The kids (9 & 12) were excited about staying in a caboose, and the experience here at the Railroad Park didn't let them down. Mt. Shasta and Dunsmuir were a short drive, and allowed us to use the resort as our base for exploring Mt. Shasta. We also enjoyed a great dinner at the resort restaurant.

We booked caboose no. 12 with the cupola and claw foot bath. It was such a great choice. Close to the dining car and had everything you could want. The bed was the most comfortable in 8 hotels we stayed in on our road trip. The owner said lots of people compliment the beds and they are The Englander. We... More

This was our third camping stop on a trip through Northern CA and Southern Oregon, and definitely my least favorite, although the kids and husband liked it more than I did. The campsites are very close together. The campground is pretty old and a bit funky. Showerhouse was clean, but we had much nicer and newer shower houses in state... More

Thank you for your review. We are glad to accommodate special requests whenever possible. We have added information on our website that the pool is only available to motel guests (capacity of 25 cannot accommodate the caboose motel and the campground) More

My wife grew up staying in cabins in Castella, CA so we decided to visit so she could show me the area. We also made it a family trip with her relatives camping and staying in the motel railroad cars. We chose this for the location and also because there was a pool to use. When we were checking in,... We held a large family reunion here and utilized both the caboose hotel and the RV park. The RV park is old and does not provide clean or consistent 50 amp power. Don't put this RV park on your itinerary if you have a 50 amp rig. The park will not support you. When the family left the caboose hotel... More

The room in question WAS reserved by the above individual for another family member for the night. We had a full house and waiting list for that evening. When the family member no-showed, we charged the card of the person making the reservation. There is a 48 hour cancelation time as is standard. Had we been notified, even that day,... More

We stopped in Dunsmuir on our way to Lake Tahoe. It was a really fun place to stay, we really enjoyed it. However, there is no food service and their dining cars are only open certain days of the week. There are very few options in Dunsmuir as well, so be ready to drive to Shasta if you need food.... Thanks for staying with us. The little town of Dunsmuir has just under 1600 population...there are a few nice breakfast and lunch businesses available as well as restaurants. We're glad to give recommendations and have menus available in the motel office. The local Pizza place will also deliver to the cabooses! More

Has trees, shade, stuff for RV or tents. Decent campsites, close to Quaint Dunsmuir that has a great little funky brewpub. So yep it is fine. A little funk and they put everyone in one half, it would have been nice to have had a little more privacy since it was available. So if you want to pay a bit... More

We were very delighted to stay in this Caboose. Very Charming, very clean, organic soaps, great and helpful staff. Loved the hot tub and forest settngs. There was a lot of thought and love put into this place.

On our way to Oregon we finally spent a night at this unique destination. Our caboose was pleasant and quiet. We had a nice view of Castle Crags and dinner in the diner car was spectacular and will be the subject of a separate review.

We were driving back to Portland from Mammoth Lake, so we stayed at RR Park overnight as a half way stop. We stayed in Caboose 19. The whole park is like a train museum, especially the dining train! We also picked this place because it's dog-friendly, so our doggy was happy too. The inside of caboose is basic but functional... More
