Overlooking Humboldt Bay in the Historic District of Eureka, California, our newly updated, family owned and operated boutique Inn is housed in the elegant and intriguing Historic Eagle House Victorian (est. 1888). Once inside, you will be welcomed with a friendly smile and enchanted by the Old World feel. Our twenty-three unique and immaculately dressed guests rooms provide all you need for a restful and relaxing get away. Dine in our hotel library bar, Phatsy Kline's Parlor Lounge, located right downstairs off of our grand theater ballroom. Phatsy's offers tapas style small plates and delicious homemade desserts. A second restaurant, Tavern 1888, is opening in September 2022 and will be serving up “Elevated Coastal Cuisine”. Both Phatsy’s & Tavern 1888 specialize in craft cocktails, local wines, beers and ciders as well as a fine selection of organic coffee and tea. Both in-house restaurants take pride in sharing a menu that is house made, market fresh, locally sourced and organic whenever possible. The Historic Eagle House is just a minutes stroll to local boutique shops & other decadent restaurants and just a few minutes drive to the Redwood forests and the Pacific Ocean!

Loved this family owned small business! The hotel is just gorgeous! Every room is unique (I peeped while housekeepers were cleaning empty rooms). Located shirt distance to the water. Had an incredible sunrise viewable from the bed. Breakfast treats amazing....theybhave their own pastry chef who makes amazing scones...coffee and Greek yogurt also offered when I was there. The hotel bar Phatsy Klines (sp?) Was awesome...great Manhattan cocktails, cool patio in back with fun cat paintings. They'd just opened a new restaurant The Tavern as well...make reservations....so good...fine casual cool dining....I had the salmon....from Alaska...so good. We ordered all 3 desserts to share for table and they were amazing....same pastry chef I believe who did the breakfast treats. If you want a unique experience in a fascinating building (they don't make these types of buildings anymore) this is the place for you if staying in Eureka, Arcata area.

This is a really cool hotel, with some fantastic architecture. I would give 4.5 stars if possible due to the pet friendly nature of the hotel. The rooms keep up with the turn-of-the century theme and also have heaters and fans (but no A/C). While the hotel is technically located in Eureka's Old Town it is a few blocks from the central business area of Old Town. There is a restaurant and ballroom located in the hotel courtyard, which may have a band playing on the weekends. Fortunately, they do break up around 10:00, although there may be post-show conversations on the street level until 10:30 (if you have a window open). The room we had included a white noise machine for such contingencies. Unfortunately, the ballroom and local bars and restaurants use the hotel's parking lot, which may get full if you try to park after 6:00 PM. You'll have to park on-street in that case and move your car afterwards. There is also a noticeable homeless population on the streets, and area, around the hotel. Pros: - Pet friendly - Really cool renovated building - Nice touches in rooms (i.e. a French Press) - Close to waterfront walking trail Cons: - Very simple continental breakfast, given the price point - Front desk closes early, so plan ahead if you have a late arrival - Parking difficult after 6:00 PM due to the ballroom and local bars/restaurants using the hotel parking lot (not sure if it is a common lot, or if the hotel doesn't enforce parking). - Streets around the hotel has not been as fully renovated as the central area of Old Town, and has a run down feel.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience during your stay at our boutique Inn Sherman. We are always pleased when our guests appreciate the historic nature of our building and our proximity to the Humboldt Bay harbor and all the small businesses of Old Town, which we are officially located within, just at the western end of it. We feel it's of the utmost importance to not only hear the positives of our guest's stays, but to also address all concerns that are brought to our attention so that we can either improve our processes or clarify any misunderstandings. ~ Guest breakfast: it has become a more simple version of what we used to offer prior to COVID and we are hoping to have our full organic breakfast back for our guests by next summer. The few house made breakfast items, including muffins, scones, fresh fruit and yogurts are meant to provide our guests with a healthy yet tasty snack before they head out for the day. ~ Front Desk: because we are a small family owned and operated Inn, our front desk isn’t attended to around the clock but closes by 9 or 10pm depending on the season. We set our late arrival guests up for a late checkin and do have a staff member and a security officer on the property all night for any urgent needs. ~ Parking: yes, it is a public city lot and does sometimes get busy on weekends when events and “nights out” are more common in Old Town but there tends to be plenty of street parking as well. Lastly, but always important to address, is the small but evident homeless population in Humboldt County. Like most West coast cities, our climate is very temperate year round, which makes it easier for those without housing to live more comfortably. We are very fortunate that most homeless are very respectful and kind whenever we interact with them, but understand how some travelers may feel uncomfortable if homelessness isn’t prevalent in their home towns. I hope that this helps in addressing your few concerns and truly appreciate all of the positives that you had shared with us. Thank you again and we hope to see you again the next time you come through Eureka!

Excellent service. Had an issue, called the front desk, it was taken care of in minutes! Couldn't be happier. The biggest issue is the Inn is alwarys booked. Need to book at least a month in advance if possible.

Visiting the Eagle House is always a joy! All rooms at the Inn at 2nd and C are a little different and have everything you need. My favorite thing from our balcony room was the giant mirror on the wardrobe; it’s rare to have a big full body mirror at a hotel. They also provide you with a tall oscillating fan and a small fan in case you need it. Bed was comfy. :)

The hotel was unbelievably beautiful. Accommodations were first class, the staff was very friendly, helpful and professional. Dinner at the Tavern was fine dining in my estimation and Phatsey Kline had its own special vibe. A memorable stay and will go back next year!
