Loved this family owned small business! The hotel is just gorgeous! Every room is unique (I peeped while housekeepers were cleaning empty rooms). Located shirt distance to the water. Had an incredible sunrise viewable from the bed. Breakfast treats amazing....theybhave their own pastry chef who makes amazing scones...coffee and Greek yogurt also offered when I was there. The hotel bar Phatsy Klines (sp?) Was awesome...great Manhattan cocktails, cool patio in back with fun cat paintings. They'd just opened a new restaurant The Tavern as well...make reservations....so good...fine casual cool dining....I had the salmon....from Alaska...so good. We ordered all 3 desserts to share for table and they were amazing....same pastry chef I believe who did the breakfast treats. If you want a unique experience in a fascinating building (they don't make these types of buildings anymore) this is the place for you if staying in Eureka, Arcata area. …
This is a really cool hotel, with some fantastic architecture. I would give 4.5 stars if possible due to the pet friendly nature of the hotel. The rooms keep up with the turn-of-the century theme and also have heaters and fans (but no A/C). While the hotel is technically located in Eureka's Old Town it is a few blocks from the central business area of Old Town. There is a restaurant and ballroom located in the hotel courtyard, which may have a band playing on the weekends. Fortunately, they do break up around 10:00, although there may be post-show conversations on the street level until 10:30 (if you have a window open). The room we had included a white noise machine for such contingencies. Unfortunately, the ballroom and local bars and restaurants use the hotel's parking lot, which may get full if you try to park after 6:00 PM. You'll have to park on-street in that case and move your car afterwards. There is also a noticeable homeless population on the streets, and area, around the hotel. Pros: - Pet friendly - Really cool renovated building - Nice touches in rooms (i.e. a French Press) - Close to waterfront walking trail Cons: - Very simple continental breakfast, given the price point - Front desk closes early, so plan ahead if you have a late arrival - Parking difficult after 6:00 PM due to the ballroom and local bars/restaurants using the hotel parking lot (not sure if it is a common lot, or if the hotel doesn't enforce parking). - Streets around the hotel has not been as fully renovated as the central area of Old Town, and has a run down feel.…
Wonderful decor, friendly staff, you feel as if you are living in Victorian splendour. Dinner in the Tavern was outstanding. Cocktails exceptional. Room clean, with attention to detail. Bed very comfy. Don’t expect a hearty breakfast.
Excellent service. Had an issue, called the front desk, it was taken care of in minutes! Couldn't be happier. The biggest issue is the Inn is alwarys booked. Need to book at least a month in advance if possible.
Visiting the Eagle House is always a joy! All rooms at the Inn at 2nd and C are a little different and have everything you need. My favorite thing from our balcony room was the giant mirror on the wardrobe; it’s rare to have a big full body mirror at a hotel. They also provide you with a tall oscillating fan and a small fan in case you need it. Bed was comfy. :)
Loved the feel of this Inn. Our room had beautiful antique furniture and the shower was excellent. Staff was excellent! We had drinks at the bar in the Inn and walked to everywhere else we ate. Loved the goodies for breakfast and wonderful coffee! Highly recommend!!!
The hotel was unique and fun to be in. The restaurants were fun and lively. The sheets were very soft and clean. The location was great and staff were all friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay at the Inn at 2nd and C again!
The hotel was unbelievably beautiful. Accommodations were first class, the staff was very friendly, helpful and professional. Dinner at the Tavern was fine dining in my estimation and Phatsey Kline had its own special vibe. A memorable stay and will go back next year!
Beautiful Victorian with a lovely room. The staff was helpful and very generous with their time. If you eat at the Tavern, bring your appetite. The food is delicious and the craft cocktails are smashing!
Loved this place. We stayed here for the Eureka music festival. Many of the musicians played in the inside theater at Eagle house We could go up to our room between venues. The room was clean. The bed very comfortable. The staff were very friendly .We enjoyed the view from our 4th floor window. Would love to stay there again
