What a great stay. The Carter house exceeded our expectations in so many ways. Despite California’s pandemic rules, they managed to make the hotel open and inviting. Well located, we used it as a base to explore the redwoods and beach. The room was clean and nice with good bed, outlets etc. The common spaces are inviting and the bar too. Service was great. I look forward to going back when the world becomes more normal.
We stayed in a spacious multi-room suite in an old but beautifully upgraded and maintained Victorian. Every detail was addressed: Quality towels, comfortable bed, soaps, salts, lotions and shampoos. And . . . a well-functioning indoor jacuzzi. All very relaxing and a refreshing break from the usual generic particle board hotel. The manager, Rose, is a hard worker and gives personal attention to each guest. Kitty-corner from our building is a bar and restaurant, Restaurant 301, with additional rooms above, also owned by Carter House. The only caveat: The neighbourhood is frequented by odd people/addicts/homeless walking the streets so pay attention to your surroundings and don't leave valuables in car!
We enjoyed our clean room and pet friendly stay. The happy hour and breakfast were really nice touches and the staff was very welcoming warm and helpful. Downtown historic District was a short walk, very cute. Thanks Carter House!
The Carter House Inn couldn't be more charming. Located in downtown Eureka, it is conveniently located to shops and restaurants. The staff is extremely kind, personable, and helpful. They knew the area and could give great recommendations. They saved my spouse and I from an unexpected mistake. We had booked a two-night stay in a different hotel which also had a kitchen. We thought it was pet friendly but discovered last minute it was not. We called around looking for a new place and spoke with the manager, Rose, at the Carter house in. We told her of our dog and food we had brought for a kitchen. She said they were pet friendly, would make sure our room had a mini fridge and would help us with any other food that did not fit. We were so grateful. When we showed up, Rose saw that we had bikes on our car and offered to lock them up in the hotel garage. We simply asked the front desk for keys anytime we wanted to use them. When you walk into the hotel, the lobby, sitting room, front desk, bar, and dining room are all right there. The dining room and bar are slightly separated, but regardless it all offers a wonderful community feel where guests can say hello to one another and enjoy an evening glass of wine, or whatever you choose since they have a full bar. If you can, book the suite on the third floor. The whirlpool bathtub and its view of the town is worth it! …
We adored this Inn,from the moment the staff welcomed us in the lovely lobby. It was our first vaccinated weekend away and the hotel was surprising quiet, close to 101. Some simple niceties, such as complementary wine at check in and fluffy bathrobes were appreciated. They have a stunning bar and a tasteful room with a fireplace to hang out, which I took advantage of and was able to catch up with some dear friends. The bar waitress was a dynamo,we just got excellent customer service across the board. The breakfast was delicious, zucchini quiche was amazing. There is some concerns about the nomad population in that neighborhood,as in every town these days. I felt completely safe and also had my dog with me,which I am grateful they allow. We shall return!
