The breakfasts, included with our stay, were excellent. Probably at the top of any B&B we've stayed at. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable. The building groupings are charming. We'll look forward to a future stay!

My wife and I had three enjoyable nights at the Carter House Inn in Eureka. Want to know why? Let me count the ways: My initial contact by phone with the Inn was pleasant, informative, and made me feel like we were going to be in good hands. And we were! The Inn is spacious, light, and clean. It's located a few blocks walk from Old Town where we enjoyed fine dining and shopping. The rooms are comfortable and spotless and the beds are firm. The Inn is a great place to stay if you're making day trips to nearby Redwood forests and beaches. Every morning, we started with a delicious fresh cooked breakfast that was served by a smiling Carter House Inn waiter who really enjoyed their job. Every evening, we enjoyed a generous and delicious complimentary glass of wine in the Inn's spacious and comfortable lobby/ common room. Troy, the owner, went out of his way to engage us on multiple occasions to make sure we were having an enjoyable stay at the Carter House and in Eureka. We have already told more than a half dozen friends about the Carter House and we look forward to staying there again in the future!

We booked last minute as our rental car broke down, so after 5 hours of dealing with tow trucks and exchanging the car it was a relief to be welcomed by the friendly staff. The room price included a welcome drink as well as breakfast. We arrived fairly late but were able to have dinner in the sitting room and we enjoyed a few drinks from the bar in front of the fire. The room was comfortable. The breakfast was also very good with a selection of hot items as well a yogurt and fruit, etc. Every staff member was very friendly providing a high quality service. Would definitely stay here again.

Great hotel! All of the staff was friendly and very attentive. You could tell that they hire there based on personality and work ethic, not just experience. Complimentary morning breakfast and pastries (made from scratch) were excellent! Thank you Carter House! You all have been very thoughtful in thinking about the guest experience.

We celebrated our anniversary with a stay here. Such a charming place! The inn is clean and oozes character. The staff are friendly, attentive and offered some great recommendations for local dining and activities. But it’s those little touches - the complimentary chocolate-covered strawberries and hand-written note for our anniversary, the afternoon wine, the top-notch restaurant and fabulous breakfast - that kicks this place up several notches. We would not hesitate to stay here again.

We stopped here on a cross country driving trip because we wanted a change from the chain hotels. From the moment we arrived the difference was clear. We were greeted at the front desk and told we were being upgraded and reminded to enjoy our complimentary glass of wine. What a great surprise! We decided to eat in the hotel as we had been traveling many hours. This, too, was a pleasant surprise. My husband enjoyed the chef’s take on chicken pot pie. Very unique and yummy. I had the fish special. It had just the right amount of spice and the shrimp were cooked perfectly. For dessert we shared the homemade passion fruit ice cream. While the texture was different than any we’ve experienced, it was smooth with great flavor. So glad we decided to take this detour.

The room was spacious and there were several luxuries including robes and comfy soft towels. Breakfast in the morning was delicious. The front desk is not attending during the night, so the lobby is locked which some people commented on in reviews, but I have stayed at several places that are not staffed 24hr and this did not seem odd to me. We were given a number to call if we had an urgent need, but didn't so I can't evaluate the response.

The Carter House was very nice. The accommodations were very clean and the breakfast was awesome each day. The only thing we noticed that the town of Eureka is depressed with homeless here and there. Overall, if you need a place to stay in Eureka, the Carter House is highly recommended.
