I booked a room at The Hilton Garden Inn in Emeryville just for a overnight getaway for my boyfriend and I. We stayed on a Sunday night and I went in to work late Monday, so we could experience everything. We both stay in Oakland, so this was just a mental get away and we both enjoyed ourselves as if we're hundreds of miles away. I received text messages from Bridget, who works at the Hotel reassuring that I was having the best stay ever (I've never experienced this from any other Hotel, let alone another Hilton)! I would highly recommend this Hotel. It was very clean and honestly, " Home Away From Home"!

We have only the highest praise for Mr Jamal Brooks and his staff on duty late May 13. We were at the Emeryville AMTRAK station expecting to take a taxi to the HGI. We called many taxi companies and none would pick up at the AMTRAK station. We called the front desk and a truly extremely helpful front desk staffer was giving us options, when Mr Brooks volunteered to pick us up at the station in his personal vehicle. He was at the station in a few minutes and drove us to the front door for a super smooth check in. Mr Brooks was a lifesaver, both figuratively and maybe literally considering our only other option was to walk from AMTRAK to HGI at 11 PM! That generous gesture to two strangers is something that will stay with us forever. Many, many heartfelt thanks Jamal. All of the other staff we encountered from the front desk, bar, restaurant, housekeeping and shuttle were also very welcoming and helpful. Mr Brooks and the other staff and their high level of service made our stay truly memorable. Congratulations and thanks for developing such a great hospitality team.

This was the worst HGI that I stayed at. Being a HH member for over 20 years, I always stay at a HGI whenever I can. The staff was not helpful and seemed to be irritated when I made a request. The breakfast was buffet style without a made to offer grill. I do not recommend this HGI.

We stayed here recently as a family of four. Sadly on arrival our booked room type was not available - which after a long flight with young kids was frustrating. The following day it was resolved thankfully. Rooms were reasonable - clean and bright. Found the AC a little annoying as it was right beside the bed. Location was good to access shops and supermarkets. We drove to and took the ferry from Oakland to SF Downtown which was convenient for a nice day out seeing SF.

Stayed there for my daughter’s university visit. Upon check in, I asked a room away from the elevator. Got a key and went up the floor but it was right across from the elevator. Back to the front desk to change the room and got another room. A few hours later, someone knocked my door and another guests were standing there. Told them I changed the room and assigned to that one. Then few minutes later phone rang and been asked “who are you” without identifying himself. Never received such a rude call and asked the caller to identify himself. It was front office stuff and asked why I am in that room. Obviously it was there fault not to keep track of room assignment and I did not understand why I need to receive such rude call (never received such call from hotel front desk) and treated in such way. Although I went down to complain, another manger asked how I want to make up this incident. Huh?! Make up?! When I check out the hotel, THAT front office stuff checked me out, but as you can imagine there was no single word/apology about his call. Worst experience at Hilton Garden Inn.

Response from Bruce B, General Manager at Hilton Garden Inn San Francisco/Oakland Bay Bridge

Thank you Miki for your recent review from your stay back in April. I apology for the mix-up with your check-in. Thankfully this doesn't happen too often anymore but still does which we need to continue to focus on making sure we complete the room changes completely when we perform a room change. I was glad to hear that we were able to get you away from the elevator but disappointed that we caused you further inconvenience by having the confusion with other arriving guests and the phone call from the front desk as they were trying to sort out the issue. Thanks again for your comments and hope when you visit your daughter we can provide an uneventful stay. Thanks Bruce General Manager
