrium area and also the Oasis Spa area. I hope you had a chance to take a spa in our free-form spa complete with waterfalls and special lighting all in a tropical setting with tiki torches, 2 fireplaces and plush seating throughout. Also, did you get a chance to use our complimentary dinner limousine? If you decide to try us again, please call me direct and I will ensure that you are given a different room type to your liking. Safe travels.

Spent several days in Eureka visiting grandkids and had the best stay here. The staff was so accommodating and helpful with our complicated reservations ( handicap access plus second, adjoining room for granddaughter to sleepover one night)
Everyone was cheerful and went out of their way to make us feel welcome, including the housekeeping and maintenance staff. Everything clean and well maintained. Beds very comfy. We always travel with a white noise machine which was helpful since it is near a busy road.
Lovely grounds and pool oasis area…we will definitely be back in another season to spend time outside there
The breakfast setup was fun for a four year old! An auto make-it-yourself pancake maker, waffle maker, yogurt dispenser and more
We used their neighboring restaurant Kristina’s twice, once for a yummy sit down meal, and once for room delivery ( our granddaughter’s first banana split!)

First, the lodging on a weeknight was a bit steep ($300) but we later realized this hotel has a recreational area on site called “the Oasis”. This consists of a large jacuzzi with waterfall, a large fire pit, a swimming pool and pool table and several lounge chairs and tables with lighted tiki torches. It resembled a resort in Hawaii!
The rooms were small but nice. I liked that the fridge actually had a freezer so I could freeze my blue ice for our ice chest! The staff, a young man, was very friendly upon our arrival.
I felt this was one of the best breakfasts provided of any hotel we recently stayed at. You pick what you want from breakfast room: a breakfast sandwich (egg white, sausage party & cheese on English muffin), a juice machine, assorted packaged pastries, yogurts, bottled water and fresh coffee. The sandwich was delicious.
I noticed as we left staff was sanitizing all the tables after patrons left & a groundsman was sweeping up trash & leaves from parking lot. The grounds are well maintained & nicely landscaped. Nice place for families with kids/teens!

We stayed June 2021 for our 39th anniversary and loved it so much we are going back at the end of June 2022 for our 40th anniversary.
The best feature is the 17 person hot tub pool with water fall, foilage and water jets. Seats almost all around. Kids tend to sit around the steps in and out and you might have to tell them and their parents to please keep the area clear. But it is really enjoyable and quiet hotel. The restaurant attached is quite good and the Inn serves breakfast. We enjoyed the area and hotel. One problem was there was not a place to eat in the room, so if you brought a picnic lunch, you could not eat at the pool area even though there was plenty of room and tables. Great staff and they even have a stretch limo to take you to your choice of dinner restaurant.

Pros: Close to old town though in an industrial area. The hotel does a good job of insulating rooms (no noise) and the 'oasis area' (pools, etc) from this. The stretch limo transport is a clever way to mitigate the fact that the neighborhood doesn't feel particularly safe - not in old town nor where the hotel is. The swimming pool is heated to offset the cool climate and the kids loved it. The oasis was a pleasant space to spend time. The room was quiet and well appointed. We liked the big space close to the sink - useful for toiletries for 4 people.
Cons: Overall the staff were great though I had a not so great experience when asking about housekeeping. I hate it when someone says, "As you were told .." especially when that person is someone paid to assist me. Frankly, I wasn't told about not having housekeeping and I had 3 witnesses.. but even if I had been, so what? I was being pleasant ..
Advice to the hotel: put a note on the hotel room doors. I've travel a bit for work and needing to request housekeeping often causes confusion.

Last minute vacation in Northern California, had a few days before a work event, so we traveled a few hours north to see “Big Trees”. Leanne and Michelle got us in at the last minute, we got a room that just canceled, and they got it cleaned ASAP. We didn’t miss a beat on our trip to see Ave of the Giants. One of the cleaning staff happily Gave me window cleaners and towels to clean my dirty rental car windows, very helpful. The breakfast was positive, the laundromat was positive.
