This visit was during Covid, so I am giving some slack. Great location. We were in the Burk room which was great - nice views, patio, fireplace, etc. Where the Inn comes up short is with personnel - probably not enough to run at a four star level. The gardner helps with breakfast which is fine but I am not sure his dog should be in the kitchen. Also breakfast was very limited in terms of options. I would return but mainly because of the great location and room.
Elk Cove Inn is so peaceful, relaxing and beautiful. The champagne breakfasts (oh those sour dough waffles, still dreaming about them) and the three-course gourmet dinners (that you MUST NOT MISS) are both top notch. We also did the bbq one night which was great as well. There isn't much around Elk, so I'd highly recommend eating dinners at the inn, we were never disappointed and we ate there three nights. All meals are served outside. We brought our dog who loved endless beach days - there were times when we were the only people on the beach. It's easy to social distance and we stayed in the Sam McCanse oceanfront suite which has amazing views and its own entrance from the outside. Any of the ocean front suites are worth the splurge, the private balconies and those views where you can watch the most breathtaking sunsets! And be sure to spend at least two nights, otherwise you are doing yourself a true disservice. We ended up spending four nights here and it was the perfect amount of time to enjoy the beach, relax, drink wine, read and play board games. Victor and Melissa are so warm, welcoming and friendly and are available whenever you need anything. This was our second year at the Elk Cove Inn and can't wait to return next year. It it definitely a yearly ritual!…
The grounds on the property had a casual feel with beautifully groomed flour beds and paths full of lush plants and flowers. All embodied by a feeling that gives you a fabulously pampered and special experience. The view of the ocean can be seen from the lovely patio/deck (with cushions and cozy blankets if needed) . The path down to the beach was a nice walk we took twice a day with our dog. The Chef and staff were wonderful, most friendly, and accommodating. If you make the trip, you will want to come back. I know the close friends we traveled with do too!
I figured the best review I could leave is my email to the staff: Dear Elk Cove Team, I wanted to tell you personally that we travel a lot (at least we used to) and we have been lucky to stay in some wonderful hotels. Our experience with you all was beyond wonderful. The communication ahead of time, the location, the clean room, the lovely staff (especially Melissa and Chef). It was really a trip we will always remember. We had also looked at Timber Cove and stopped there on the way back and we’re so pleased we’d chosen you. Thank you all so much and I wish you all health and happiness for the rest of 2020 and beyond. We will see you again in “our Surfsong”!
The inn has a great view and the atmosphere is calming. The staff are warm and friendly If you are looking for a place to relax then the Elk cove inn is it. We did breakfast and dinner at the inn and they were delicious! Our puppy loved running and exploring on the beach
