#3 of 3 Specialty lodging in Galini
“Georgilas Cave House” is a privately owned complex of 5 fully autonomous traditional residences of more than 120 years old, yet quite recently refurbished (just in 2013) with big love and respect to the unique Cycladic features of it. In 19th century “Georgilas” was a family cottage with its own large production in fruits, cereals, milk and cheese. Throughout centuries “Georgilas” has achieved to retain its authenticity, and today it offers to its guests a harmonious blend of unparalleled tranquility and down-home coziness. The construction of “Georgilas Cave House” was based on the dictates of climate, the particular housing requirements and the materials available to the local masons. Nestled at an elevated position “Georgilas” oversees the fertile Valley of Eggares. Notwithstanding, but for its earth-toned coloring, it is well secluded and not easily visible from afar. All residences are bright, airy and naturally ventilated via “murder holes”, which were the old way for air-conditioning! The decoration is mainly rustic and elegant with antiques and handmade furniture.

This was my second time to the property - and it was just as fabulous as the first. The house has everything you need to relax and unwind. The pool is a refreshing start, middle or end to the day. The local restaurant did not fail to please. I would highly recommend a stay.

We only had a 2 night stay, but we're in love with the Pink castle I fell in love with as soon as I saw it on Airbnb. It is a little bit out of the town, but visiting in low season (early May) the rest of the island seemed pretty dead and nowhere as inviting as our little paradise. We stayed in the Velvet studio which opened right up next to the pool with a lovely seating area outside for breakfast. The room was beautifully decorated with all the basic amenities needed to make your own breakfast and other meals if needed. The pool was nice and clean although a bit chilly so I only jumped in once. Very comfy sun loungers, really welcoming host who gave us the tastiest oranges, and very happy with our new friend Annie the pregnant cat - please post any pictures when she has her kitties!!! She's super friendly and would be very grateful for any tuna :) Only negative points I can think of are the shower had no holder which is difficult when washing hair etc. And no pool towels provided. Make sure you do a more comprehensive supermarket shop in town as the village shop really is teeny tiny. Perfect for a few day stopover to relax :) would definitely recommend

Absolutely loved my stay here. From the moment I made my enquiry through to our departure, Anastasia and Ms. Antonia were both super helpful and attentive. The studio was clean and exactly as described. The communal areas were kept perfectly. There's a large swimming pool, wifi throughout, a shared BBQ & grill area for all guests to share. Thanks for a great stay!

We have had the most amazing stay with Anastasia at her cave house . We have never experienced so much hospitality anywhere in the world where we have travelled. Anastasia was always on hand for any questions or advice we needed and even when we arrived,we were met with cold drinks and some sandwiches. The staff are also very accommodating and friendly. As for the accommodation,we’ll it is out of this world ,spotlessly clean and well set up around a beautiful pool. We also walked to the town centre ,5 minutes away to the taverna ,Pilata for some amazing food and hospitality as well . We are going to miss Anastasia,s and her staffs genuine happy smiling faces . We don’t want to leave . Do your self a treat and stay at the cave house ,you will not be disappointed

We just spent the most magical couple of days in this amazing complex of houses just by the village of Galini. We had our car and that made it easy to explore the island from there, but every time we left the house we felt like we wanted to be back and enjoy every moment. The hosts are great people (they hug you on arrival and when you leave....true Mediterranean hospitality). Can’t be grateful enough for all the attentions we received. We didn’t even feel we were in a hotel, if felt more like a friends house. We stayed in the studio overlooking the swimming pool, perfectly equipped with everything you’ll need and the pool itself at your doorstep (it was amazing to spend the early morning there). Also the architecture of the place is simply magical. I see most of the reviews are from families, well, I can say that also for couples the place works perfectly. We loved it so much! Thank you for hosting us!
