Located just a stone’s throw from Yosemite and directly on the Merced River (the same one that flows through the Yosemite Valley), you can’t find a better location outside of the park! Liz and Ron were very gracious hosts who were very knowledgeable about the area and the park. Included with your stay is a delicious breakfast every morning served on the first floor deck overlooking the Merced. We stayed in the Sunflower Suite which is located on the entire third floor of the B&B. Natural daylight fills the space and gives you a near panoramic of the natural surroundings. You have your own wrap around deck which is perfect for unwinding after a full day of hiking to enjoy dinner and some wine. At night we opened all of the windows to enjoy the roar of the river down below. This was perhaps the most peaceful night’s sleep we’ve had in the last 8 months! We had our reservations canceled at the Ahwahnee Hotel in the Valley just 4 days before our visit (due to oversight on the management’s behalf in regards to the county’s COVID requirements) and found the Yosemite Blue Butterfly Inn. I am so glad we did and we would stay there again and highly recommend it to anyone planning a trip!

We decided to go to Yosemite at the last minute and scheduled our stay at the Tenaya lodge. My husband did further research and found this cute Bed and Breakfast right on the river and only 8 minutes for the park(Tenaya lodge is 35 minutes from the park). There were only 2 nights available so we stayed at Tenaya Lodge the first night. There was no comparison! We wish we stayed at the Yosemite Blue Butterfly Inn the whole time. Liz and Ron had great stories and the breakfast was amazing, still need to reach out and get one of her recipes. We were greeted the first night with homemade cookies and ice tea. I felt like I was visiting family. The view was incredible and it was FUN watching the hummingbirds and the black bird couple on their deck! If there was more stars to give, I would! It's a must stay for your Yosemite trip!

What a great place to start our california road trip. Having never been to yosemite before the knowledge of hikes, climbing and the general area was second to non from our hosts liz and ron.The room was very large and wonderfully laid out with a balcony with views up the valley. 2 minutes from the park entrance. The breakfasts were great and freshly cooked each day with variations daily. If your a rock climber Ron is a legend. Highly recommend this little place and the hosts also pointed us in the right direction for the remainder of our trip.

Liz and Ron run a nice, cozy bed and breakfast and were eager to make sure everyone was comfortable. The power company had shut off services to the entire area, the valley and the canyon but the Blue Butterfly ran their own generator from about 7 in the morning until around 10 each evening. Liz even provided dinner the 2nd evening because dining options were limited .... the restaurant right next door was selling pizza using their own generator but that meant there was another long line. Liz was also willing to offer suggestions to us as to what to see and do during our limited time to Yosemite for the our first visit. Her suggestions were spot on! And Ron's driving directions were perfect. You will hear Liz in the kitchen if you are in one of the rooms on the ground floor but that did not bother us as we wanted to be up & ready to go see the sights immediately after breakfast was served. Our bed was very comfortable, the room was spotlessly clean, breakfast was warm and filling. My only negative would be that it is time to replace the bath towels with new, more absorbing and fluffier nicer towels. The printed California Poppy towels are thin and outdated and reminded me of towels that my family used in the 70s.

Response from Yosemiteblue, Owner at Yosemite Blue Butterfly Inn

Sorry about the towels...it was the "end of the season" (October,) when these guests stayed...and we have now ordered our new towels for next year ...We wash a set of towels hundreds of times during the main season (April through October)...and they do wear thin...I liked the towels originally because they had flowers on them to match the name of the room. (However, those thinner towels do dry faster and save electrical power.) With an electrical power outage...we were the only lodging facility in the area to have power (which meant we had lights and hot water!) We bought an "ultra quiet" generator several years ago..to be prepared. We sincerely try to 'go the extra mile' and be prepared and helpful .... Liz at Yosemite Blue Butterfly Inn

Ron and Liz are wonderful hosts. Warm, welcoming and full of stories of Yosemite and information about hikes and activities. Their inn is located right at the entrance to Yosemite Valley, a great location for visits to the park. The power was out in the area but they have a generator so we had lights and comfort. The full breakfasts are delicious and the inn is lovely.
