The Inn at 2nd & C stands out for its unique charm and historical aesthetic, with guests often lauding the hotel's authentic decor, antique furnishings, and overall cleanliness. While the staff typically earns praise for their attentiveness, some visitors have noted inconsistencies in service.
The prime location is a double-edged sword; it provides easy access to local dining but can come with noise and safety concerns. Although the hotel's atmosphere and vintage touches are a hit, travelers occasionally question the value and mention missing amenities like fridges.

This hotel was very special; we had a fun and comfortable stay. All the small details were on point- a French press and hot water kettle in the room and great bath products. Bed was very comfortable and the vintage decor was next level. Amazing food at the hotel restaurant…

This is the 2nd year in a row that we’ve stayed at the Inn at 2nd and C while attending the annual Redwood Coast Music Festival. This charming Victorian historical hotel in Old Town is in the perfect location for easy walks to great restaurants and shops both there and downtown and especially to concert venues during the festival. Our room was spacious and comfortable including the cozy bed, and since there were only 5 rooms on our floor it was peaceful and quiet, including no sounds from the adjacent room. Included on the floor is a cozy common room for hanging out with other guests and enjoying the view of the bay and marina. Decor of rooms remain true to the hotel’s Victorian heritage…the only complaint, at least for my partner who is an unsteady walker, is the old floor which seemed to be a bit “off-plumb”(minimal incline) upon entering. Didn’t notice this with the room where we’d previously stayed. Otherwise our corner room was quite comfortable, on the top floor with an amazing view of the bay and marina. The Inn also housed a formal restaurant…charming atmosphere, great service, delicious menu, and a less formal cafe with delicious smaller fare and a bar that stays open later for later night imbibing. As restaurant dining was not available for breakfast, the hotel provided coffee and pastries each morning. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful..texting before we arrived to ask if we’d like to make reservations in their restaurant or if there were any special requests and on the morning after our arrival to inquire if we spent a comfortable first night. During our stay they truly strove to provide the best possible experience!

The hotel was a well maintained facility that embelished its historic past. When making the reservation, the staff were very thorough in describing the facility and that there was a musical event playing in their main ballroom that night. Upon our concern about noise in the room, we were placed in a top floor room opposite the ballroom and were not hear the music at all. The room was very lovely and well appointed. The hotel was located in the historic part of Eureka and walking distance to numerous restaurants and shops.

Frequent business travelers who opt for Marriot & Hilton properties, with status at both. Neither have properties in the greater Eureka area, save for one Hampton Inn and a Home2Suites set to open in August. The Inn served as an alternative and is as advertised; keep an open mind and be willing to take a step back in time. If you're looking for a traditional hotel environment/services, this is not it. Staff was kind. Breakfast consisted of off-the-shelf pastries and drip coffee. Recommend Los Bagels down the street, instead. The Tavern 1888 restaurant attached to the Inn was great! Ask for Angela, fantastic server. A few surprises that future guests should note: There is NO ONE on staff overnight on the property. When checking in, you'll be given keys to your room and the exterior doors along with an after hours door code and a phone number to call "for urgent needs only". There are a few homeless encampments nearby though no one approached us while walking. Occasional outbursts of yelling from the street could be heard as the windows in the room were open (no central air). Also note, the cancellation policy is STRICT. No leniency. Our business/travel plans changed and our trip was cut short by two nights. We stayed one night (two rooms) and charged $1,659.05, the full amount of the reservation. Be certain of your travel plans before booking; inside of 3 days, there's no relief. Caveat emptor. Cheers.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us James. We truly appreciate your candid feedback and understand that, as frequent business travelers, you have certain expectations. We strive to provide a unique and historic experience, and we’re glad to hear that you found our staff kind and enjoyed the Tavern 1888 restaurant. Angela will be thrilled to receive your compliments. We apologize if our amenities and services did not fully meet your needs. We do our best to communicate our offerings, including the absence of overnight front desk staff (though we do have night security until 6am), our continental breakfast options, and our cancellation policy, on our website and during booking. Regarding outside noise due to our location in Old Town Eureka, the Modio sound masking units in each of our guest rooms work wonders in drowning out unwanted chatter from both inside and outside our building. We hope you were able to try it out, but we understand that everyone's tolerance is different. Please know we are actively working on ways to improve our guests' comfort. Your feedback is invaluable in helping us enhance our services. If you have any further concerns or suggestions, please feel free to reach out directly.

The hotel was completely unique and very hospitable. It was furnished with antiques and there was lots of room for my kids to explore, especially my crawler. Victoria made us feel right at home and we would definitely visit again. Some heavier blinds for the bedrooms might be helpful for light cancellation for other people who are traveling with babies who refuse to go down before it is dark, but other than that things were perfect.

Thank you for your kind review Dori! We're delighted to hear that you and your family enjoyed our unique atmosphere and felt at home with us. It's great to know that Victoria made your stay special and that your kids had room to explore. We appreciate your suggestion about heavier blinds and will certainly take it into consideration to improve the experience for guests with young children. Many of our guest rooms do have heavier blinds so please be sure to request this for the next time you book and we will do our best to accommodate you. We're thrilled to hear that you would visit us again and look forward to welcoming you back soon!

After checking in and seeing the quality of the rooms, we immediately started looking on the internet for different accomodations in the area to avoid having a ruined vacation. I don't really want to go into an exhaustive accounting of what we found insufficient as this may get into the realm of opinion and not fact. What is undeniably true is that the inn at 2nd and C was not nearly as nice as we had hoped and we made other last minute plans to avoid staying there.
Also, as an indication of the quality level of their customer service, the hotel manager refused to refund the price of the 2 days of our stay and I disputed the charges with my credit card company to avoid paying for them.

Hello Joel. It's unfortunate that you didn't find our beautifully appointed suite to your liking. That particular room is one of the most requested, especially by those celebrating a special occasion, but we understand that our boutique Victorian isn't everyone's cup of tea. We hope that you understand that as a small family owned and operated business, we must stand by our cancellation policy when a guest checks out only an hour or two after arrival and we find no issues in the room after a thorough inspection. We're pleased to hear that you found other accommodations so late in the evening and hope that you enjoyed the rest of your time in Eureka.

The hotel staff was comprised of an amazing team that worked with us to create a memorable experience for our team. The reservations and arrangements felt very tailored to our needs and thoughtful. The atmosphere of the hotel was really unique - we LOVED the historic setting of a 137-year old Victorian with so many modern amenities. Tavern 1888 was the epitome of fine dining with attentive service and easily rivals some of my favorites in San Francisco, Los Angeles and Napa. We are looking forward to another business event there for our team, and I hope to stay soon for a romantic weekend getaway.

The room was so beautiful, I don’t think we’ve stayed in a similar hotel room, the windows brought in so much sunlight! We loved the location, it was right in old town so many restaurants and bars were within walking distance. Another big plus is that they’re pet friendly, and were so welcoming to our pup!

My bias is to seek out unique lodging. This time I went WAAAY to far on that spectrum. This Inn is certainly unique - the whole hotel feels like it's on a slant; what hotel doesn't have blinds on the windows or a TV? Being near the end of a road trip we sprang for the King Suite so we had a corner room with lots of windows - overlooking a tattoo parlor and the local tweakers. The shower was the size of a small box, barely room to turn around. A shortage of electrical outlets for what travelers carry today. I could go on and on but you get the idea. Pass this one by Trip Advisor community

Thank you for sharing your experience with us and the community Joe. We know that our unique 1888 Victorian isn't for everyone. She has so much character and history, which is the reason why most of our traveling guests thoroughly love staying with us, however we understand how all this character, such as smaller bathrooms and limited outlets, isn't what everyone is looking for. We hope that you found accommodations more suited to your taste during the rest of your journey and appreciate your feedback so that others looking for a more modern and streamlined hotel experience know to look elsewhere. Cheers!

We spent 3 nights in the king suite on the 4th floor and were not disappointed! The bed was comfortable and the furnishings were lovely, appreciated the large sofa to sit on. The room doesn't have central heat, but there is a space heater in the closet that worked well. Coffee and tea in the room - even a French press provided! We ate dinner at Phatsy Clines and were disappointed - the service was lagging and we thought the prices were high for the "small plates" that they consider a meal. Overall, the hotel is beautiful and we would stay there again.
