Dog friendly. Competitive prices. Room was very small and bed+bedding could use a refresh. I would stay here again for sure, because of the employees. The innkeeper is great and helpful, and the staff is so nice. They really made the difference.

A good base to explore the area and easy to find. Five minute drive to shops, restaurants and micro-brewery. Off road location without much noise from passing traffic. Room number one is spacious. Friendly staff.

Nice manager, charming motel with EV charger and affordable rates. Near town with good dining (Zaks on 5 for hamburgers, Magdalena for fine dining). BUT the rooms need new mattresses and better coffee, even if it raises the rates. Great stop between Central California and Central Oregon - a beautiful area.

They upped their prices for the July 4th holiday, to $160.00 plus taxes for a 2 doubles room.
The room WAS clean, but very run down & outdated. No microwave, no drain plug in the sink, the towels were gray, the 'white' bed sheets a dingy gray (need a good bleach ), plastic mattress pad was noisy & hot, bedspread & shams were not clean, radio was broken, sad dead live plants???, windows needed washing, no kleenex in the rooms, parking lot dirty, front office very dirty. Staff was pleasant & accommodating.

1940-s motel that has been updated. Newer log beds. New pedestal sinks, New toilets. Our room had a quilt bedspread. TV, WiFi, coffee maker, sm fridge, king bed. Our car broke down Memorial weekend. Owner Eric was most accommodating. Maids Stephanie and adopted sister were wonderful and hard working. The two girls deserve a good tip. Covered walkways. Biggest room sleeps 6. Most sleep 2.pets welcome.]l

Short gorgeous winding-road drive off I-5 to the Dunsmuir Lodge, looking like the motels of my 1960's youth. Pleasant curb appeal, affordable rates, free Wifi. Eric the owner was funny, warm and offered just enough information without overload for a bleary-eyed traveler. Turned room key and found the most un-generic darling motel room: four-poster big pine bed with granny quilt, drop-leaf blond pine table and chairs, excellent tv with good cable, mini-fridge, in-room coffeemaker with cocoa and 3 kinds of coffee, pretty window dressing, a delightful huge modern sink. There were two real plants in the room! I'm totally coming back here.

We recently spent a couple of nights at this very comfortable, friendly, super clean motel in Dunsmuir. The rooms are recently redecorated and attractively furnished in a charming rustic style and are mostly priced at $69 and $79 year-round. The staff was good in helping us to find places to visit and eat . The motel is on a four acre site with both tall trees and a large meadow. Features of the motel are: all no-smoking rooms, pet friendly, free wi-fi, freezer for fishermen's catches, outdoor barbecues. All-in-all a very appealing place if you're looking for a low-key attractive place to stay while in the gorgeous Mt. Shasta area, or even if you are driving madly between San Francisco and Seattle on I-5.

Wish I would have had the opportunity to stay here. The lodge was recommended to me by a co-worker and I had reserved a weekend stay to celebrate my birthday. I was very excited to go when the day before the trip our home sewer pipe burst. I called the lodge immediately and explained the situation stating we would not be able to make our trip given the circumstances. I was told they have a 3 day cancellation policy and would be charging me for the stay regardless. I asked if there could be any leniency should they rent the room and was told no. The next day a very rude man called me and stated he must have my 3 digit code on the back of my credit card in order to charge me for the stay. I gave it to him only because I was up to my ears in sewage (literally). So, they got my $200 plus whatever they rented the room for that weekend. I understand policies are in place for a reason but taking money from someone just to take it is awful. I learned a big lesson about not going off of a co-workers recommendation - will look elsewhere in the Dunsmuir area when I get the opportunity to explore the beautiful area.

Thank your feedback. We are a small business and need to have such policies in place, especially for holiday weekends.

I read a few of the reviews & would just like to comment that you're not going to get the Ramada in a community of 600 people! Come on people give these type of establishments the credit they're due for the effort they put in,
The Dunsmuir Lodge was a "we're tired, let's get a room" stop for us & we were quite presently surprised. The owner was very friendly & even had a small toothpaste he gave us as I had forgotten ours. In a small place like this I was surprised! Room was clean, quaint & comfortable. There are light quilts on the bed & it was winter, but the old window heater was more than adequate to keep us cozy! Giant log bed, lots of pillows ( lumpy), free wi fi & a flat screen. 36" stall tiled shower. In room coffee, no breakfast. At $78.00 OTD on a Fri night, No complaints from this traveler. You are in rural California & for these owners efforts to provide a nice accommodation I'll give them 4 stars!

I always check Trip Advisor before booking lodging or anything for that matter....trusted you all on this one. Well, here is my review:
i thought this is the perfect location to stop on our way back to Oregon. We have a Basset Hound - who is an awesome, quiet dog who is cleaner than most people, DOG friendly, great!

The room was supposed to be $59.00 but because we got there after 8:00 PM we were told those rooms were sold out...so we had to pay $89.99 plus $10 for the dog. Ok but I am optimistic because of the pictures of those rooms with the beautiful log beds and cozy quilts. I am thinking we are in the right place..............
What a joke...yes there was a king log bed and it had a quilt... We froze! No extra blankets provided. Tiny bathroom with worn out, tattered towels with the threat that if you took them it would cost you ... who would want those nasty towels. We didn't even use the shower.
Move on to Mt Shasta City or Weed or Yreka for a bargain for the night. Do not waste your night on the DUNSMUIR LODGE!

As one of the owners I would like to respond, 1- we have 4 rooms at a lower rate of $59.00 plus tax. One would need to make a reservation to hold at that price. 2- We review the heater setup with everyone who checks in, if you have a problem please call the office. 3- We do charge $10.00 per night per pet. I am sorry the customer was not happy. Jon
