My stay at the Carter House Inns was for just one night on my way to Eugene, Oregon. I arrived pretty late close to nine pm and their restaurant was closing. The front desk staff who checked me in was kind to make the exception for me so I can get something to eat after having been on the road...

TripAdvisor gave great reviews and I was not disappointed. Cool lobby, fireplace, great happy hour, free glass of wine and appetizers on arrival. Very comfortable rooms, great bathrooms with high end everything. Restaurant attached menu looked great, only had 2 people but we could not get a table because a party of 10 was about to arrive. All good, this is...

We had a nice experience at Carter House Inn. The staff was very friendly and the Resturant offered some very nice meals. Our meals were excellent. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet the next morning as well as French cooked eggs. Very good experience for us. This is a nice place to stay but...

We had a lovely two night stay at the Carter House on our trip to the Muir Woods. Highs: Cute rooms, excellent dinner experience, amazing wine selection, easy check in with friendly and helpful staff Lows: Neighborhood is a bit strange, breakfast was mediocre, room rates were a bit high for the neighborhood. Recommendation: A good choice for a trip...

I decided to explore a new family tradition for Thanksgiving, and chose the Carter House. This was an excellent choice. The staff was very accommodating and attentive to this mom, travelling solo with a toddler boy, and made us feel right at home. The food was exceptional, and the wine list out of this world! In addition to the staff,...

Eureka is such an obvious stop on any US west coast road trip. We've stayed there overnight a few times, but struggled to find food and accommodation that was better than "adequate". Until we happened on this place. Close to the water. Beautiful buildings recreated in the style of the nearby Carson House. Great wine cellar and incredible food. Apparently...

Our preferred hotel when visiting our office in Eureka, have stayed many times and am always happy to return. Quite and comfortable, with great food and staff. The open fire in the main lounge is very inviting during winter. Have stayed in the main building and in one of the cottages when travelling with some colleagues. The cottage was great...

While the hotel itself is so so, the location near the ocean and towering redwood forests made this a rather magical destination for us. Also the restaurant here in the hotel, the 301, was incredible! The wine list is to die for and the food was outstanding.

This hotel is close to the historic centre of Eureka and, in part, its very pleasant. Service is rather laid back (we had to wait about 10 minutes to check in - because there was no one there) but friendly. The public areas are well fitted out. The real let down is the rooms. Its not that they're unpleasant but...

Ok. This place gets a lot of mixed reviews. I can help you have a better experience. First off, DON'T stay in the historic building. It is NOT maintained as it should be and will probably be disappointing. Instead, stay in the modern building (or perhaps in one of the 2 cottages, I have not tried them so I can't...
